  • I use 203 grain rounds for my dad's mosin nagant. Dam you should have seen people were like, dude you would be able to handle that, and I was like, Well just did and Im doing it again.

  • mmmm vapor trails

  • Wow, that old rifle lets off quite a bit of recoil. And a thousand yards? Awesome. I bet it could shoot farther.

    Maybe.

  • my new england mosin-nagant iron sights goes up two 3200 yards thats 1.8 mile ..........

  • Considering getting one at next weekend's show. You pretty much sealed the deal for me!

  • 0:44 ouh my ass

  • You need some additional pressure, similar to that of WW2-Stalingrad assault. Such as motars, 1000 man assaults, grenades, people dying and German 88's coming fire at you. Now, can you take as long to get 5 shots off?

  • "Please God..." Because we all know that supreme deities have a vested interest in the shooting abilities of vintage sniper weapons!! :-) Nice shooting by the way.

  • All my Russian M91's seem to like 150 grain spitzers best, with IMR 4064. Maybe they would not be good for 1,000 meters, but group wise on paper, I can't beat that combo.

  • Considering vintage of weapon & site plus range & it sounded like you had more than just a slight breeze to deal with on top of everything else, that was some pretty fine shooting, nice to watch.

Also it was interesting to see your middle finger trigger technique, something I haven't seen for a very long time & not that often, also used by a fine marksman/sniper with the South African Recon Commando.

Keep it up & keep enjoying your shooting.

  • looks like a fun rifle to shoot ..thinking of getting one just for shits and giggles

  • Can a M44 do the same thing? Or at least 800 yards?

  • Try the Lapua D166 bullet if the bore diameter corresponds. In my Finn M39's with Norma brass and Vihtavuori powder the results are spectacular. As you are well aware COL, charge weight, primer, etc is subjective due to so many variables, but you also realize I'm preaching to choir on this subject................ :)

  • i love the way WWII rifles are so rugged,

  • Can this incredible accurization be done with pretty much any Mosin?

  • I shot a steel plate 18 inches high and 18 inches wide from 200 yds with no scope and in the off-hand .... they are pretty acurate to be so old ...

  • Amazing build, It makes me cringe when I think about how much I paid for my rifle for F class matches. Your entire setup probably costs a fraction of what my scope alone does. Though my eyes aren't nearly as good as they use to be so I need good glass on the rifle. It looks like I'm going to have to find a good Mosin for a project gun now.

  • The mosin is a great rifle. Not many people give them the respect they deserve. Plus, you can pick one up for around 100 bucks. This guy does some very good shooting. Keep up the good work!

  • @BlackFlagProperty here is the funny thin people think since it's german and more expensive it's obviously a better rifle (kar98k and mosin have the same moa) (m44 or m39 or any high quality mosin will out shoot a mosin) kar98ks are amazing accurate rifles but there are a lot of mosins out there that make kar98k look like trash and still 50% cheaper

  • I want to learn to shoot long range like this. I hit targets 400 meters away no problem but ive never shot anything over 600 meters.

  • Great shooting. Anyone who still needs talked into buying Mosin, check my channel. Hey shooter, I am in Vegas and those mountains look familiar. Which one of these desert states are you in?

  • Fantastic shooting.

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • mag30th: my MN91/30 is a 1937 tula, round receiver, recrowned, floated, bedded, 4x32 EER, very nice bore. 0.3115" groove2groove. My choices are 174gr, 185gr, 200gr for reaching out to 880m. Based on your experience, can you lead me to the better choice in terms of bullet mass, and bullet diameter? Powder I can figure out. This again is for 880m or more. I have to use EER beacuse of my eyes. It is just me. Thanks.

  • @alsatian9130 1 of 2 Without experimenting with each load on your rifle and just guessing, I would go with either the 174 (.311) or the 200 Lapua (in .310), and out of those two with yours at .3115, I think your best bet would be with the 174 match. In this rifle here in this video, 200 grain in .308 worked best, while the .308 diameter bullet was terrible in my other rifles.

  • 2 of 2 The Lapua seems to work very well overall in all the rifles in all of the rifles, while in my original 91.30 sniper, the 174 in .311 (with 48.1 of 4320 IMR) flat out was the best. I sounds like a beautiful rifle you have there, I hope it works out for you.

  • @mag30th -> thank you for your thoughts and time. I have a lot of success with 148gr ussr lps up to 460m, then up from there brown bear 174gr/185gr FMJ. I just wondered about a 200gr, I will most likely have to swage my own lead bullets and jackets. I will stick with 148/174gr set since they work well. If you have anymore info, or just wanna chat 7.62x54r, please do so. You are a real marksman. Its nice to see artwork once in a while. Keep up the good work. From upstate NY

  • Wow!

  • I just think you are fantastic. Thank you!

  • i have a 1937 ,its the same thing how much would mine be worth, mine has the star with the arrow in the middle, and no markings whats so ever, please help me

  • @mr010tommy010 sht nice find, no random markings on the receiver?

  • @Mrgoodnyt JUST A STAR WITH A ARROW

  • this is awsome!! What kind of scope mount are you using?

  • it seems to me that your on line but skiping the rounds to target by falling short a few feet

  • what's the wind speed during that time?

  • @Pipicification im guessing you're the stupid one as well.

  • im thinking about buying a scope for my mosin but i really like the iron sights idk haha

  • @johnpond69 I wanted to but it turns out the original PU scope cost more than the rifle plus having a gunsmith to drill and tap it, too expensive. Iron sights FTW!

  • Simo Häyhä could do this with iron sights, winter winds and whole crack units of Russian snipers after him. Man was a freak with the Mosin Nagant.

  • @NeonSloaney Agreed - Simo was a complete badass... 550 confirmed kills with a Mosin-Nagant in -40 to -20 degree temps...

  • i dont see the bullet...

  • Got any vids on what you did to the rifle? I see guys buying after market stocks and then complaining about them. Would love to see a vid on bedding a Mosin in its original stock. Thanks so much for making this video!

  • your livin my dream man, I really want to get onto a 1000m range. But that kinda distance is real hard to come by out here in the east. Nice shooting!

  • man i love this rifle

  • What brand of ammo did u use?

  • One of my best students!

  • errrrmm why does he uses his middle finger?

  • @903strikerunit I have nerve damage from a neck injury, my index finger and thumb on both hands used to give me lots of "issues." But in the last few years things have improved somewhat and Ive been able to shoot some of my rifles with the index finger.

  • @mag30th Does this rifle kick alot im 14 and i think these guns are amazing and would love to have one but imma use it to plink and target practice and that means im going to put lots of rounds through it and dont want my shoulder to get sore real fast

  • @0N35595 they dont kick too hard im 16 and i love my mosin. its a great gun for a some one your age.

  • @0N35595 Plinking with 7.62x56mm ammo is going to get VERY expensive very quickly... You're looking at around $0.75 every time you pull the trigger... For plinking, I recommend something like a Ruger 10/22... MUCH cheaper ammo and just as much fun to shoot...

  • @ChrisCDK ive found cheap ammo for it and i dont want a .22

  • @ChrisCDK It's 7.62x54R, not 7.62x56 and it's rather cheap - surplus "plinking grade" ammo runs like $80 for 440 rounds (about $0.18 per shot)

  • @mag30th Man, that must have been pretty hard with that trigger pull!

  • @903strikerunit Many precision rifle shooters will use their middle finger on the trigger it gives a "weird" feeling on the finger and for me results in less trigger jerk and therefore smaller groups

  • @melvinpw72 i tried it on my kar98k and it's kinda hard

  • i was thinking about getting one and floating the barrel and glass bedding it myself.for a fun project and it's cheap enough.did you do the work yourself?

  • Best rifle of WWll

  • This is a great rifle for killing people!

  • Are you using a Timney trigger because it looks like you flip the safety off at one point during the film. Awesome shooting by the way the concentration and focus to make a shot like that is incredible.

  • I noticed you do alot of these videos. i want to know where u get your ammo. I want to buy a nagant but I cant find any boxer primed brass case ammo for it. All I can find is bulk crap steel cases. Any ideas?

  • Dude, how can you even see that target at 1000 yards with only a 3.5x scope?

  • @CamoNammo skill?

  • hello, mag30th,

would you say the mosin is more accurate in an aftermarket synthetic stock, or the original russian? i have done alot of work to mine in a synthetic (free floating the barrel and such) but thinking of putting it into the original wood again.

  • Is this gun reliable , no problems and cons ? I'm just curious because the price of one seems very cheap .Any help will be appreciated , thanks.

  • @WinterizedGhillie It's cheap because there were something like 17 million of them made. They were used in both world wars and production was stopped in 1944 to be replaced by the SKS. I have a chinese made SKS with a shortened barrel and can shoot a 2 1/2 inch pattern a 100 yards with mil surp ammo. Just bought a 91/30 Mosin Nagant that I have not had a chance to shoot yet.

  • @WinterizedGhillie just bought one yesterday. other videos have mention the trigger being to long. mine was the direct opposite. once in a while the firing pin would engage on its own when i put the bolt into position. if i had a live round there, it would have fired. i tried to adjust it at first by removing the trigger assembly but my trigger pin would not come out even with liquid wrench. so i messed with it for a couple of hours and finally got to where it is now safe to take to range.

  • Hey i have the same rifle just the rifle version.? if i put a monte carlo stock and scope it could it make the same shot you did?

  • Oh YEAH! I can hit a can from 15 feet away with a slingshot!

  • saw the bullet on 2:52-2:53 !! LOL:)

  • can you please tell me where you are shooting at?

as in where does this take place cause I want to shoot my nagant there at long range

  • dude i shot one of those today man theyre badass

  • There's something I don't quite understand, would someone be able to point me in the right direction with this because I'm thinking of reloading in the future. Why use a 0.308 inch projectile as opposed to a standard 0.311 inch projectile? I know the difference is only 0.003 inches, not even a tenth of a millimetre, but wouldn't that make a difference to velocity and accuracy as the projectile has less contact with the rifling and does not seal the expanding gas as effectively?

  • But a head aint that big.

  • i have the M91/30 from 1942. but it dosent have the sniper style bolt and scope.

  • What amazes me is the consistency you're getting with that rifle, even the misses aren't that far off the mark; which I think is pretty damn good for a lightly modified 60+ year old rifle produced under war time conditions.

  • i need a rifle like tht one, looks like the call of duty version lol

  • i mean dope the scope in motherfucker not dildo in a scope

  • Absolutely outstanding

  • I forget the term for it but keep the rifle as still as possible during operation of the bolt. Keep your head and check on the rifle as if aiming in order to have as similar a sight picture as the last shot. This will improve accuracy :) Get my nagant in a couple of weeks can't wait to shot it :)

  • thats one hell of a bullet drop

  • I don't understand how the bullet drop is 3.something inches but at the bottom it said or 32 feet.?.?

  • @GMJ456

pull out your calculator and multiply 32' x 12"

    fuckin kids these days

  • @347cidStang hahahaha love that

  • @GMJ456 Are you fuckin' serious?

  • @ignatei

Because this isnt call of duty,

  • @TheSuperYoda Indeed. These rifles are shockingly loud, though less painful without hearing protection than a more modern 7.62x51. Less of a crack, more of a "boom"

  • @ignatei He enjoys hearing? Ask a gunner in a MRAP that question.

  • @ignatei

so he dosnt go deaf? My hearings bad...I fired my mosin a few times without ear plugs once and it wasnt loud...that means my hearing is shot...so protect your ears kiddies

  • And what type of scope?

  • @Fowl2338 i think it might be an original 3.4 power nagant style scope.

  • Could you post a video on how you performed the modifications?

  • @Fowl2338

Specifically, how did you free float the barrel?

  • SNAAAAKE!

  • That sound brings back memories. My Grandfather hunted with an Izhevsk 91-30.

  • u should do a video on how to shoot long range with a pu scope and dille the scope in

  • @shawnmohr1989 A DILDO IN THE SCOPE IN?! WTF U SICK MOTHERFUCKER

  • so do you have to aim 8 mils up?

  • @TheKittyMcfartface no mils in a PU

  • at first i thought it was a pciture of granite but then it took me a few seconds to figure out it wasnt lol fail.

  • Dam thats a tiny scope to be shooting at 1000 yards, its kool that you're hitting the target though.

  • @CamoNammo No kidding the target looked small in the 80x targeting scope. The stock PU scope is only 3.5x

  • @needparalegal This guy has some serious skills, I definately would want him on my side lol.

  • thanks man! i'll post videos when i get it!!

  • I love your videos! Thanks for posting that reloading data! Do you use large rifle primers? (like CCI large rifle primers?)

  • 200 grain like a boss, haha

  • where did u get the bolt and the scope mount for it i have been looking for those everywhere

  • @ chalajandro, I bought mine for $85.00 it came with all the accessories. The gun is in 8 out of ten condition ( 10 being perfect ) I can buy new factory ammo for $12.00 per 20 all day long. I hope this helps answer your question.

  • someone please tell me, the mosin nagant w/bayonet, cleaning/tool kit, and 440 rounds of amo for around $200 + tax a good deal?? thankss

  • @chalajandro Absolutely it's a good deal. Plus more guns in the hands of good people means more power for good people if and when things get chaotic. Arm up brother!

  • @chalajandro

    sounds good to me

  • Middle finger FTW!

  • That bullet was pretty slow...

  • @MrRabidCat You must not know what the hell your talking about :P stick to the video games

  • @MrPapapineapple I mean, well, I dunno. It was far away. Still a good shot

  • WOW that accurate from that far o.o

  • Dude has to use google maps to show the range? Jesus.

  • DAAAAANG man! Not bad! Good luck in your pursuit of perfection.

  • what kind of scope is that? Also how did you choose to mount it?

  • @AltonJB1984 Its a PU Scope. It side mounts

  • no no-scope? lol

  • Maybe it's because he's usin his freaking middle finger to pull the trigger. Good shooting tho.

  • 1:48

  • is that a original mosin nagant sniper or a false?

  • @SonyPlaystationOne no man its real there is no copy they just produced so many there cheap about 100 dollars at big 5 or other stores!

  • @SonyPlaystationOne >.> yes 1942

  • what kind of scope is that and how much?

  • what state are you guys in?

  • any idea of bullet drop with 180grain wolf ammo?

  • sticky action much? Haha mosin nagants- gotta love em.

  • OH....MY...LORD...

  • are you sure you are not using .311 or.312 bullets of 200grains? because you cant use .308 caliber bullets in a 7.62 rimmed cartridge. 7.62 russian is a totally different animal than 7.62 nato. there is 3-4 thousandths of an inch difference between those two 7.62 projectiles.

  • 1:48 you can hear the hit. Nice shooting.

  • what scope is?

  • awsome shooting, added on to the fact that it looks like he's using the old style 4x scope, not a modern 20x like I'd probably need. cool vid

  • how many crosswinds if any?

  • You aren't taking the recoil like a man haha

  • @newnumanuma but he hits the target like a man

  • @theBURRITOmaniac I wasn't dissing him, it was actually meant to be taken as sarcasm haha

  • @newnumanuma oh ok lol

  • @mag30th Hey there! I have a question about your ballistics. Would you be able to tell me what type of loads you use? I am thinking of going with the the "PE" mount from accumount's site. What scope would you recommend? Do you know if modern scope bodies will fit the old PE rings?

  • you've got to be fucking kidding me. that's rediculously far. and yeah yeah there are guns that reach out 2500 yards but seriously that is a long ass ways away. lets see you have to use google maps to show your rang size haha

  • Does anyone know what is the best things to clean a mosin nagant with? I heard that surplus ammo will corrode and destroy the rifle over time if not cleaned. I haven't clean my rifle for almost 4 weeks. Is it in a bad condition if I don't clean it ASAP?

  • @killacomeback if you dont wash it out directly after firing with as they say "corrosive" ammo you barrel and internal parts will rust up fast. All you need is your water hose and water jet the salts out of the guns ( dont go buy windex or boil your gun in water. all you need is a hose and towels )

  • Thanks dude. I did not wash my rifle at all. I used Hoppes 9 cleaning and took out almost all the green stuff. A lot of black stuff was on my little cleaning patch. Is that good? and also alot of silverly metal power stuff is coming out. I think I might have cleaned it too much. Either way I didn't use water yet.

  • @killacomeback The oils will not remove the salts so you may want to check up on the rifle in a day to see if any rust is forming if so then wash her good. The green stuff is probably the cosmoline from long term storage, as long as you cleaned it out of the barrel you will not have a problem with it. (although you should clean it all out because it just keeps gunk in your gun) and I would say head down to walmart and pick up a "bore-snake" for .308 and use that instead of wipes, hope it helps

  • What about the black stuff? Also some metal parts of the barrel were being scraped off when I clean it with a patch? Does that mean my bore is dying?

  • @killacomeback upload a few photos to photobucket or some where and mail me the picture links. I will try my best to help you out. Without actually seeing these I honestly cant say.

  • this is why i buy American everything .... except my guns lol hooah great shooting man

  • Wow. 3 out of 5 at that range, with that weapon, is damn fine

  • You sir, are amazing. I need at least a .300 Win Mag to reach 1,000 yards (to hit a cantaloupe).

  • the only problem i see here is the absence of a rag over the scope. them steel targets might catch the glint off ya scope!

  • the mosin nagant may not be the prettiest gun to look at but it most certainly one of the best sounding

  • at this distance it is more like artillery fire. Very nice shooting.

  • I love how you can see the vapor trail. Thats awesome. Plan on doing this with my Mosin.

  • The funny thing is you can hear the bullet hitting the target or the ground.

  • that is pretty impressive

  • the sound of that weapon is amazing

  • nice shooting Hathcock ;)

  • Can someone explain to me, doesnt glass bedding the reciver also freefloat the barrel?

  • @tomaspruzina exactly

  • I'm new to rifle shooting, but is this a great starter or is there a better rifle?

  • @momasboy10 their old but they are built parooskie tough, and cheap too, I got one for $200 with all the bells and whistles, bayonet, oil can and multi tool.

  • Does the handle on the bolt come off so you can replace it with the appropriate handle for sniping?

  • @bigred2989 no...the bolt handle is a part of the bolt body...but you can buy a new body with curved bolt.

  • learn how to shoot properly.......distance between the scope

  • i would love to hunt deer with that badass rifle :D do all mosin nagants have that difficult bolt mechanism? coz he was having problems loading i saw

  • @FamGuy15 no they normally don't it's the casmoline that makes it look like a shitty mechanism but if you clean ALL the casmoline and polish the bolt a little it is VERY smooth the only problem you will EVER have with the mosin as if you load it in a certain way the round just does not want to feed but its an easy fix

  • Out freaking standing!!!

  • Gotta love dirt cheap guns like this. I'm going to get one and get it in this setup. But i love how hard it is to find this setup under $100. And i also cant find this at a normal FFL dealer i have to go online to find this and the one i found was $459.99. I can get the gun for about $99.99 then the bolt for about $25 and the scope and mount are over $300. Not what i was expecting

  • I just shot a Mossin nagant today. I didn't have the butt of the rifle quite right in my shoulder right, and kicked it like a 12 gauge.

  • @mag30th why did you remove the upper hand-guard? What does that do?

  • how much is the bullet drop at this distance ?

what kind of scope is it ?

  • @AK47infidel The bullet drop 391 inches or 32 feet.

  • AND HE USES A PU SCOPE GLORY OF GLORIES

  • F
