  • my brother (hes spent veryyy little time in the woods) kept hearing this and thought someone was trying to start a broken down ATV lol

  • @ToroToker LOL!!! First time I heard it, I thought it was a logger, trying to get an old engine started! It was so annoying. And to me, pheasant sound like someone moving a rusty car door hinge, back and forth!

  • State bird of Pennsylvania, beautyful!

  • Beautiful...taste beautiful too but I hate killing them as they are fairly small and if I don't get so many it's a waste of a beautiful bird :(

  • @juzu4me only the ones with nice cocks of course

  • i got 6 with my pellet gun. there really stupid birds. they taste great though my bro killed one with a stick lol

  • theyre beautiful birds my favorite small game to hunt

  • yup thats some chicken rite there.

  • GET IN MY BELLY ..IM GONNA EATTT UUUUU ..LOL

  • Finally a solution to the problem! Every morning around 1-2 am I hear this repetitive sound outside. The flawless pattern made me believe it was anything but the wildlife. Thanks for the video! Very interesting indeed :)

  • Nice job!

  • that's his drumming log, you can even wait for him and he'll be back in a few hours to start again.

  • soo awesome

  • tasty little fucker.

  • notice the head just sits still when these birds are drumming

  • Wow! Thats a rare shot. I can never get close enough to them for that, they always see/hear me coming.

  • great video! I have heard this noise while hiking many times and had been baffled about what i could be! Now I know. I plan to grouse hunt for the first time in a few days.

  • Throughout Canada, below the tree line,we have Ruffed Grouse. They are a game bird like pheasants and turkeys. When the male grouse does this drumming it is to attract a mate;unfortunately,it can also attract predators.

In New Brunswick, ruffed grouse are known as partridge. They can be hunted with or without the use of hunting dogs....they are always a tasty treat.

  • they also attract other males who are looking for a easy mate, since they'll take the female before she gets to the drummer, I've even seen a pair fighting, I guess one came too close to his drumming log?

  • That is correct, flamedrag18......

    Excellent Observation !!!!!.......

They can become easy pickings to the .22 when the cocks are distracted and in a duel....I observed that this fall.

  • that was so funny in slow motion. i have never seen those before, maybe they are not in australia.

the getting faster sound it makes reminds me when a coin or lid of a jar goes on its side getting faster and faster till it stops.

  • I also compare it to the sound of a bouncing basketball coming to a stop lol

  • no, they're a North American bird, basically like a small wild chicken with bush colors.

  • hen's wild cousin?

  • LOL! Laughed my as of when i saw it in slowmo XO

  • i hear em beat every now and then ive had them damn things pop up 2 feet away out squirrel huntin and scare the shit outta me lol

  • i would blow its f ing head off and fry that sob up

  • where is this

  • according to the description of the video it is in northern ontario
