i'd rather have the bright colers. camo is too easy to be left behind. i dont know how many times ive stopped for the night and realized, im in for a 8 mile bachtrack if i ever want to see that tool again. not a good feeling!
@PHARRAOH Hi Alan, yeah the bright tool certainly is a bonus for the outdoors. LOL can't say I have ever misplaced a tool. I bet that would be a nightmare having to back track to retrieve it. Take care
Nice review Colin! It's an interesting tool. Seems pretty good for urban stuff with the capability of crossing over into outdoor tasks. Personally for me though, I would prefer the tools with the straight edge and regular saw. That's just me though.. : )
FANTASTIC video! thank you for showing this! completely agree with you that it is more versatile than first impression, heck I carry mine for self defense :)
By the way, if you plan to use keep it for purpose of rescue be sure to keep some very durable gloves with the tool. I cut my hand when using the the glass breaker becuase I didn't have any gloves on--nothing bad, superficial but I was bleeding and it might have been much worse on another kind of window.
Colin, I have one of these I keep in my car for emergency. I litterally used it yesterday to help put out a fire. The glass breaker was needed to get to the flames of a pickup truck camper top that was on fire across from where I work. We were able to put out the fire before the firemen arrived because of the RT. However I never considered using the RT in the woods. I'm even more impressed by this awesome knife after watching this video. Thanks for posting it!
@nextexhale Hi my friend. Wow, nice one. Sounds like you did a great job. I hope no one was hurt. Glad you managed to get the fire out. Great job my friend, stay safe. Take care
@ColinOutdoors No one was hurt, Thank God. However when I got on the scene with the RT and a fire extinguisher. I could hear someone yelling "Is there anyone in there?" There was so much smoke rolling out of the camper that we couldn't see inside and so there was a real sense of urgency to get the flames out in case there was someone inside. I was very thankful for my RT because someone tried to break the window with some type of canister but couldn't. The RT did work!
@nextexhale Glad to hear no one was hurt my friend. You did a great job under pressure my friend. The RT was great to have with you, but you must of remained calm to us it. Well done my friend, a stand up guy. Take care.
Great review, thanks Colin. I think for general outdoors use the One Hand Trekker is better suited than this model. The saw on this one looks to be not really designed for cutting wood, and the this model lacks the can opener. However, as you have shown, it can do the bush tasks if you need it to. Cheers mate.
@AussieMark909 Yes Mark, as I mentioned the saw is not designed for this purpose. But it can work. The Trekker is know as the Trailmaster over here. Also there is the Forester, same think, swapping the philips for a corkscrew.
That's one of the very few knives I own. But if I would own so many knives and multitools as you do, I would definitely leave this one in the car or do you keep an even better rescue tool there in case of an emergency?
@vitopetre Thanks my firend. Yeah its a great option for the car. I keep a rescue hammer/seatbelt cutter in the car, I cannot recall what it is called.
