  • This is GREAT!!! Come on!!! Those who criticize are out of touch with reality! This method uses the least materials and the least set-up. It's cheap, effective, and quick (good grief... the entire video is 3.5 minutes long-- you're on the water for many hours-- a few minutes to load and unload is nothing!). My schedule causes me to go boating alone (I'm off when everyone is working)... so this will work perfectly for me. Thumbs up from Southern California!

  • Geez, spend the extra $30 and buy a tow-ball, then use the damn trailer. The poor excuse for a roof rack on these vehicles are designed for looks, not practicality or usage.

  • With a little work on the design, this contraption could have possibilities. But I can't see anyone with commonsense using it on a car like this....

  • I would invent something that would lift it straight up in the air, then drive the car under it, something that has four legs that jack or something, but hey...This is how great inventions come about, you can always improve upon them later. Give the guy a break!

  • Too much work........

  • My thoughts:

    1) How often do you load & unload your boat?

Leave it on the shore locked up or at the docks.

    2) Borrow a buddy's pickup truck.

    3) Scratches for the car from those wood fulcrums.

    4) Kindness of strangers or friends.

Loading it at the house - ask your neighbor or someone.

At the docks, as a passerby. Two seconds with 2 people.

  • @MrPavePaws

    (1) this makes it easy, so you could go boating often.

leaving it at the docks where I live would be extremely expensive... and the boat would certainly be stolen

    (2) why schedule to borrow a truck when for a few bucks you can make this?

    (3) the wood fulcrums attach to the racks. put duct tape on the racks before using them

    (4) where I live, if you ask anyone anything, they think you want to rob them, so they run away and call the police

There's a lot to say for independence.

  • looks like you need friend

  • GLAD I HAVE A PICKUP TRUCK

  • Common guys, this is an original design...

The point is to get the big boat on top of the little car. Extras to strap on the roof and safety, no problem it is all relative right?

  • It SAYS SINGLEHAND.... hmmmm but he used both hands... its just a soft vw car ... just drag it up over the back of it... ;)

  • That is one mother of all wooden frames to hold a boat that's actually too big for the car. What do you do with the frame that's left on the ground? Something else to strap to the roof?

  • Great idea! Thanks for sharing!

  • This is a great example for an ingenious Idea for an non existent problem. His next device will help get a horse into the back of a hatchback.

  • @sharpie1341 Not a non-existent problem, but definitely a niche issue.

  • Он явно заипался, я думал лодка упадет всё-таки.

  • Nривет @SuperMegaPops

Лодку, которая не подпадает ни разу.

  • ...

    Brilliant design. Thanks.

    good video too

  • wow what a stupid idea!! i feel dumb for watching the entire thing.... wow

  • why dosnt this cunt use a trailor

  • great idea but it takes way too long and its a lot of work. were does the long 2x4s go ??

  • Congradulations, an elegant solution to a common problem. Nice little boat btw, did you build it?

  • I admire Mr. Niwa, this is a creative solution - maybe not the right one for me, but glad to see people thinking outside the box!

  • you have to wonder (A),what kind of audiences he gets every time he decides to go boating,(B) has this guy got no friends /neighbours,(C)why he doesn't buy a trailer and (D)is the tide still in by the time he gets there.

  • Nothing new there as roof racks for cars date back to at least the 1920s - problem is, I don't believe that roof rack is rated for anything near what that boat appears to weigh. You're much safer off in that situation with a small trailer that the car can tow.

  • poor car

  • Great idea, very clever!

  • GET A TRUCK. YOUR GONNA RUIN YOUR CAR

  • very nice boat

  • That seems like too much walking! Get a trailer or something...
