I hate it when people say she's so full of herself, because honestly, she CAN be full of herself, because she is great, she's a star, and she's a legend. She can be happy about it because she's worked hard for it.
she is amazing and a being of light.. she spreads wanted joy in places where joy needs and is talented beyond measure and can make u turn ur frown upside down.. that is a defintion of a star
I don't get why in every interview on Barbra they have to bring up the "perfectionist" thing, like it's negative? And the interviewers always make it sound negative. I think it's positive to do the best you possibly can, and you expect others to do the same, especially if your name and reputation are at stake. She is a product to sell, and she is hardest on herself first, so that's what a perfectionist means. I'm glad she strives for perfection in her art.
The best female entertainer of all time. She is a music legend. Also, for all your critics out there - last year she donated $25 million dollars to charity for all sorts of causes. And her last concert proceeds mostly also went to charity.
fuck her!!! Rex Reed said in a candid interview that Babs was being admired by her fans from afar.
Fans=bread and butter. Ka-ching. Winning!
And Rex said he over heard Babs tell a friend, can someone shot them. She is a fucking, fat nose hoe. She better be lucky to have the wealth that she does and the connections.
"Babs" is a disgusting pig. She admitted in her interviews with Oprah that she hired gardeners to make the roses outside match the decor inside her house. She also required that two maintenance men drive out on CHRISTMAS day to cut down a fucking branch that was covering her name on a marquee. She is an absolute pig. Hiring people for the task of matching her flowers outside to her curtains inside while there are millions worldwide starving to death. I would not spit on her if she were on fire.
I'll tell you why Barbra, every time I hear your vioce goose bumps run up and down my arm. I trully look up to you, I hope some day I can be at least one eight of how good you are. Keep singing and don't ever stop.
I think someone should make a movie...comedy or drama....with Barbra Streisand and Jennifer Aniston.....as mother and daughter....Have always thought they could pass as such....Would be interesting seeing them perform opposite one another. Anyone agree?
highdopaminelevel... You are correct, it is Something's Coming. There is, however, a song titled Somewhere in West Side Story. It's the fire escape scene between Maria and Tony.
@Matto2t i don't think so..i'm pretty sure it's Something's Coming..it goes like "it may come cannon balling down through the sky, gleam in its eye...i feel the drumming (?) and something great is coming.."
@LYG16 It's called "Somewhere" from West Side Story. She had initially recorded it back in 1985, and it was released on her Broadway Album from that year.
A true original. There has never been nor will there ever be another one like Barbra. So...if there is any mother, father, or agent out ther thinking that they have "the next Barbra" tucked away in the wings waiting to take center stage...think again.
I adore Babs.. like I adore Callas.. Fabulous musicians... bring realism to their work, along with .. fabulous vocalism... There is so much about Barbra's work that is so subtle , musical and exquiste.
@ctb02809 TRUE. But BARBRA has been tenacious in her assertion of SOLE authorship. Every time she mentions that song in a concert, never is anyone else mentioned. She wanted the song to be hers. It has ZERO to do with the money. She just wanted to say she wrote the song, alone, and williams didn't have the guts to stand up to her, even on principle, so, she won.
@SultrySole Technically, maybe not, but she has been CONSISTENT for the last 30 plus years in her assertion of sole authorship. You can call an APPLE an ORANGE so many times that when you bite into an apple you taste orange juice. Barbra kept saying "MY SONG. MY SONG. The song I wrote. and NO ONE refuted her. Silence became consent and now, I feel free to write as she says, "EVERGREEN: Love theme from A Star is Born. Words and Music: B. Streisand.
"when it's a women it's like she's a pain in the ass ...................... excuse me." hahaha she knows how to be serious, but not be serious at the same time, but get her point across :D
I guess we've all figured it out by now. She will never become an old lady. I go WAY back to her appearance before she was even signed to a record label at the Crystal Palace in Gaslight Square in St. Louis. She was considering signing with Epic! As now, as a person she was calm, quiet speaking, thoughtful, shiningly intelligent and she wasn't some diva or outsized show biz personality. She was like, well, a Yeshiva student! I think she still is!
It's not Bab's fault, but what an insipid interview. She's been asked the same Gol Darn questions over and over again. Her new album is marvelous and she's very brave, going for those high notes, eventhough her musculature isn't always there...but who cares! Every album is a gift to all of us:)
Her music is timeless, she still has the voice and still looks great. She deserves happiness in her personal life after touching others with romantic songs.
I wish her well. Shame the younger stars don't have it like the older stars.
In April of 1964, my great Aunt Julie and I stood in line at the Wintergarten box office and purchased tickets for Funny Girl. I do remember that we paid $9 for our seats.

What do I remember about this? Most of all her presence on the stage. I was just 20 years old, but I will remember this performance when I get to my grave.

One of the funniest things that happened was right before she sang "People" Barbra and Syd Chaplin, who played Nicky Arnstein, were sitting outside on "Henry Street."
