I totally agree with WillyJay3461...Buddy and Leon were the greatest combination of talent I ever heard. I know ET had many talented musicians in his band and each was great in his own right, but these two were off the hook!!! I grieve the loss of Buddy Charleton....it's almost like losing a family member. I always felt very close to certain members of the Troubadours band...they were like brothers...I knew them like a book. May Buddy RIP....he was awesome!
Wow! Sweet memories of staying up till midnight to watch the "ET Show". Just to see Bud Charleton and hear that steel guitar! Sorry to hear of Buddy's passing! We
Yes, we lost Buddy Charleton this week and he truly was a master at his craft which was undeniably a tremendous sound and he put alot of soul into his music. I still believe he and Leon Rhodes were the ultimate duo combination on steel and standard guitar that ever recorded c/w music. Their music is as fresh today as it was when they recorded it. R.I.P. Buddy we will always love you.
@Adairpsg Before Buddy passed on (lung cancer) he was living in (or near) Orange, VA and teaching Steel at his close friend....Billy Coopers Music and Pedal Steel Store in Orange. A legend among
legends of The Greatest Steel players in the world.......in my humble opinion.
my husband and I knew Buddy when he first started out in a local band in Virginia where he is from....followed him thru his career with Tubb as we are all Tubb fans....he was with Ernest for 17 years and decided he was thru and left....greatest ever..I go to steel guitar jams and all you have to do is mention Buddy and all know him.......
Buddy playing this is so "BEAUTIFUL" I't don't get any better than this! Now this is REAL COUNTRY& the way it is supposed to be Please keep them coming & Many Thanks Bill.
Nobody could do it like Buddy Charelton. Suprisingly Bobby Caldwell got his part note for note just like Leon Rhodes. Brings back a lot of memories.

@TTexas2 I should certainly hope so. You are hearing it from the original player on this song.

Too bad he disappeared. His steel on "Say something nice to Sarah" is classic. Does anyone remember it?

Orange......and he teaches steel at Billy
Coopers Music on Constitution Hwy just about 4mi east of Orange......was with him just last friday. He's as smooth on the Steel as ever.

Charleton is the smoothest Steel player ever to live and the recordings he played on and live performances like this prove it!
