first time ive heard kyuss- and its been a band ive wanted to check since I heard qotsa rated r. faaarkn rad cant believe it took so long to check these guys out. Kinda sound like they influenced by early soundgarden maybe???

not at all. soundgarden is not even the same league as kyuss. this song was written by josh homme, which was the beginning of his songwriting style that was prevalent on his qotsa records later on. i like soundgarden too, but even they were in awe of kyuss despite being bigger with the grunge boom at that time.

since it's ur first time, i suggest u listen to yawning man or across the river, then discover more on ur own. they were kyuss' main influences while the boys were growing up.

They aren't the same man. In an interview with Josh, he says that they don't want to play the same thing as Kyuss, they didn't want to become Kyuss Jr. So, you can't really compare two bands that don't have the similar sounds. They are both GREAT though....

IMO it was a great choice. Being a Kyuss Jr. would've been a pretty mediocre thing to do, those things are never the same as the original. Besides, he had plenty of talent to try new things.
