Yeah, about this. Damn, like everyone else said, tuck in that right arm woman! That's NOT a good shooting potition. She's too rigid, relax the arms and the legs. That position will not allow proper movement in a firefight. If you are learning to use tactical ( key word: "TACTICAL" ) weapons, it's either for the military, law enforcement, or self protection. In any of those that shooting position will get you in a ton of trouble.
Putting your elbow up is actually the best way to fire this weapon. I'm a professional, and you'll see that I shoot the same way in my bump firing video.
@Rami2k9 The AR-15 is semi-auto only. While the M16 - A1 has rapid fire, M16 - A2, A3, and A4 fire burst, all have semi-auto as well. The AR and M-16 are near identical.

How much did that hurt? I want so badly to fire an AR-15 and I'm surely smaller than you. I remember when I first shot a shotgun, I was bruised from the recoil. I get that shotguns and AR's have different recoils power but still.
AR-15 is a dream rifle for smaller people. That stock you see, the recoil spring runs the whole length of that stock, not much more recoil than a typical .22 rifle. My wife and her girlfriends have no problem firing her AR-15. I can fire it one-handed (can't hit a darn thing, but that's not the point!)

"assault rifle" is a term that should be reserved for rifles that have select fire. AR-15s do not have select fire. if you call it an assault rifle (which you did in the tags) whether to sound tough or cool or whatever, you only reinforce the media hype that leads to the banning of my favorite rifle.

i don't make up my own facts and i'm definitely not your buddy. go look up the definition of "assault rifle" in any of your choice of credible dictionaries. select fire is a major part of it. and making an issue of how many rounds a magazine can hold is just bureaucratic propaganda designed to weaken the 2nd amendment.

I'm myself am a strong proponent of the second amendment. So for it to be an assault rifle by your terms it has to have the selection of burst or auto? As someone who is knowledgeable about guns I know what an assault rifle is. You just want to find a convenient lie for yourself so that you think you have a valid argument. Your approach is obviously very skewed and ridiculous. Sounds like you have the mental gymnastics abilities of a bitter bureaucrat.

ya know clickenberry3...you don't know what you're talking about. select fire (as a term) is not a choice between burst and auto. it is having the choice between semi or auto (or semi and burst). take a moment and look it up. i assume that you have a computer. and yes, i do believe there is a significant difference between an AR-15 and M4/M16. one is a rifle (semi auto ) and the others are machine guns (or assault rifles more specifically).

Thats exactly what I said and meant. Assault rifles are more deadly and accurate when in semi. Your using a retarded definition to try and assume what you want. Anyone with brain (not you) knows this. You just want to own an assault rifle to make yourself feel better about your insignificance in life whether it be your dick size or career. Not true. Here in Connecticut almost any semi-auto rifle with a bayonet lug, flash hider, and high cap mag is legally a "semiautomatic assault rifle" and they are banned. The only ones who can legally own a semi-auto assault rifle I.E. AR-15s, AK-47s etc., are those who had them and registered them when they were banned.
Yeah I know, the definition "semi-automatic assautl rifle" is retarded, but people are going to prison because they don't understand this retardation. Be warned.

well said sir. even if it was only full auto it would not be an assault rifle. It would be a LMG (light machine gun (I know weird huh lol). if it shoot pistol rounds SMG. There are three main characteristics that make up a assault rifle. #1 High Magazine capacity 30+ rounds usually. #2 a pistol grip. #3 select fire Semi/full or Semi/2 or 3 round burst. The AR-15 has 2 of the 3 characteristics. it's almost a assualt rifle, but almost doesn't count when dealing with guns however. :-)

AR-15 is an assault rifle. AR-15 is the original designation of this rifle platform and the M16 and M4 are name designations. Definition of an assault rifle is 1. Removeable magazine, check. 2. Intermediate sized cartridge, 5.56mm check! 3. Designed for combat, check! Yep, by the standard definitions an AR-15 is an assault rifle.

An assault rifle is an automatic rifle firing an intermediate cartridge. STG 44, AR-15, Kalashnikov, etc are assault rifles. G3, FAL, M14, etc are battle rifles.

Just to be clear, the "AR" originally stood for "Armalite", the company that invented/developed the gun in the beginning as the .308 version, the AR-10. The military awarded the contract to the M-14 in 1957 instead of the AR-10, but requested that Armalite go on to develop the smaller round version. That gun became the AR-15/M16 and got introduced into the Viet-Nam conflict. but "AR" stands for Armalite. Colt got the production contract so many people think they invented it.
