Fucking americans. Do you think France fell without any bloodshed? Do you think France just surrendered when the Germans invaded? NO They fought and lost, it was a defeat. Defeat doesnt not mean surrender. The French only surrendered after they had been completely beaten. Is it cowardice to give up when you no longer have any armies? When all your men are dead or captured?
Now, I really wonder how you would have fared, or how YOU will react when foreigners military invade your country.
What a pile of crap. The French were hand in gloves with the Nazis as early as June 1940. The Vichy government of France actually fought alongside Nazis, sent volunteers to work in the munition factories in Germany, and fought the US and the British all the way. The only people who fought for the "liberation" of Paris were the communists who were hunted down by the Vichy France and the Nazis. Come on you Frenchies. Who are you trying to fool? The white wash is too thin. Ask Marshal Petin....
@mads2a completely agree, I saw an interview with a former nazi or recreation, and they asked: do you remember any symbol of some sort, like a star of David. And the former nazi said no, like it's disgusting, and some people even believe there was no holocaust, like that's just a horror to think people believe there wasn't one.
The nazis had the balls to admit their crimes? That is a big load of you know what. Many of those monsters who survived the war preferred to hide, some in south america and others in Europe. Even when caught, they hid behind phrases like "we were following orders" or "we did not know". They should have all been gassed by their own inventions. Nazi pigs!
The American's have untold war crimes, even been commited at this very moment . at least the Nazi's and germans had the balls to stand up and admit the crimes. Unlike america hiding behind legal bullshit, but lets face it the Nazi's built America and its military into what it is today they learnt to hide their crimes . the 1000's of rapes in japan on civilians in peacetime ,iraq where ever america is, war crimes are commited and no one is punished. american forces trafficing people in bosina
I'm inviting a storm of obscene nationalism for this comment but let's consider. The U.S. entered the war after most of the major belligerents, took some 330,000 casualties in a war that cost maybe 50 million lives and emerged victorius as the most powerful, prosperus nation in the world. This is a bad thing? Otto Von Bismarck would have been breathless at a coup of such international proportion. No, I'm not an American, now go ahead and swear at me.
@deriter64 Your right on your points. But my country the U.S. didn't spill as much blood as everyone else. No this is not a bad thing, but the others made tremendous sacrifices before your soldiers and mine set foot in Africa and France. Just visited Canada in British Columbia btw. Victoria is a beautiful city. =)

in ww2 french Canadians did not want to fight in Europe many dislike European french people reason they say that they are traitors / cowards for leaving them to British in the Americas.king Hitler would rule England if not for Canada and Australia.
@Chansulus Wrong. Hitler would never rule england becuase sending an evasion force across the channel without luftwaffe superioirity would result in an absoltue massacre of the wermacht.
@gopconservative78 What more could the French have in 1940? The Germans swept all before them. In fact the French fought quite courageously during the Battle of France. During the Siege of Lille, the French 1st Army was surrounded by the Germans. They fought for 4 days tying down 7 German divisions and preventing them from joining the assault on Dunkirk. And since when do America do "all the fighting. Wait, I forgot, America were the only ones who stood up and fought in WW2 right????
@brownsey1 Hey, only an idiot would question the valor of the French soldier in any age. The turnaround in the early stages of the First World War is unbelievable and in Napoleon's day coalitions of empires were humbled by French troops. But in the Second World War France could have attacked Germany while Germany was involved with Poland, a political decision that has nothing to do with courage. New York and Toronto are a long way from Paris so some troops probably wondered why they were there.
@deriter64 True, the French had the biggest, and strongest army in the begining of WWII. The French tanks were superior to the what the Germans had, and their troops where extremely well trained. The Problem was with the senior officers, who maintained that the tank was an infantry support weapon, and continued to spread their tanks amoung their formations. Du Galle himself was demopted and sent to North Africa because he disobeyed those orders and defeated a German armoured thrust by copying
@canadaloveswhiskey Very good points, especially about the dispersal of French armor. For years we were taught to believe that the fall of France was due to the onslaught of invicible German tanks when in fact it was not a triiumph of technology but of tactics. The Germans even had some Panzer 1's in the field during the assault on France and they didn't have anything that could stop a poor old plodding Matilda (except the 88). Love your user name by the way, sort of a Canadian club.

@gopconservative78 , fuck you son of bitch, my grandfather fought and died in 1940. You american, you didn't fought in your territory and you didn't fought all only. Son of bitch !!!
audifaxcimeski My freand you didnt understand me well.i dont trumpet about the merits of the Wehrmacht, i am talking taht gernany in thet time had the best army in the world no body could match them in that time. Where's Germany in the Security Council My freand Germany in last 60 years is the most powerfull country in europe in every aspect ..am i correct its not Britain sure..???????
what if France did the rearmament when Hitler was rearmouring themselves, n did not act so cowardly as it did in a series of events, they could definately save the whole of Europe.
Sadly, courage belonged to only a few and only after France was occupied.
No, we could not have. Our will to fight was non-existent after the horrendous death toll of French soldiers in WWI. Hitler threw the manpower and industrial resources of over 80,000,000 Germans against 40,000,000 Frenchmen. The French did not have, and could not have had, the military and industrial power to beat Germany.
We did put up a fight. In the Battle of France, from May 10 to June 22, 1940, we lost, in military alone, 260,000 wounded and 108,000 killed.
France had all the capabilities to defeat Germany. Its not the manpower of industrial production that brought germans the victory, it was the strategy and tactics. The manpower was almost similar, the French having slightly more troops. French also had more guns and more tanks. Germans had about 1/3 more aircraft but the forces were pretty much similar. The quality of technology was almost similar as well, but revolutionary tactics overwhelmed the French.
@haochuan3333 Just like the UK... but remember everyone wanted peace after 14-18. It's understandable. Some knew what Hitler would do and, even if they were otherwise pacifists, they wanted a fight. The majority just thought the worst was behind them. Once France was occupied, most of the Resistans used to be pacifists, but, and I quote André Kisrchen, a then 15-year-old Resistant "it was war, and you can't do war "in half" " (dont know how to say it in a better way)
Most German soldiers were good people but the people who persecuted the jews and the SS were horrible people brainwashed by Hitler or just fucked in his head themselves the German people were told lies by the SS to make it look like Hitler was doing the right thing
I've read every post on this site and I have to conclude there are many jeolous mo' fo's who like to cast blame for events that occured some 70 years ago.
Der fuherer was being cocky and desperate that is bad when your a military commander he screwed up when he made a two front war he should have learned from the mistakes in WW1 and myabe they would have had a chance
2 fronts it was more like 4, Russia, France, North Africa, and Sicily pretty much at one time or another all 4 campaigns were going on at the same time. Hitler failed to capture Britain and destroy the Royal Airforce which was a thorn in his side with air raids all war. France was onlt thinly defended, in Russia the romanians ,hungarians, and Bulgarians couldnt defend the flanks in the worst winter in history, in Sicily, Mussolinis troops were poorly trained shitbags with a crushed navy, chaos.
Can it get any worse for the Germans with the scenario I just illustrated. pretty much the most incredible thing that I can think of is that even with all this chaos, Germany could have won, except Hitller like an idiot made himeself Commander and scerwed up way too much. A better plan and coordination could have led to the takeover of Stalingrad, after the defeat of the allies, but Hitler tried to bite off more than he can chew, and those inhumane animals he descibed as Russians wupped ass.
@SSSDiaz7 the Brits were the only ones who stood through it with them being a powerful country the rest of Europe couldnt defend themselves Russia got lucky the Germans were about to crush Moscow but winter rolled around and the Germans didnt have enough supplies
@suddenurge look who is saying ,you american shit .Every body knows thet you americans are the most idiot nation in the hole world .Take some Geography books and see were is America...
@amirturist25 stupid Americans dude u cant even fucking spell lol and the way u spell with your geography tips seems like ur country taught u well huh?
You could never compare The allies soldiers with the Germans. The Germans occupieded all of Europe For 2 months,They had everything skilled,,Brave ,experienc,s,militancy ect.
In the WW2 Germany had 400 000 Dead
The allies Had 600 000O - counting only British and Americans Dead In only less then one year .FUNNY
In Russia Germany had 5 000 000 milion dead
Numbers here say Everything Without The russsians America and England would easy lose the war they had much luck.
@suddenurge look who is saying ,you american shit .Every body knows thet you americans are the most idiot nation in the hole books and see were is America...
@amirturist25 Still, this didn't even last 6 years at the most. And the Allies won over your "skilled, experienced, and brave militaries". "Fanatical" would be more appropriate. The world only remembers the victors. Where's Germany in the Security Council? I have great respect for the German people, but guys like you my friend should rather not trumpet about the merits of the Wehrmacht, especially with such a bad conscience... And you can't treat Americans as idiots. That's unfair.
i know for a fact that germany should have sent ss troops north to fight the more numerous being that they are more experienced geez such dump commanders its common sense :P
the most german soldiers in normandy were little boys and volunteers from 40 different nations, they were bad armed and hadn´t less combat expericence
Actually its only accused Stalin killed a lot of people besides from records documents, there isn't enough physical evidence to claim the majority of killings.
Ok there would have been no godamn way the british could have taken down german forces in france alone. Admit it if it wasn't for the US and Free French forces Britain would have been starved into submission
Everyone was connected in some way. Without the US, Great Brittain and the Sovjetunion wouldn't have hold out. And without Brittain the US could not form a less serious threat to Germany in a later fase of the war.
You can't watch anything about WW2 without seeing a text argument with some pompous ignorant American embarrassing himself. Unlike the US, Britain was in the war from the beginning and with her, her Dominions. Were it not for the Commonwealth, the Americans wouldn't even had had a chance to show up late and take all the credit for a war more than half over.
The US is to the UK what Byzantine was to Rome. Deal with it because that's how history will see it.
The war was about preserving the Free World, not about who was better at winning it . To argue about taking credit for a bloodbath is absurd. For the real men fighting the war, it was about ending it. You might take credit for winning a video game, but in real life, there is no credit to take from war, only a burden of debt upon the soul.
haha..more than half over? You're arithmetic is off. And let's face it, the Soviet Union paid the highest price in blood and exacted the greatest toll as well. Now that the Cold War is over I can safely say the Soviet Union defeated Nazi Germany. In the big picture, the western front opened up by the invasion of Normandy was almost an afterthought.
The Nazi's would have undoubtedly taken Moscow and the USSR may have totally collapsed without American material supplies. Even Soviet historians writing in the 60s said as much.
Without the US, Europe would have been entirely fascist or entirely Stalinist for decades. FACT
I'm not saying the American involvement was negligible. I'm just saying that some trucks and equipment provided by Lend-Lease or whatever program the US had with the Soviets wasn't decisive. The Russian Winter was. Even if the U.S. had provides a million trucks and vehicles, they would have been every bit as bogged down as the German vehicles. And placing FACT at the end of your sentences doesn't lend any more credence to what you said if your just stating opinions.
The Russian Winter won WW2. Without it, the Nazis take moscow before the end of '41. The weather's disruption of Nazi supply lines halted German progress, allowing the Russians time to regroup and re-equip. The Germans hadn't planned on having to face the Russian winter, so weren't properly equipped.
On top of it all, the Russian winter of '41 was the coldest in recorded history to that point.
yes. I've actually made a similar comment on another video. Not only the Russian Winter, but Russia's poor infrastructure. Had Russia developed an extensive rail and road system like Western Europe, the German mechanized divisions wouldn't have been bogged down in the mud in spite of the Autumn rains. So in the end, Russia's backwardness also came to its aid.
CAndrews, very true. And i am not anti-American - just anti-ignorants. Sometimes Americans remind me of Soviet Russians, for the naive clichés they live on.
I was anti-French until I studied history. If it had not been for the French pirates and privateers, we would have not beat the British in New Orleans. The war of 1812 would have been lost. I also like the pro-smoking, drinking and public love making. VIVA LA FRANCE!!!!!!
Thanks, acfinney. We'll try to be up your expectations. To begin with, I'll buy a Cuban cigar (which are not embargoed in France), drink some Burgundy brandy and kiss my wife on the Champs-Elysées, drinking to the health of the French 2nd Armoured & 4th US Infantry divisions veterans.
The British fought for their own defence, were it not for it and the participation of the United States, the United Kingdom would have been rendered incapable of fighting for 'worldwide freedom'. The country that could be considered to have fought for worldwide freedomis the US, possibly the Soviets as well depending on how you view communism.
The US sat back until they were attacked, sitting back is the definition of cowardice not fighting for freedom. The Soviets sold 80% of the raw materials the Nazi war machine used, they were simply duped and betrayed. The UK bought equipment from the US and saved their economy. If we had been poor you would have sold stuff to the nazi just like the soviets. The UK were offered deal after deal from Hitler, we had no need to fight the guy. It was a war of principle.
You did not save our economy, we muscled out of the depression through the great means of production that my country had and still has. There was no deal, Hitler wanted Europe, remember the Nazi-Soviet Pact, that was a 'deal' as well. It is not cowardice to sit back either, it is the lack for the want of war, I see nothing wrong with it.
The British war effort bailed out the US economy as they sat back cowardly. The UK did not want a war, we fought for the sake of mankind and that is noble. Cowardice is never noble I am afraid.
You have no facts correct, Hitler was preparing to launch a large invasion on the mainland United Kingdom and his air force had almost crushed London and other cities, the United Kingdom didn't choose, it was forced.
Hitler planned many things, he wanted the UK to sign a truce, he had no ill will to the British. It is clearly hard for people to swallow the fact that principles matter to the British, they fought for freedom not for themselves.
There was no such plan constructed, Churchill himself came to our White House and asked us for military assistance. You fought for your own freedom not for that of others, no country was 'noble' as you would have it and you should contain proper facts first.
Hitler offered the UK a truce several times I am afraid. The UK waged war on the Nazi first the only country to do so. You need to get your facts straight. It may be hard to accept a noble stand, it embarrasses other countries, but we won't apologize for it.
Give me evidence for this, because according to every international source, Churchill came to our white house ( History Channel has film of this), and asked us for our help. London was severely bombed and the RAF was being filled up with volunteer American and Canadian pilots. The British were defeated, not offered a truce at any point, and managed to gain back strategic advantage through help of other allied nations.
Hitler..." I will stop the war now if the UK accepts Germany as an equal partner." The UK bought equipment from North America with our wealth, if we had been poor you guys would have sold equipment to the Nazi. There were 7 US pilots in the BOB.
Hitler said the same thing to the Russians and Finish, did this happen? NO, it did not, Germany wanted control of the entire WORLD for 1000 years, the United Kingdom is a part of this world. The United Kingdom was also in depression, and you did not pay for supplies with your 'wealth', it was more like credit which you payed after the war. Your air force was toast, ground and tank forces taking heavy losses, and your cities were on the verge of destruction. You fought because you had to.
They had a peace deal with Russia, the Finish were too small to count. The UK air force won the war, you clearly know nothing. Most homes are bought on credit, poor countries or poor people are less likely to be given credit. If the UK was poor and their army as bad as you say the British would have lost and we would all be under Nazi rule.
The British lost there part of the war, and they were a very inessential part of the conflict compared the to the US or USSR. The US and USSR are the two countries that ended WW2, which is why after Britain was no longer a superpower or even a great power.
The UK won their part of the war and forced the Nazi and and Japan into suicide attacks on larger opponents who did not threaten them. The UK is a world power. How exactly is Russia a world power? London vs Moscow, London wins on every important factor I am afraid. The US remains a creation of the UK, founded by British citizens. They rely on the UK whenever they mess things up, like the credit crunch etc.
Russia is no longer a superpower, for now the only internationally recognized superpower is the United States, because it has the worlds largest economy and best military. The United Kingdom was a superpower, but in WWI this power was damaged and in two it was destroyed. Britain's importance in the war was minimal. The US is not a UK creation either. It contains land from previously held lands of Russia, France, Spain, as well as the UK. And the current US doesnt rely on the UK, sorry.
The US does have a the biggest population in the developed world, this is tis power. Russia has lost more or less all its influence. The UK's role in WWII was pivotal, they basically won it with help, without the UK there would have been no war. The US was created by British rebels and follows more or less British ideals of democracy, freedom and free markets. At the credit crunch we saw that for the small population the UK has the world still looks to it to solve their problems.
No, our practices are much closer to that of France and what was Prussia. The UK's role in the war was not pivotal because, although they did much, they did not do anything to change the course of the war like the Soviets or Americans. The USA was not created by British rebels, it was created in British colonies by a mixture of Native Americans, French, British, Spainish, Germans, and British.
The UK changed the course of the war and thats why we won. I admire your stand against the truth, but it has failed. Most of the founding fathers were British citizens.
I dont know what history you learn, provide evidence of this, how did they change the course of the war. Deal with it, your country fell in that war, Im sorry, but your stance against the truth is ridiculous and childish. Britain in 1776 was a superpower. Britain in ww2 was a much less significant power. The founding fathers were British, however you stated us as being "British rebels" which is incorrect.
He now accepts the founding fathers were British, you arguments are falling fast. The UK defended itself in WWII read about the BOB. After our victory there to war turned, Hitler attacked the Soviets his greatest allie and the Japanese attacked the USA, we won we called their bluff.
Britians role in WW2 was huge! Montgomery and the British/Canadians can be credited more than the Americans with the victory in Normandy (the British facing 15 hardened SS and Panzer divisions and the Americans facing 7 understrength divisons) as well as the victory in North Africa and inflicted the biggest japanese defeat of the war at Imphal! And the UK still has the best trained military in the world U.S marines training 13 weeks 25% don't make it! Royal Marines 32 weeks 70% don't make it!
And yes Britian did win decisive battles the Battle of Britain, El Alamain, Imphal and British forces bore the brunt of the fighting in Sicily and Normandy! people simply reflect their society. America is a place of self praise at the expense of others whilst Britian will Berate itself and give merit to opponents and rivals. But if the British were as bad as they said they were and Americans as good as they themselves said they were allied campaigns of WW2 wouldn't have ended the way they did!
The Sovjetunion wrecked Hitler's army's! Compare the numbers of troops fighting in the west and in the east. Compared the Allied fights where tiny and had little casualties. Ironically it was Russian blood that made West Europe free.
The Soviets also took some of the heaviest casualties of the war. Stalin begged the US and Britain to open up a second front. Stalin needed the US and Brits as much as they needed him.
Patton was the best the US had, but he was also a war hungry bastard.
Defeat the USSR with nazi-Germany? That's exactly many nazis hoped would happen! The fact that Stalin was a bigger murderer dan Hitler doesn't mean we have to team up with them.
Stalin had 20 years to kill more people, mostly through incompetence and neglect. Hitler was just getting started, he would have killed-off, exiled, or enslaved more than half of Europe if he had his way. That makes him far worse than Stalin.
Why so so many American's have this love for the Nazis?
I don't love Nazis. In fact, my Grandfather fought in France, only to come back a total wreck. As far as I know, Himmler and the SS were destroyed sixty-four years ago. I do hate communist with a passion.
I respect the common German soldier becacuse he was simply fighting for his homeland. However in no way do I respect the officers and higher officials (Including Hitler himself) because of their sadistic determination.
I know a Veteran who fought for Germany during world war 2, he hated Hitler as well as the whole "Master race" ideology. He joined because if he didn't, he would be imprisoned and his family deprived of any welfare benefits.
While that's true, you miss my point. I am talking about the people these days who show positive admiration for the German army are usually some sort of Nazi or fellow traveler. Besides, even the Wehrmacht wasn't free of war crimes though they were not anywhere as bad as the SS. Millions of Russian POWs died in captivity
Oh, well yeah but Modern day Neo-Nazis suck balls anyway. Just a bunch of Pseudo-wannabes with a Hitler poster in their room so it makes them look tough.
Both sides had their war crimes.
Okay well, about 80% of the common German Military fought for the same reasons soldiers fight today. Their leader lied to them and fed them a bunch of bullshit about preserving freedom and a whole patriotic speil. Those who were still having second thoughts were either conscripted or killed for treason
@shadowmare97 Well said and what little people know that most working class Germans at the time HATED Hitler with a passion. There were a total of 43 assassination attempts Hitler, 2 of which came REALLY close and I'm of the same idea; I have alot of respect for the common German Soldier trying to fight and shedding blood for his homeland. The politicians, High rank officers and upper class can eat shit for all I care.
@shadowmare97 -hi,i disrespect the german doldier, whether he was a general or a plain soldier, they bhad nothing to do in poland, russia or greece, they had nothing to do with france, all those countries and others were sovereign countries, the germans were cruel butchers, thank god for the russians, thank g-d for the usa, otherwise.no justification to gas babies, old people women and children as the enemies of the third reich, all germans were nazis, all germans voted for nazis.
The US and Soviets were attacked so they fought for themselves. The UK was never attacked, Hitler worshipped the British. The UK fought the worlds war for them, gave the world freedom, this is noble and no amount of planned anti Englishness will change it I am afraid.
Nazis soldiers fought until death in France with strong resistance, you can't deny it, they fought for their side, and we could discuss about their fanatism, hitlerian youths are something.
Even more unfortunately, not majority but a large part would've preferred to hand over their weapons, hasten the Western Allies way to main Germany and be part of the rebuilding. Hitler did a good job replacing every proper commander in German army with fanatics. The entire late phase of the war was extremely unfortunate in it's events.
@aaKonda exactly man, even the Waffen SS, who had nothing to do with the concentration camp guard SS, were professional soldiers who fought for their Fatherland
The 9th Company, was a mechanised force commanded by Raymond Dronne. It was part of the 2nd Armored Division (France). It was manned almost entirely by SPANISH VETERANS from the Republican side of the Spanish Civil War when it SPEARHEADED the 2nd Armored Division's LIBERATION OF PARIS in August 1944.

@gopconservative78 Lol, so Charles de Gaulle, de Lattre, D'Esprey, Alphonse Juin, Petain, Joan of Arc, and William the Conqueror never existed.
Oh yeah, didn't see any Americans fight at Verdun either.
Scrinoverlord 11 months ago
@gopconservative78 What more could the French have in 1940? The Germans swept all before them. In fact the French fought quite courageously during the Battle of France. During the Siege of Lille, the French 1st Army was surrounded by the Germans. They fought for 4 days tying down 7 German divisions and preventing them from joining the assault on Dunkirk. And since when do America do "all the fighting. Wait, I forgot, America were the only ones who stood up and fought in WW2 right????
brownsey1 11 months ago
@brownsey1 Hey, only an idiot would question the valor of the French soldier in any age. The turnaround in the early stages of the First World War is unbelievable and in Napoleon's day coalitions of empires were humbled by French troops. But in the Second World War France could have attacked Germany while Germany was involved with Poland, a political decision that has nothing to do with courage. New York and Toronto are a long way from Paris so some troops probably wondered why they were there.
deriter64 10 months ago
@deriter64 True, the French had the biggest, and strongest army in the begining of WWII. The French tanks were superior to the what the Germans had, and their troops where extremely well trained. The Problem was with the senior officers, who maintained that the tank was an infantry support weapon, and continued to spread their tanks amoung their formations. Du Galle himself was demopted and sent to North Africa because he disobeyed those orders and defeated a German armoured thrust by copying
canadaloveswhiskey 8 months ago
@canadaloveswhiskey Very good points, especially about the dispersal of French armor. For years we were taught to believe that the fall of France was due to the onslaught of invicible German tanks when in fact it was not a triiumph of technology but of tactics. The Germans even had some Panzer 1's in the field during the assault on France and they didn't have anything that could stop a poor old plodding Matilda (except the 88). Love your user name by the way, sort of a Canadian club.

France COULD HAVE saved Europe
what if France did the rearmament when Hitler was rearmouring themselves, n did not act so cowardly as it did in a series of events, they could definately save the whole of Europe.
Sadly, courage belonged to only a few and only after France was occupied.
haochuan3333 1 year ago
@haochuan3333
Scrinoverlord 1 year ago
@Scrinoverlord
The quality of technology was almost similar as well, but revolutionary tactics overwhelmed the French.
aaKonda 1 year ago
@haochuan3333 Just like the UK... but remember everyone wanted peace after 14-18. It's understandable. Some knew what Hitler would do and, even if they were otherwise pacifists, they wanted a fight. The majority just thought the worst was behind them. Once France was occupied, most of the Resistans used to be pacifists, but, and I quote André Kisrchen, a then 15-year-old Resistant "it was war, and you can't do war "in half" " (dont know how to say it in a better way)

SSSDiaz7 1 year ago
Can it get any worse for the Germans with the scenario I just illustrated. pretty much the most incredible thing that I can think of is that even with all this chaos, Germany could have won, except Hitller like an idiot made himeself Commander and scerwed up way too much. A better plan and coordination could have led to the takeover of Stalingrad, after the defeat of the allies, but Hitler tried to bite off more than he can chew, and those inhumane animals he descibed as Russians wupped ass.

ghostdivision7 2 years ago
You can't watch anything about WW2 without seeing a text argument with some pompous ignorant American embarrassing himself. Unlike the US, Britain was in the war from the beginning and with her, her Dominions. Were it not for the Commonwealth, the Americans wouldn't even had had a chance to show up late and take all the credit for a war more than half over.
The US is to the UK what Byzantine was to Rome. Deal with it because that's how history will see it.
CAndrews80 2 years ago 4
The war was about preserving the Free World, not about who was better at winning it . To argue about taking credit for a bloodbath is absurd. For the real men fighting the war, it was about ending it. You might take credit for winning a video game, but in real life, there is no credit to take from war, only a burden of debt upon the soul.
naltrexone23X 2 years ago 3
haha..more than half over? You're arithmetic is off. And let's face it, the Soviet Union paid the highest price in blood and exacted the greatest toll as well. Now that the Cold War is over I can safely say the Soviet Union defeated Nazi Germany. In the big picture, the western front opened up by the invasion of Normandy was almost an afterthought.
bob555555 2 years ago 2
The Nazi's would have undoubtedly taken Moscow and the USSR may have totally collapsed without American material supplies. Even Soviet historians writing in the 60s said as much.
Without the US, Europe would have been entirely fascist or entirely Stalinist for decades. FACT
Masthope 2 years ago
I'm not saying the American involvement was negligible. I'm just saying that some trucks and equipment provided by Lend-Lease or whatever program the US had with the Soviets wasn't decisive. The Russian Winter was. Even if the U.S. had provides a million trucks and vehicles, they would have been every bit as bogged down as the German vehicles. And placing FACT at the end of your sentences doesn't lend any more credence to what you said if your just stating opinions.
bob555555 2 years ago
i think they also supplied planes as well.
there were many p 40s sent to russia although outdated
TheProjektcc 2 years ago 3
The Russian Winter won WW2. Without it, the Nazis take moscow before the end of '41. The weather's disruption of Nazi supply lines halted German progress, allowing the Russians time to regroup and re-equip. The Germans hadn't planned on having to face the Russian winter, so weren't properly equipped.
On top of it all, the Russian winter of '41 was the coldest in recorded history to that point.
lickdeznuts 2 years ago
yes. I've actually made a similar comment on another video. Not only the Russian Winter, but Russia's poor infrastructure. Had Russia developed an extensive rail and road system like Western Europe, the German mechanized divisions wouldn't have been bogged down in the mud in spite of the Autumn rains. So in the end, Russia's backwardness also came to its aid.
bob555555 2 years ago

I find it amusing that when Germans are brave and fight with great spirit, they are "fanatical". As Allies always are "courageus" or "brave".
This gives the idea that Germans fought bravely because they believed in Nazism or some other bullshit.
German soldiers, especially in the last years of the war, couldnt give shit about Hitler. They fought for their country and their brothers in arms.
aaKonda 2 years ago 20
They fought for Hitler and a racist agenda. The US,Soviets and others fought for their own nation and the British fought for worldwide freedom.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
Believe it if you want.
Germans fought for their country, most of the soldiers couldnt care less about Hitler.
According to your logic, Soviets fought for Stalin and for communist agenda.
Soldiers are not given forms where they fill out for which country and for which cause they want to fight, they answer their countrys call.
aaKonda 2 years ago
The Soviets were attacked, they did not attack. The Nazi attacked unprovoked and without any good reason, there was no need to do this.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago

ohyesitsdevo 2 years ago 3
Yes the Soviets sold 70% of the raw materials the Nazi used in WWII.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago 3
The British fought for their own defence, were it not for it and the participation of the United States, the United Kingdom would have been rendered incapable of fighting for 'worldwide freedom'. The country that could be considered to have fought for worldwide freedomis the US, possibly the Soviets as well depending on how you view communism.
ownagerown 2 years ago
The US sat back until they were attacked, sitting back is the definition of cowardice not fighting for freedom. The Soviets sold 80% of the raw materials the Nazi war machine used, they were simply duped and betrayed. The UK bought equipment from the US and saved their economy. If we had been poor you would have sold stuff to the nazi just like the soviets. The UK were offered deal after deal from Hitler, we had no need to fight the guy. It was a war of principle.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
You did not save our economy, we muscled out of the depression through the great means of production that my country had and still has. There was no deal, Hitler wanted Europe, remember the Nazi-Soviet Pact, that was a 'deal' as well. It is not cowardice to sit back either, it is the lack for the want of war, I see nothing wrong with it.
ownagerown 2 years ago
The British war effort bailed out the US economy as they sat back cowardly. The UK did not want a war, we fought for the sake of mankind and that is noble. Cowardice is never noble I am afraid.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
You have no facts correct, Hitler was preparing to launch a large invasion on the mainland United Kingdom and his air force had almost crushed London and other cities, the United Kingdom didn't choose, it was forced.
ownagerown 2 years ago
Hitler planned many things, he wanted the UK to sign a truce, he had no ill will to the British. It is clearly hard for people to swallow the fact that principles matter to the British, they fought for freedom not for themselves.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
There was no such plan constructed, Churchill himself came to our White House and asked us for military assistance. You fought for your own freedom not for that of others, no country was 'noble' as you would have it and you should contain proper facts first.
ownagerown 2 years ago
Hitler offered the UK a truce several times I am afraid. The UK waged war on the Nazi first the only country to do so. You need to get your facts straight. It may be hard to accept a noble stand, it embarrasses other countries, but we won't apologize for it.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
Give me evidence for this, because according to every international source, Churchill came to our white house ( History Channel has film of this), and asked us for our help. London was severely bombed and the RAF was being filled up with volunteer American and Canadian pilots. The British were defeated, not offered a truce at any point, and managed to gain back strategic advantage through help of other allied nations.
ownagerown 2 years ago
Hitler..." I will stop the war now if the UK accepts Germany as an equal partner." The UK bought equipment from North America with our wealth, if we had been poor you guys would have sold equipment to the Nazi. There were 7 US pilots in the BOB.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago 2
Hitler said the same thing to the Russians and Finish, did this happen? NO, it did not, Germany wanted control of the entire WORLD for 1000 years, the United Kingdom is a part of this world. The United Kingdom was also in depression, and you did not pay for supplies with your 'wealth', it was more like credit which you payed after the war. Your air force was toast, ground and tank forces taking heavy losses, and your cities were on the verge of destruction. You fought because you had to.
ownagerown 2 years ago
They had a peace deal with Russia, the Finish were too small to count. The UK air force won the war, you clearly know nothing. Most homes are bought on credit, poor countries or poor people are less likely to be given credit. If the UK was poor and their army as bad as you say the British would have lost and we would all be under Nazi rule.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
The British lost there part of the war, and they were a very inessential part of the conflict compared the to the US or USSR. The US and USSR are the two countries that ended WW2, which is why after Britain was no longer a superpower or even a great power.
ownagerown 2 years ago
The UK won their part of the war and forced the Nazi and and Japan into suicide attacks on larger opponents who did not threaten them. The UK is a world power. How exactly is Russia a world power? London vs Moscow, London wins on every important factor I am afraid. The US remains a creation of the UK, founded by British citizens. They rely on the UK whenever they mess things up, like the credit crunch etc.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
Russia is no longer a superpower, for now the only internationally recognized superpower is the United States, because it has the worlds largest economy and best military. The United Kingdom was a superpower, but in WWI this power was damaged and in two it was destroyed. Britain's importance in the war was minimal. The US is not a UK creation either. It contains land from previously held lands of Russia, France, Spain, as well as the UK. And the current US doesnt rely on the UK, sorry.
ownagerown 2 years ago
The US does have a the biggest population in the developed world, this is tis power. Russia has lost more or less all its influence. The UK's role in WWII was pivotal, they basically won it with help, without the UK there would have been no war. The US was created by British rebels and follows more or less British ideals of democracy, freedom and free markets. At the credit crunch we saw that for the small population the UK has the world still looks to it to solve their problems.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
No, our practices are much closer to that of France and what was Prussia. The UK's role in the war was not pivotal because, although they did much, they did not do anything to change the course of the war like the Soviets or Americans. The USA was not created by British rebels, it was created in British colonies by a mixture of Native Americans, French, British, Spainish, Germans, and British.
ownagerown 2 years ago
The UK changed the course of the war and thats why we won. I admire your stand against the truth, but it has failed. Most of the founding fathers were British citizens.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
I dont know what history you learn, provide evidence of this, how did they change the course of the war. Deal with it, your country fell in that war, Im sorry, but your stance against the truth is ridiculous and childish. Britain in 1776 was a superpower. Britain in ww2 was a much less significant power. The founding fathers were British, however you stated us as being "British rebels" which is incorrect.
ownagerown 2 years ago
He now accepts the founding fathers were British, you arguments are falling fast. The UK defended itself in WWII read about the BOB. After our victory there to war turned, Hitler attacked the Soviets his greatest allie and the Japanese attacked the USA, we won we called their bluff.
warriorprince1010 2 years ago
Britians role in WW2 was huge! Montgomery and the British/Canadians can be credited more than the Americans with the victory in Normandy (the British facing 15 hardened SS and Panzer divisions and the Americans facing 7 understrength divisons) as well as the victory in North Africa and inflicted the biggest japanese defeat of the war at Imphal! And the UK still has the best trained military in the world U.S marines training 13 weeks 25% don't make it! Royal Marines 32 weeks 70% don't make it!
Justiceforall1958 2 years ago 3
And yes Britian did win decisive battles the Battle of Britain, El Alamain, Imphal and British forces bore the brunt of the fighting in Sicily and Normandy! people simply reflect their society. America is a place of self praise at the expense of others whilst Britian will Berate itself and give merit to opponents and rivals. But if the British were as bad as they said they were and Americans as good as they themselves said they were allied campaigns of WW2 wouldn't have ended the way they did!

Without the resistants, last-minute or not, von Scholtitz would have burned Paris. He couldn't.
