Zuko had been getting stronger, so even if they were even before, that would of changed. It was more a mental breakdown than losing her sanity though, as she still had her wits about her in battle. She avoided trying to expose a weakness in her ability by avoiding lightning and did not hesitate to attack an unsuspecting Katara after all.

The creators are expanded it alittle bit, a new mini series was announced sometime last year called Avatar: The Legend Of Korra. it takes place some decades in the future all the old cast is dead presumably

It has several of the anime properties, huge eyes and such stylistic things, but I doubt you'd call that an anime, would you? Avatar was done to mimick anime properties with American style plot, mystery, etc. That SunCoast (a failing store in my area, oddly enough) wants to cash in on the popular cartoon doesn't alter what it is.

@CORRUPTsn1per Uh huh... and I'm an actual animator. It is anime style, but it is not an anime. The distinction is important. Anime is specifically Japanese. It can influence anime-like work elsewhere, but that does not make this an anime. It is an American cartoon, and you won't find it in any anime section at Best Buy because even those loco's get the difference.
