take this video down what did you do film it with a webcam? god i hate it when ppl like you ruin movies. my favorite movie...you should smack your self with a newspaper
ummm. im sorry but beethoven never studied under mozart. He meet him once as he was famous for his improvisataions. Mozart at firs didnt think much of him. Beethoven then got cross thus launching him into a magical impro and mozarts interest doubled. Beethoven had to return to Bonn shortly after his arriva to vienna. i think his mother died and that left Beethoven as the head of the family ( the dad was a drunk.) and also its the kreutzer sonata. just so you know!
He took the words right out of my mouth! That's exactly how I describe music to people. I've been playing piano for 21 years and just the other day, I was telling someone that music takes me to another place and practically hypnotizes me! And when I play it, whether it be a waltz or march, I am envisioning it! How strange. Anyway, just saw this movie last night and I didn't realize how miserable and sad Beethoven's life was. But I liked the movie, and this is one of my favorite parts!
Beethoven did Study with Mozart but only briefly, because his father died and he needed to take care of his brothers. (He was the oldest one). Yet, in the little time that Mozart knew him, he knew that one day he would be someone, in his own words,"Watch that young man, some day he will make a noise in the world".
uh actually he did study as a student underneath Mozart as well as Haydn, just he didn't get to study long enough since his mother died shortly after staying in Vienna with Mozart
It is the first movement of the "Kreutzer" sonata. My violin teacher would not let me study it until I was "at least 30" It is the ultimate of any violin study. You are drained emotionally and physically and spiritually after playing it. Yet, you come back for more. Technically, it isn't as difficult as some things, but what it does to the player...
this is the sound... omg that piece in the violin makes me cry when I play it I can contain the tears.. this is so true... music is a another dimension
This part of the movie still has an effect on me. Whenever I hear this song, I get chills. Not to mention, he leaves me breathless with his extreme melt-in-your-mouth hotness.
I need to see this movie. I'm going to go hunting for it tomorrow. I'm trying to watch a few scenes(making sure I don't ruin anything for myself) to hold me over until I can rent it.
On another note: Today, I have discovered that Gary Oldman is THE best. I watched Dracula and Sid And Nancy today and Leon and The Fifth Element a few days ago, and I never realized how amazingly talented he is. AND he's absolutely gorgeous! He is the definition of perfection.
RequiemForADream412, Gary Oldman truly becomes Beethoven in this movie, an amazing performance! This is my favorite movie of all time! Probably because Beethoven is my favorite composer of all time!
Of course his performance is amazing. Isn't it always? ^_^ I'm sure this'll become one of my favorites seeing as how Beethoven's my favorite composer, too. I really hope the video store has this movie. =/ I've been looking forward to watching it since I watched these few clips yesterday...
RequiemForADream412, Yes, Gary is always amazing. The movie is readily available. The director Bernard Rose does a great job with this movie, even though some of it is fiction a lot of the stories are true.
Watch him in True Romance, he's amazing! Also, if you want to be shallow and be overwhelmed by his hotness, watch The Scarlet Letter. Anyway, this movie and his performance in it are so completely underrated.
I've seen True Romance. He's great in it, even though he isn't in it too much. Ooh, I thought a good overwhelmed-by-hotness movie was Romeo Is Bleeding. I was drooling over him throughout the entire movie. Haha. ^_^
I've been wanting to see The Scarlet Letter, but I haven't been able to go hunting for it yet.
I teach film and he's always fun to discuss. I actually use this movie for my class. He's a real actor. He once had an uncredited part in a film that was about a minute long and he apparently researched it for days--just for that short role. He really commits.
I so wish someone would be able to get a good audio of this clip. This has got to be one of the best parts of the movie... actually, the whole movie was amazing. Great post. Thank you.
i wanted to see this movie soooo bad, that sometime last week i stayed up until 6am and watched it from start to finish, when it was over, i barely had enough energy to crawl into bed, but i love the film, and i love LOVE gary oldman, and the movie was very much worth my lost hours of sleep lol.
This is one of (if not the) best scene from Immortal Beloved, a movie that you should drop everything you are currently doing and go see if you have not yet seen it. Gary Oldman is so amazing, you kind of feel bad for all actors that are not Gary Oldman, because how can they hope to compete with someone like this?
This is the scene in the Movie when you truly realize that Beethoven was just on a higher level than any of us. Goldman basically became Beethoven...it was the greatest performance by an actor that I have ever seen in all the movies that I have viewed.
I'm with you. One hears so much praise of movie stars who are actually bare-boned actors at best (e.g. Robert DeNiro). But Gary Oldman puts them all to shame. He is so perfect, so polished. The only other actor I'd put on his level is Ron Perlman.
Love it!

Beethoven never ever studied with Mozart. I'm not sure Beethoven even met Mozart. You're probably confusing Mozart with Haydn.

Wow, really? It'd seem to me that the violin quartet at the end of the movie ("the comedy is over") would be more emotionally draining.
That's really interesting.

My favorite movie, great scene!. The idea for this scene was taken from a story written by Leo Tolstoy: The Kreutzer Sonata. Great story!
