Perkyvaal: what I think that will remain for many years is the current trade and financial "partnership" they have. Chinesse growth depends almost 50% in American purchases. An if US economy is going to "feel the hit" due to a possible recession, then they will need someone willing to invest there. Once one of them doesn´t need the other anymore (because it found a new "partner"), then yes, they´ll probably have an issue some day. The question is who will say "bye and thanks" to the other!

China and the U.S. have no interest of war between eachother. If China attacked the U.S. or the U.S. attacked China, WWIII would start, China's economy would collaspe, and the U.S. would have to deal with gas prices probably around $8 a gallon. Anyways War between the two would be useless and a disaster for everyone.

there simply is not enough interceptors to hit all incomming ICBM's
although it would be ineffective it would obviously stop a number of nukes from hitting their targets. if china was to launch, say 1000 missiles at us. do you really think we have the capability to shoot down even half of them? definitly not

They either won't bother to get that many missiles, or they will do so at the price of their own power structure. The Soviets learned that lesson. In any event, it doesn't matter, since Missile Defense was never for China, but rather for countries one can't negotiate with (like Iran).
