  • how much bleach to a 2 liter?

  • Lights that work when it is bright outside. BRILLIANT.

  • Water and bleach.. The bleach will kill off the algae

  • My house has windows..for that purpose.

  • Excellent IDEA. THX.

  • what is the black cover for the bottle , made of and what is its function? ima thinking of this , with plastic bottles for a desert area in Mali.. there would be very few places where the black cover could be made in that very remote area... Thanks

  • @libbamacushla you dont need the black cover..... its the battle and the refracting properties of water that are working.

  • @jomarantolinbuy : Thanks. yes, clearly.. ..but I was more thinking that the black piece is for helping to secure the bottle in the roof.. like a stopper / washer, to prevent the bottle falling down.. Is that the case?

  • @libbamacushla they put the black piece on top so the original cover of the bottle won't overheat or melt

  • @jomarantolinbuy : Ok, so, in fact, it is a necessary part of the system... It would be great to have a closer look at it, since it has an important function and would appear be vital to prevent deterioration.. what is it made / recycled from?

  • @libbamacushla just use a strong white material. it would reflect most of the light. and you can substitute chloride with bleach if you have trouble finding chloride

  • a very good idea - but be careful if it rains ;)

  • Para eso ya existían los traga luces ¬¬ , a todos esos lugares les veo problemas de diseño no de tecnología, cosa que cualquier arquitecto te resuelve en un santiamén.

  • i appreciate the Nuclear Powered Plasma Ion Drive Space Ship and the Nuclear Fusion Reactor and the other great inventions, but i much more like these simple and clever ideas!

  • Kind of dumb. It only works during the day. You could take the roof of or put a glass rooftop :)))

  • @misterxzibit You have not thought your suggestion through. A glass roof is too expensive for the economies this light is meant to help. Glass requires extra support and technique to install. Glass requires more money to purchase. The water refracts the light thus only requiring a small opening to get a lot of light. Plastic bottles are throw aways and therefore cheap. Once installed, these can last 2 to 5 years and are inexpensive to replace. You can see for youself the improvement.

  • เฮ้ย เจ๋งโคตรอ้ะ!!!

  • For his sake, I hope that roof is not asbestos!!

  • Simple, but very good. I wonder about freezing too.

  • @zeebraeend In Brazil it never freezes. So, no big deal for them =]

  • SAJ SKORAJ NI ZA VERJETI--ELEKTRIKA ZASTONJ...CE DRUGO NE PRISPARAS NA LUCI.....VELIKO PROSTOROV BI TO ZELO NUCALI....

  • Very nice, It's basically a homemade version of Solatube. I wonder how well these would work if the temperature drops below freezing.
