After Endometrial ablation do you continue to have periods every month?

I really want to get this done, I have known in my heart that I will never want children. My periods are extremely heavy, I am in so much pain, I can't really do normal activities. They say you should do light activities when on your period, I tried that and was in so much pain, I fell to the ground.
