Lol...The Union were in the shape of a fiskhook on Friday July 2. The top at LITTLE ROUND TOP (not big) the pointy part at Culp's Hill. The 20th Maine commaned by Joshua Lawerence Chamberlain was the Union left. Yes his regiment ran out of ammo and they charged "saving the day" but an equaly similar thing happened on Culps Hill which also saved the day. The 20th maine is more popular becuase Joshua Chamberlain live longer and was more envolved than General Greene on Culps Hill.
kissarmysoljar000 you had a 1 big error calling Chamberlain colonel of the 2nd Maine, he was leader of the 20th Maine. Even then there was misconceptions about him holding the left because he was part of Vincent's Brigade who was the one first notified to hold that spot on Round Top. I would also give you a few reasons why his charge was a good call for him, but did not win the day so I'll just say that even if he fled the Confederates lost before the fight due to the long march there.
You got this history all wrong! This regiment was the last line of defense at Gettysburg on Day 2; led by Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlein, the Union held position at Big Round Top and when they ran out of ammol Chamberlein is the one who said "BAENETTES!" and the Union charged and won the Day 2 battle! Thats why they call it "Chamberlein's Charge"
Maybe you got yr history wrong! The union did not hold positions on big round top! They only had troops on little round top aka Colonel Chamberlien's 2nd Maine! That was the extreme union left! No troops where actually held on big round top untill the next day...Although there was a small scouting party...sounds like you only watched to movie. :p
It was fought in the Peach Orchard, but it was Longstreet engaging Sickles there. Neither Lee nor Meade were at the Peach Orchard. The Peach Orchard, however, did not see the heaviest fighting. Rather, Little Round Top and the Wheatfield did.
@lougoproductions actually peach orchard was just one of the many places and not exactly the most fought around. Wheatfield peach orchard little round top and even culps hill saw alot of fighting
this sucks

It was a peach. If anyone does their research, day 2 was fought mostly around a peach orchard.
