I also think alot of fans have trouble getting into indy technical wrestling because it IS fixed, and many don't want to see two guys with no look and no character (or well known character that they are familiar with) get it on in a fake match. If they're going to watch something fake, they want the entertainment thrown in there too ALONG with the wrestling. Indy technical wrestling obviously has its niche, but it will never replace mainstream wrestling and what the channel surfers want to see
In mainstream wrestling it's not about working the leg and never really has been about that. If a guy has that 'it' factor like Warrior, Rock, Austin, Goldberg ect when all those guys came into their own, none of the other stuff like executing a crisp dropkick matters. They individually had something that just clicked with the fans and if you lined up 10 other guys around each of them with the same look and gimmick, those other guys aren't guaranteed to have 'it' like the guys mentioned
I agree with you man! It's funny in a way, I usually compare the politics of wrestling to everyday life in some way & it tends to make a lot of sense. As long as you can sell an "Idea", you're in the Black. But most of the time That "Black" will not cater to the majority.
I am a huge Austin fan but i do have to agree with u that he doesnt have in ring skills he is more someone who is a brawler. and i cannot agree with you more about soulja boy he completely sux

tbh people can go on and act as smart about wrestling & know as much about wrestling as they like. but its the wrestlers that are consistantly putting their bodies on the line for what tho, sum dude who thinks he knows shit and slags off the wrestler safe away from that wrestler in their room on youtube hundreds of miles away. you're a good guy & I respect what you say, but i'm starting to get fed up of dudes who talk down to other dudes because they started watching wrestling afew years before
crazy mike, you're right to a point. Wrestling does cater towards the casual fan and thats where they are getting their money. but don't forget, the casual fan don't know half as much as a knowledgible fan does and the knowlegible fan is the kind of people that got wrestling through its dark stage not so long ago. woman are being terribly misused in companys like wwe & in my opinion woman shud be just as much used in wrestling as the guys. because if people think woman can't wrestle. their wrong

Well, Souljah isn't great anymore! After Crank Dat Soulja boy to me he never made a better song! Souljah boy is a 1 hit wonder in my view! But I agree and diagree about what he said about WWE an TNA!
You think what you think and i will think what i think! By that i mean you can tell somebody that a wrestler is not good just because you think that they are not good you couldn't do what they do 24/7!
you are soo right man, let's take cena for a example Cena has a good gimmick (for kids) but when he's in the ring he only does (top) 7 moves and that aint good. take Chris Benoit for a example it took benoit 18..YES 18!!! long years too get a world title. the same thing with Jeff hardy and matt hardy...it took them about 20 years..and why becuse they're gimmick's wasnt main event material?..thats what wrestling has become..yes....sure wrestling has allways been scripted
Actually he won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship before he was in WWE! And yes it is a world title! WWE lied to there fans and said it took the him that long!
yeah i know that Benoit was the WCW champ but now i was talking about the WWE world title not the wcw...it's like saying...punk was a ROH champ in ROH and that wwe lied about his first belt to be in wwe...they mean the it was his first World Title belt in the wwe not wcw...but WWE!
thank you... not big on wrestling anymore and personally in, like you said "todays society", I think persona is all the really matters anymore, if people wanted to see talent theyd watch ufc. But about the music yes thank.. I want to smack soulja boy and its music like this on the radio that makes the world dumber.. cmon people dip your feet into some jazz or somethan
crazymike1706, YOU SAID AUSTIN WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST GIMMICKS, FIRST OFF THAT WASNT A GIMMICK THATS HOW HE ACTS IN REAL LIFE THAT'S HIS SELF. AND YOU SAID HE WASN;T THAT GREAT IN THE RING, AUSTIN IS A GREAT WRESTLER. BUT EVERYTHING ELSE YOU SAID WAS RIGHT.
However a gd point made, this is what iv been trying to tell my friends. for example John Cena was one of the clutsiest wrestlers in the business wen he became champ for the first time bt due to his chaarisma he made it... I will also say that due to this Cena worked his ass off untill he reached a point where his wrestling ability matched his Charisma.
Austin was great in the ring he could draw you in and make you believe it, he sold it brilliantly the fans are smarter than you think, you can only go so far on charsima or a gimmick and the other way round
Id rather watch 1 Austin than a million Benjamins or kennedys or either Hardys
rockster509-People say Hogan was the biggest draw for the E but WWE officials and financial records indicate that Austin was the biggest draw in WWE history! As far as good selling is concerned, many big names had it. I never said Austin was bad; he just wasn't ever great in the ring.
Yea but when Hogan was drawing money the dollars wernt worth as much there wasnt 5% of the merchandise they've got now and the WWE is in more countries now Hogan brought people and eyes into the business whilst austin carried the WWE Hogan was the stand out guy at the time and PPVs built around showcasing him Austin also did more shows where as Hogan was twice a month bak in the 80's money drives performance basically
You cant possibly compare them because both from different era's with different circumstances the WWE was a different company back then
More people know Hulk Hogan he was the business for so long hogan didnt have the longievity that austin had at the heights Hogan vs Andre 93'000 ppl in the building alone Austins max was 63,000
Because you referenced to it, Lets face it your an american with no life Your just jealous you judge all these people but you've never stud in the ring felt it's alure imagine being an architect whos never lifted a brick your just hippocritical enforcing your oppinions on others based on no experience if you ever stood into the ring you would have a whole new respect
The Gimmick doesnt make the man, the man drives the Gimmick develops it makes it evolve the people are fickle want more n more
rockster509-And you're a pathetic loser that resorts to "cop outs" and red herring arguments. Lol-You were the one that contradicted yourself, and your saying that I referenced it.-Lol_You're a joke. Honestly, you have poor listening skills so you're a waist of time. Good bye.
Hey Rockster Fuck U Show some Respect to Crazymike, U talk about stepping in the ring???, i bet u haven't cause i sure have, i have been going 2 a pro wrestling school for around 5-8 years so i no what i'm talking about and i can tell u have never stepped in a ring urself. So Just Shut The FUck up, Btw your Jealous of crazymike, thats the only reason your bashing him!
i really respect that fact and i hated the song soja boy because it just says the same shit and stuff that does not make sense i like 50 cent and i totally agree with you
your unbiased which makes your videos near perfect. words can't explain how impressed (because I just found your videos) i am. I enjoyed the more intellegent side of the argument. I mean you had some great facts backing your comments. great stuff you won me over as an avid watcher (they may not be the right words)
Very intellegent well thought out and well said. I would like to add another very underrated wrestler of all time. Ravishing Rick Rude, this man got the Warrior over and tragically passed way too young. Just wanted to mention him here. Love your videos!
he makes a great point i cool that some one understands and says that if you dont like it and say all these things bout it why do you even keep watching it
i agree just about stone cold i think he was pretty good wrestler not great but a lil better then alrighgt i hear other ppl sayin he wasnet that good but ive seen tone of matchs i think hes pretty g00d
fans have no control in wrestling. the reason wwe makes the numbers they do (which'll drop by at least 1 if cena gets that belt back) is cuz they bought wcw. no more competition. therefore ppl who love wrestling are stuck w/ the crap they put no effort in making. no effort cuz there's no competition. just like music. when bet was bought out (long b4 soulja boy) the majors shut out the indies, giving us no choices. ps 50 is not talented AT ALL. throw in some little brother & lupe and we'll talk.
yeah man, they been got bought out. viacom has owned that piece of shit for 7 years now. or rather they made it a piece of shit. they're the same company who owns mtv, vh1, comedy central, & a bunch of other shit too. but my thing is this, since we don't own it or control it anymore, shouldn't they change the name? cause they stopped giving all black people a voice a long time ago. but then again bet's agenda now is to destroy you anyway. so why would they? ask aaron mcgruder (the boondocks).
I agree with everything other than the cassidy shit. Cassidy papoose real artist ? Lyrical Artists?naw bro . if you wanna here Real Lyrical shit listen To KRS ONE, Rakim, Old school nas, immortal technique and Some Big daddy kane. they are Lyrical Artists. Not cassidy or papoose. cassidy is good at metorphors and Papoose is really intelligent but they arnt Great.
Austin had good acting ability and that whole "get the boss" story he was great for it, austin was a great wrestler same as arnold is a great actor... yes they suck in technicality of their art wrestling and acting, but they were born for their parts stone cold and a cyborg.
Guy's like Eddie Guerrero, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit all had awesome in ring skill and very entertaining characters. O.K Benoit might have had a plain character, but the smartmarks and casual fan all loved him and respected him. good Wrestling skills AND good characters appeals to casual and smartmark fans.
I agree with pretty much everything up to your last comment. There's a huge difference between football and wrestling, and in wrestling, you don't want to see big guys that can't wrestle or take hits worth shit.
You know you 2 should let others post instead of constantly posting. I doubt crazy mike is gonna be any more your friend if he sees you posting 900 time or 1 time. hard for him to see feedback from everybody as well.
...to top it off, he used a CURB-STOMP variation and then, following the suggestion I made on the 'TOP 10 moves of Chris Hero' thread, he used the Hero's Welcome as a good, safe, finisher. The crowd seemed to be impressed, as was I. The point is, as CrazyMike said, that for the typical WWE (or TNA) fan, gimmicks, and other audio-visual stimuli (hot Divas) are what matter. It helps a lot when wrestlers look credible in-ring, but it really isn't necessary. Cody Rhodes is a champ, etc, etc...
...that is until Kofi started PUNCHING (wow!) the guy and then did his Jamaican dancing schtick. (Also, why does Kofi drop only his LEGS on the guy during the senton? A real one might hurt someone?) The crowd of course perked right up and loved him. Morons. Example 2: Paul Burchill debuted on RAW this week, but for this WWE go-around he had a hot babe with him and was NOT, repeat, NOT, wearing a mother-f-ing pirate costume and fighting like a douche...
By the way, I'm glad to see you back on the Tube Mike. Nice vid as always, and great points about GIMMICKS, and the SOCIETY that spawns bad wrestling product. Case in point on WWE: this new guy Kofi Kingston is a great athlete, and obviously has some in-ring skill. On LAST week's ECW he was having a match with a jobber, and for the first few minutes there was good technical back-and-forth wrestling. The brain-dead WWE crowd started BOOING...
I know this topic isn't exclusively about TNA, but I just can't stop bitching. It is an absolute disgusting joke what Russo and the bookers are doing to the X-division. Johnny Divine is a CHAMP?!? I know it's an angle but come on. Alex Shelley has never been X-champ and Divine HAS? Shit on TNA with a diseased rectum.
And assuredly, as the Lord liveth, for the Lord God hath spoken it, and it is his eternal aword, which cannot pass away, that they who are righteous shall be righteous still, and they who are filthy shall be filthy still; wherefore, they who are filthy are the devil and his angels; and they shall go away into everlasting fire, prepared for them; and their torment is as a lake of fire and brimstone, whose flame ascendeth up forever and ever and has no end.
and another thing smart fan. (i will not call myself one even though i might be ) like roh japan (counting most promotions) and various independents. is that it allows 1. to see truly talented performers and 2. we get see the evolution an innovation of the bussiness i am pretty sure cmike and the crew would agree. i do you heve a question mike do you have to post videos do be part of the round table discussion because i do think i would be able to add a little bit to the discussions
austin did suck in the ring as stone cold than compared to stunning steve mik just tell them to watch a tigermask v.s. the kid ikw it's called they are talented on the mic prime example the rock he was a decent in ring perform but his mic skills were through the roof and he will probably go down as the most famous wrestler in history and don't even start a comment after this with hogan. rock is way more talent in the ring that is part of the reason his movies do better than hogan's
WWE has the focus on the individuality of their characters and hell, in my opinion a lot of the guys in WWE that some would call talentless and overrated are pretty damn good at what they do.
If you take a look at how the WWE creatively "limits" their wrestlers' movesets, that is what the business is about is entertainment and consistency and especially with the WWE it has a heavy focus on ring psychology. You don't see some guys using the same finishing moves, you don't see some guys using the same submissions.
Nice video but I disagree on some of your assessments of guys who had good characters but you called talentless or lacking in the ring. Stone Cold I felt was very talented in the ring, before in his Stunning Steve Austin Hollywood Blonde gimmick and under Stone Cold. He could put together a good match and entertain a crowd. In my opinion I would call that talent. John Cena is the same way, no one is the greatest in the ring, but Cena knows how to put together a good match and he can work.
They are more focused on marketing looks, stereotypes, simplistic lyrics, the works. For these reasons, a lot of people who actually possess a lot of talent are held back ,not pushed, or not promoted. Damn shame really but unfortunately, that is how society works now. Instead of pushing talent, it's all about pushing who is considered "marketable" by today's standards.
What happened to the storytellers like Slick Rick, Grandmaster Flash, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Wu Tang Clan, NWA, those guys. Now we got these guys that can't rap for shit and sell millions off of stupidity. Don't even get me started with the grills fad. I listen to mostly the old school and indie stuff. Only listen to a few rappers of today's era. I miss the good old days. Nowadays, people are more into a catchy gimmick rather than real talent.
Excellent video, society is really sucking at the moment. You definitely made some good points. I miss the years when rap actually meant making statements, expressing yourself, telling a story in a way that people can relate to. Now they are catering to a younger generation where most of the fans will buy anything that is a catchy fad. Rap is now officially all about money, fine ass girls, who can make the best dance ever, etc. To me it seems like a get rich quick scheme.
fuccc that nigga solja boi aka solja bitch how tha fucc can a fuccn monky ass bitch like solja boi get signed lotta real niggas out rappn but ain get no were a fuccn idiot like solja bitch comes out wid tha biggest trash ever n gets sighned thatz y i awayz say fucc tha rap game
i Agree with The Great Performers that Are not gettin pushes look at Christopher daniels in tna. They Are Wasting Possibly the Greatest wrestler right now in ring.
Btw Cassidy and papoose are not Great . Listen to Rakim,Krs one, Some old nas shit . immortal Technique, Big daddy kane They are The Best lyricests.
Rakim was the best rapper 2 decades ago. What's best of Rakim then was that he didn't have to cuss in his songs. Unlike rappers since the 90's who be overdoing it with the cussing.
austin was also limited to what he could do in the ring after that crucial neck injury. but he could definitely wrestle. but ppl just dont get it - guys like austin and hogan never had to display much wrestling skills at the height of their popularity. it was all about their personas and thats what sells and thats what prowrestling is mostly geared too. its never been about technical wrestling. reading the audience and illiciting crowd reactions is just as or if not more important.
WAIT A SEC...austin was a fuckin good wrestler, technically sound and everything. check out his stuff from wcw with steamboat and even his in ring skills as the ringmaster, and his stuff with bret hart. he just didnt have to show his wrestling ability when he became so popular, coz his gimmick/attitude and him beating the shit out of ppl was what the fans wanted to see. i cant believe how you underestimate austin's wrestling ability. he always had it and was the complete package.
I agree. Austin had an amazing gimmick, BUT his in ring was basic and generic brawler. I swear I wish that I wish you could have lived in buffalo, I would have LOVED to have a friend that was SMART and talked about wrestling smart.
I agree with alot of things you said but as far as austin not being a good worker your crazy if you go back to before he broke his neck he had some great matches with pillman in wcw and in wwf so its not that he's not a good wrestler but i think its more that the younger kids want to see high spots and i dont know if thats how you feel but there's alot more that has to go into a match then high spots.
krame99-What grade are you in? I clearly said that Austin was better before the neck injury. He sustained that injury at SummerSlam 1997. So why are you telling me something that I already said and know. Lastly, I never said Austin was not a good worker.
mike-I just watched this video again and bro you never said anything about austin's neck injury am i missing something here???? and for the record you said quote- austin was not the greatest wrestler but he had a great gimmick...and all i said was he was alot better before the neck injury thats so i dont know if you are talking about another video but you said nothing about austins neck.
Definatley the similarities to Wreslting and Music in the negatives are spot-on. You can really apply those things to alot of different subject. Talent can be blind at times depending on if you can sell.
If you dont like a company / product stop paying attention to It Thats how to get what you want they want your attention and If they must change to get it they will but if your watchin every week and talkin about it buyin their merchandise and what not they wont change
WWE doesnt give a shit if you dont like Cena as long as you pay to see him
ur 100% right man. we bag out cena and ask "y dont they get rid of him if so many ppl dont like him?" well its because they still get money off him. and the ppl in the crowds are bagging him out, but theyre still paying money to see him, so vince keeps him in the spotlight. we need to voice our opinion the right way
I couldn't agree more with everything you said in this video. It's true that as time passed further away from the WWF's best era (1997-2001), movies, music, tv shows, and even commercials got crappier along with wrestling. I hope that there'll be a strong backlash against the media soon to greatly encourage improvement in absolutely everything.
The difference is that the music and movie industries are still highly competitive industries with like 10 studios fighting each other fiercely...which means you will get top notch product, even if one company (usually Fox) delivers crap.
Cant be said about wrestling industry. Vince is in full control.
Yo this Dude is actualy REAL,he's not bias and whats the word people say they like something then 2 seconds later they dont like it?...Well were gonna call that word RVDTITO4LIFE..Them dudes are retards..yes the wwe is lacking in just about everything, but who the fuck are they too say some NO NAME ass company like TNA is better than the wwe?...I will and can defend my argument will real facts....like sharkboy...and the son whos a retard that doesn't feel pain angle.reminds me taker and kane.lol
I agree! I hated Transformers!! worse film I saw last year :) but we can thank the companys/directors that will make great movies still :) as for wrestling, if people dont like WWE etc. maybe they should check out Japanese wrestling!! Crazymike has mentioned this before! I know I like it! if people stick to WWE and ignore what else is out there!! they shouldn't make some changes :)
Some wrestlers are the same as Comicbook characters!! people love it :) Hulk Hogan is like a Batman or something :) people pay attention to that alot more
who is any smart fan to say austin was that great have u ever worked with him bret hart wrestled him a bunch of times and said he was great to work with also match ratings are never official so when meltzer gives a match a 5 star rating it doesnt mean it is every one has different opinions on which match was 5 stars meltzers radar normally goes to japan for any big match anyway
dodopop123-Lol. You're not understanding me. In some cases we are agreeing with each other yet, you're not realizing it. The rating system in general is stupid. (The point we agree on) What I'm saying is that if a star rating system shall be implemented, only a very small amount of people can do it.
me parece muy bueno todo eso que dice, pero creo que al final la conclusion es muy valida, pero aplicable solo en el gabacho... aca en mex, es parecido pero neel, ya no queremos ver mamadotes...
Dawg you are so right, at first I thought "what's so bad about judging based on gimmick?" Now you compare it to rap music, and i see how right you are. however, gimmicks are important, and they should give good wrestlers better gimmicks.
i agree with you i mean back in the day i loved Hulk Hogan and the Warrior and Hulk i still love but i do agree he hasnt got the best in ring talent. Austin he is another one i like him alot but he doesnt do much in ring he never really did in WCW or ECW but after his neck injury he started doing even less. keep the good videos comeing
Wow-I'm really not understanding the thought process of some of the people commenting. I clearly said the Austin was better before the neck injury and I'm getting people telling me about WCW and ECW. For all you people that don't use your brain: Austin had his injury in the WWE caused by Owen. I can't believe I had to explain that.
Ummm Austin had awesome matches even after his neck injury. Look back at his match with HHH at NWO 2001 which was considered a 5 star match and MOTY by many people. I cant believe I had to explain THAT.
giver123-That was a gimmick match that was well booked. That doesn't have much to do with skill. As far as ratings are concerned, if Meltzer isn't giving it a five star rating then screw (Almost) everyone else's rating. Ratings these days are so stupid, and highly flawed. C-mon you have a bunch of people who only watch the E trying to give out star rating. That's just a joke!-You loose.
Who cares about Meltzer. He gave Joe vs Kobashi a 5 star match and that was just a glorified chop-fest. Actually most of those people who gave it five stars have seen ROH and AJPW so you lose buddy. The match itself HHH vs Austin the first 30 minutes was more than enough for the 5 stars. This won MOTY in almost everyone's opinion at the year's end. There are feature length movies that don't have this kind of epic storyline. This match is a work of art.
I'm not saying it is I'm just saying why should you consider Meltzer as pretty much only guy who can say If it's a 5 star match or not? He also gave hbk vs taker a 5 star match and that match was a gimmick match as well which you claim doesn't take much skill. The bottom line is the reason I think most of those people who gave it 5 stars gave it that rating because the match(Austin vs HHH) had great storytelling and drama to it. Even though it's a gimmick match you still need skill
Your right on 1 thing though. Some of these reviewers(especially at 411 mania) have never seen any AJPW or Roh or any type of indy promotion they've mostly just seen WWE. But the people who I've seen give it a five star match are pretty credible and have seen a lot of wrestling. There's a lot more of these people then you think.
y2jbrock-No disrespect but if you never herd people saying that Warrior and Hogan were great wrestlers, you must be some kid in your early teens. Lol-Dude, you think I've never seen the original ECW or the NWA/WCW? C-mon. I've seen his matches back then, and even then, he wasn't the G.O.A.T.
its true, that gimmick means more than wrestling ability, but having skill on top of charisma makes the difference between say, hbk (someone with both), and jeff hardy (someone with charisma and gimmick, but some would call a spot monkey). that said I agree with most of what you said.
Can't help but agree here.

Actually he won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship before he was in WWE! And yes it is a world title! WWE lied to there fans and said it took the him that long!
CactusJack1834 2 years ago
yeah i know that Benoit was the WCW champ but now i was talking about the WWE world title not the wcw...it's like saying...punk was a ROH champ in ROH and that wwe lied about his first belt to be in wwe...they mean the it was his first World Title belt in the wwe not wcw...but WWE!
cmd1995 2 years ago
no wwe didnt lie...yes Benoit did win the WCW World Title...but...it was his First World Title in the wwe.

Did u just say 50 cent is talented, lol
However a gd point made, this is what iv been trying to tell my friends. for example John Cena was one of the clutsiest wrestlers in the business wen he became champ for the first time bt due to his chaarisma he made it... I will also say that due to this Cena worked his ass off untill he reached a point where his wrestling ability matched his Charisma.

Austin was great in the ring he could draw you in and make you believe it, he sold it brilliantly the fans are smarter than you think, you can only go so far on charsima or a gimmick and the other way round
Id rather watch 1 Austin than a million Benjamins or kennedys or either Hardys
rockster509 3 years ago
rockster509-People say Hogan was the biggest draw for the E but WWE officials and financial records indicate that Austin was the biggest draw in WWE history! As far as good selling is concerned, many big names had it. I never said Austin was bad; he just wasn't ever great in the ring.
crazymike1706 3 years ago
Yea but when Hogan was drawing money the dollars wernt worth as much there wasnt 5% of the merchandise they've got now and the WWE is in more countries now Hogan brought people and eyes into the business whilst austin carried the WWE Hogan was the stand out guy at the time and PPVs built around showcasing him Austin also did more shows where as Hogan was twice a month bak in the 80's money drives performance basically
rockster509 3 years ago
rockster509-I believe you are referring to inflation in your first sentence; that doesn't change the fact that Austin brought was the bigger draw.
crazymike1706 3 years ago
You cant possibly compare them because both from different era's with different circumstances the WWE was a different company back then
More people know Hulk Hogan he was the business for so long hogan didnt have the longievity that austin had at the heights Hogan vs Andre 93'000 ppl in the building alone Austins max was 63,000
rockster509 3 years ago
rockster509-"You cant possibly compare them because both from different era's"-So then why did you do it not once, but twice?
crazymike1706 3 years ago
Because you referenced to it, Lets face it your an american with no life Your just jealous you judge all these people but you've never stud in the ring felt it's alure imagine being an architect whos never lifted a brick your just hippocritical enforcing your oppinions on others based on no experience if you ever stood into the ring you would have a whole new respect
The Gimmick doesnt make the man, the man drives the Gimmick develops it makes it evolve the people are fickle want more n more
rockster509 3 years ago
rockster509-And you're a pathetic loser that resorts to "cop outs" and red herring arguments. Lol-You were the one that contradicted yourself, and your saying that I referenced it.-Lol_You're a joke. Honestly, you have poor listening skills so you're a waist of time. Good bye.

fans have no control in wrestling. the reason wwe makes the numbers they do (which'll drop by at least 1 if cena gets that belt back) is cuz they bought wcw. no more competition. therefore ppl who love wrestling are stuck w/ the crap they put no effort in making. no effort cuz there's no competition. just like music. when bet was bought out (long b4 soulja boy) the majors shut out the indies, giving us no choices. ps 50 is not talented AT ALL. throw in some little brother & lupe and we'll talk.

yeah man, they been got bought out. viacom has owned that piece of shit for 7 years now. or rather they made it a piece of shit. they're the same company who owns mtv, vh1, comedy central, & a bunch of other shit too. but my thing is this, since we don't own it or control it anymore, shouldn't they change the name? cause they stopped giving all black people a voice a long time ago. but then again bet's agenda now is to destroy you anyway. so why would they? ask aaron mcgruder (the boondocks).

...to top it off, he used a CURB-STOMP variation and then, following the suggestion I made on the 'TOP 10 moves of Chris Hero' thread, he used the Hero's Welcome as a good, safe, finisher. Cody Rhodes is a champ, etc, etc...
achinn99 4 years ago
...that is until Kofi started PUNCHING (wow!) the guy and then did his Jamaican dancing schtick. (Also, why does Kofi drop only his LEGS on the guy during the senton? A real one might hurt someone?) The crowd of course perked right up and loved him. Morons. Example 2: Paul Burchill debuted on RAW this week, but for this WWE go-around he had a hot babe with him and was NOT, repeat, NOT, wearing a mother-f-ing pirate costume and fighting like a douche...
achinn99 4 years ago
By the way, I'm glad to see you back on the Tube Mike. Nice vid as always, and great points about GIMMICKS, and the SOCIETY that spawns bad wrestling product. Case in point on WWE: this new guy Kofi Kingston is a great athlete, and obviously has some in-ring skill. On LAST week's ECW he was having a match with a jobber, and for the first few minutes there was good technical back-and-forth wrestling. The brain-dead WWE crowd started BOOING...
achinn99 4 years ago
I know this topic isn't exclusively about TNA, but I just can't stop bitching. It is an absolute disgusting joke what Russo and the bookers are doing to the X-division. Johnny Divine is a CHAMP?!? I know it's an angle but come on. Alex Shelley has never been X-champ and Divine HAS? Shit on TNA with a diseased rectum.

And assuredly, as the Lord liveth, for the Lord God hath spoken it, and it is his eternal aword, which cannot pass away, that they who are righteous shall be righteous still, and they who are filthy shall be filthy still; wherefore, they who are filthy are the devil and his angels; and they shall go away into everlasting fire, prepared for them; and their torment is as a lake of fire and brimstone, whose flame ascendeth up forever and ever and has no end.

austin did suck in the ring as stone cold than compared to stunning steve mik just tell them to watch a tigermask v.s. the kid ikw it's called they are talented on the mic prime example the rock he was a decent in ring perform but his mic skills were through the roof and he will probably go down as the most famous wrestler in history and don't even start a comment after this with hogan. rock is way more talent in the ring that is part of the reason his movies do better than hogan's

WWE has the focus on the individuality of their characters and hell, in my opinion a lot of the guys in WWE that some would call talentless and overrated are pretty damn good at what they do.
IKnowsWrestling 4 years ago
If you take a look at how the WWE creatively "limits" their wrestlers' movesets, that is what the business is about is entertainment and consistency and especially with the WWE it has a heavy focus on ring psychology. You don't see some guys using the same finishing moves, you don't see some guys using the same submissions.
IKnowsWrestling 4 years ago
Nice video but I disagree on some of your assessments of guys who had good characters but you called talentless or lacking in the ring. Stone Cold I felt was very talented in the ring, before in his Stunning Steve Austin Hollywood Blonde gimmick and under Stone Cold. He could put together a good match and entertain a crowd. In my opinion I would call that talent. John Cena is the same way, no one is the greatest in the ring, but Cena knows how to put together a good match and he can work.
IKnowsWrestling 4 years ago
They are more focused on marketing looks, stereotypes, simplistic lyrics, the works. For these reasons, a lot of people who actually possess a lot of talent are held back ,not pushed, or not promoted. Damn shame really but unfortunately, that is how society works now. Instead of pushing talent, it's all about pushing who is considered "marketable" by today's standards.
GoddessOfTheDark88 4 years ago
What happened to the storytellers like Slick Rick, Grandmaster Flash, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Wu Tang Clan, NWA, those guys. Now we got these guys that can't rap for shit and sell millions off of stupidity. Don't even get me started with the grills fad. I listen to mostly the old school and indie stuff. Only listen to a few rappers of today's era. I miss the good old days. Nowadays, people are more into a catchy gimmick rather than real talent.
GoddessOfTheDark88 4 years ago
Excellent video, society is really sucking at the moment. You definitely made some good points. I miss the years when rap actually meant making statements, expressing yourself, telling a story in a way that people can relate to. Now they are catering to a younger generation where most of the fans will buy anything that is a catchy fad. Rap is now officially all about money, fine ass girls, who can make the best dance ever, etc. To me it seems like a get rich quick scheme.

austin was also limited to what he could do in the ring after that crucial neck injury. but he could definitely wrestle. but ppl just dont get it - guys like austin and hogan never had to display much wrestling skills at the height of their popularity. it was all about their personas and thats what sells and thats what prowrestling is mostly geared too. its never been about technical wrestling. reading the audience and illiciting crowd reactions is just as or if not more important.
Vig27 4 years ago
WAIT A SEC...austin was a fuckin good wrestler, technically sound and everything. check out his stuff from wcw with steamboat and even his in ring skills as the ringmaster, and his stuff with bret hart. he just didnt have to show his wrestling ability when he became so popular, coz his gimmick/attitude and him beating the shit out of ppl was what the fans wanted to see. i cant believe how you underestimate austin's wrestling ability. he always had it and was the complete package.
Vig27 4 years ago

krame99 4 years ago

If WWE is appealing to "casual" fans right now then why arent they growing?
When the WWF/WCW were getting 6.0s each, THAT was when the casual fans were on board.
Who's on board now? Leftover hardcore fans and youngsters. Everyone else went away, basically.

TrueWrestlingGods 4 years ago
ur 100% right man. we bag out cena and ask "y dont they get rid of him if so many ppl dont like him?" well its because they still get money off him. and the ppl in the crowds are bagging him out, but theyre still paying money to see him, so vince keeps him in the spotlight. we need to voice our opinion the right way
mrfantastic111 4 years ago
I couldn't agree more with everything you said in this video. It's true that as time passed further away from the WWF's best era (1997-2001), movies, music, tv shows, and even commercials got crappier along with wrestling. I hope that there'll be a strong backlash against the media soon to greatly encourage improvement in absolutely everything.
BlueDragon077 4 years ago
The difference is that the music and movie industries are still highly competitive industries with like 10 studios fighting each other fiercely...which means you will get top notch product, even if one company (usually Fox) delivers crap.
Cant be said about wrestling industry. Vince is in full control.

dodopop123-Lol. You're not understanding me. In some cases we are agreeing with each other yet, you're not realizing it. The rating system in general is stupid. fortesque 4 years ago
Wow-I'm really not understanding the thought process of some of the people commenting. I clearly said the Austin was better before the neck injury and I'm getting people telling me about WCW and ECW. For all you people that don't use your brain: Austin had his injury in the WWE caused by Owen. I can't believe I had to explain that.
crazymike1706 4 years ago
Ummm Austin had awesome matches even after his neck injury. Look back at his match with HHH at NWO 2001 which was considered a 5 star match and MOTY by many people. I cant believe I had to explain THAT.
giver123 4 years ago
giver123-That was a gimmick match that was well booked. That's just a joke!-You loose.
crazymike1706 4 years ago
Who cares about Meltzer. He gave Joe vs Kobashi a 5 star match and that was just a glorified chop-fest. Actually most of those people who gave it five stars have seen ROH and AJPW so you lose buddy. The match itself HHH vs Austin the first 30 minutes was more than enough for the 5 stars. This won MOTY in almost everyone's opinion at the year's end. There are feature length movies that don't have this kind of epic storyline. This match is a work of art.
giver123 4 years ago
giver123-Read my response to you again. Also, why would your opinion be more valid then Melzers?

I've never heard anybody say warrior and hogan were great wrestlers. And BTW Austin was a great wrestler in ring back in ECW and WCW.

y2jbrock-No disrespect but if you never herd people saying that Warrior and Hogan were great wrestlers, you must be some kid in your early teens. Lol-Dude, you think I've never seen the original ECW or the NWA/WCW? C-mon. I've seen his matches back then, and even then, he wasn't the G.O.A.T.

Good video but I disagree when you said Austin was never really a great in-ring worker. Just go watch his WCW stuff.

its true, that gimmick means more than wrestling ability, but having skill on top of charisma makes the difference between say, hbk (someone with both), and jeff hardy (someone with charisma and gimmick, but some would call a spot monkey). that said I agree with most of what you said.
