@PWMMIR Since he is playing "Rising of the Moon" on the bodhran and the Irish dudes seem to be wearing clothes from the period of the Irish war for Independence, I would think so.
I just want to know why everything has to end up being about ethnicity/origin. Can't we just enjoy(or not enjoy, as the case may be) the show for what it is? I personally thoroughly enjoyed it.
Flash random pictures of tigers in the background. Very Irish. Also the industrial era cap and leather pants go well with officer redcoats (in wigs and hand to hand combat!)... but then, why let history get in the way of this drivel. His dancing looks like a drunk guy, trying to stand on his feet. His fat ass and belly wobbling to counter balance the sway.

that music at the second half of this number certainly is encouraging, its like saying 'we won't take this sitting down! we will fight for our country and people, even if we die trying! let's get dancing!!!' good number
@reniam i am assuming you know little about history and the English red coats like america fought them for freedom so did ireland also had to fight them.
@BabiegirlZee76 You assume incorrectly. Early American history has been a passion of mine since childhood and has nothing to do with my comment or, this video. The small clothes and powdered wigs do not match up with the early 20th century dress of the Irish. Not to mention the Tiger. It's a bad amalgamation set-up to play to Americans stereotypes and plays as a disney-type gimmick. This has none of the subtle power RD, or even LOTD did.
@BobCassidy the only people who are of Canadian ethnicity are the Native Americans and Inuit. Everyone else is the descendant of immigrants. For the majority of it's citizens, 'Canadian' is not their heritage.
@echoshadowlight You are not Irish. You were not born there, you know nothing about the country. Stop pretending. Be open to your Canadian birth. Stop stealing from us!
@BobCassidy I find your reasoning odd. Are you saying that if you moved to Africa and had a child, they would be Ugandan, for example, not Irish? There's a difference between citizenship and ethnicity. Are you saying that a Pakistani teen born to Pakistani immigrant parents in Ireland is not Pakistani, but Irish? In reality it would be both - Pakistani by ethnicity and perhaps Irish by citizenship/birthplace.
@echoshadowlight Thats it exactly. If a Pakistani has a child in ireland and the child lives there then he is of course Irish. Im in Japan, my kid is Japanese, if I move back to Ireland then she will be of mixed as she has spent time in both countries. Your blood doesnt make you who you are, your surroundings do.
@BobCassidy I see where you're coming from. You don't believe in ethnicity. Great. But you don't have to be so uptight about it & run around attacking people who LIKE the bodhran & who made a side joke. One of my grandparents is Dutch; I love salt licorice, & I might make a joke that it's genetic. Dutch people shouldn't take that as an offense, but an honor, that I like their food so much. Take the stick out of your ass & calm down, instead of furthering the hotheaded/short-tempered stereotype.
@echoshadowlight Read the comments here. Most are Americans or Canadians who claim to be Irish. I can almost hear them greet each other with a "top of the morning". Im embarrassed for you.
@echoshadowlight I have to agree with Bob Cassidy on this one. I was born in Ireland, raised there and I'm tired of Americans and Canadians claiming to be 'Irish' or 'part-Irish.' You are not us. We are not you. Stop claiming something for yourself that does not belong to you.
@reelirishboy5 It seems both you and Bob Cassidy are differentiating between citizenship/birthplace, and ethnicity. I do agree that an argument can be made that ethnicity is an invalid term, just as nationality/citizenship can be argued to be invalid and borders artificial. Anyone can say either of our arguments are moot. But guess what? I think you should care more that someone appreciates the bodhran than that they claim to be of Irish ethnicity/descent (but not culture/citizenship!)
he is slightly aged yeah...wobbly bits showing already..(am saying it nicely out of respects for the Irish hero, dont want to offend the wrong people).
