  • very satriani sounding

  • Hey, how are you getting that violin like (Eric Johnson) tone? ...is it just an OD pedal?

  • Dude, ALWAYS go below the G-string. You don't know what you're missing.

  • The bit when you were soloing at the end... The progression sounded something more like C-Gm-Dm-F. As in Gminor instead of Gmajor hence there was a more fusion sounding thing going on?

  • great lesson i have gone over this alot thanks dave

  • your awesome dave thanks for the different perspective and approch to lead and melody please keep'em coming

  • vai lick at the end!! damm i wish i could tour with the master like dave

  • Hi Dave, what camera and audio interface do you use?

  • im usually one of those key center guys haha i learned alot, this should really help me improve

  • "I didn't even go below the g string - that's what she said = but we wanna focus on what the chord tones are giving us..." lol Dave. I do the same thing every time I mention that string to my friends

  • Gotta say Dave, probably my favorite lesson yet. Thanks!

  • hehe...one note slipped at 10:06 ? ...I love to hear your playing! =D ...you are an amazing improviser!

  • "i dont even think i went below the g string, thats what she said" :D

lol dave you sly guy, just slipped that in there

  • Ah, I thought that this cap thing is because of Pilichowski:P

  • That's what she said!!!!

    :)

  • Hi Dave, is there an Axe FX video coming ? :D

    Rik

  • Go Texas Rangers!!!

  • A nice way to think about chord tones in soloing is thinking about those notes having different weights assigned to them as the chords go by in the progression. The highest weights go to the root, 3rd, and 5th to the chord of the moment. With tonal center soloing, you run the risk of hitting notes that ARE part of the tonal center but clash with the chord function.

  • This helped me a lot!

  • nice cap dave!! go phillies!!

  • Great stuff as always.

  • Hmm I see you've got Wojtek Pilichowski's cap:) So im guessing you like his music:) BTW POLISH POWER!
