  • I have to change my CSU on my fork as they have stone chips on the stanchions and are leaking oil. Bearing in mind ive only had them a year its rather annoying (I bought them off fleabay)

Has anyone got any advice on protecting the stancions from stone chips?

  • good video buddy

  • I am glad to know a little oil weeping out of the fork seals is pretty normal

  • @teuntjeremi assuming the fork was already on the bike with the lower race installed you just undo the stem clamp bolts and the bolt on top of the steerer and slide the fork out with the lower bearings coming with the fork, dw youll be fine its easier than it sounds

  • thumbs up for audio delay :D

  • yes please we need videos how to install or change front forks pleazzze

  • Can you do a vid on how to install a new fork

  • @dbw16d RTFM!

  • Great this video!!! Thankyou

  • @airoscar A little oil weeping out of the fork seals is pretty normal. To preserve the performance, you'll occasionally want to pry them up and make sure that the foam rings are saturated with oil. Use Fox Float fluid for this. You'll also want to wipe the upper tubes clean after you ride, as the oil can attract dirt and grit that can accelerate the wear on the stanchion coating.

  • What does mean when i have oil coming out of the dust seal on the right side slowly?

  • @SeGaSaTuRn1994 It sounds like you need to remove the 10mm nuts from the bottom of the fork legs. You'll need to remove the adjuster knob on the right leg before that. It will have a hex set screw.

  • im stuck with my forks can u help me iv removed a circlip from the each side of the shocks now i removed the 2 top bungs that are pushed in and if u look down the tubes theres like a nut in the buttom but its round?? how do u remove this to get the shock tubes out?

  • Man i need your help, my fork it's stucket what should i do ? :( ?? HELP !!

  • @MrBuByLa I have the same problem :/

  • @EuroDollaProductions if he was a good man.. a helper.. he could give it to an advice.. but i try it with a 96 grades alcohol and couple of hummer.. but hold the fork on the ground... not on concrete. If it not works... buy another one :( !

  • @MrBuByLa yeah, in one shop they fixed the fork, but always after winter it stucks, or if I'm not using the bike.

  • i had no idea there was so much to biking.

  • Great video, very helpful, i have serviced 4 forks this weekend, Thanks !!

  • ...also some people say to use Fox Float Fluid to soak the foam rings and on the dust wipers, but others say just use Fox 10wt suspension oil for everything? What is considered best?

  • @MattScales just goggle what fox float fluid is, you can by 5 litres for not to much at you're local car shop place

  • @MattScales

Thicker oil will stay around longer so may be preferable for most. However, if you use a thinner oil like the same oil you place in the lowers it'll still work perfectly fine though a good tip (for all forks actually) is to turn the fork upsidedown for a short period before use to allow the oil in the lowers to run down into the foam rings. It helps if you compress the fork a little when upsidedown too to force oil into the rings. Doing this should assure the foam is always wet.

  • Hey! Great video, but I'm a little confused and need a little more advice. In all the written instructions I've seen to simple service these forks, it involves undoing the top caps, removing the damper cartridge and draining the oil on the lockout side of the fork, it ehn insructs to fill the upper tube up with 160cc of FOX 10 wt. to prime the cartridge, and cycle the top cap up and down a few times, this video doesn't cover that, is it necessary?

  • @Virtualkiller2005, Sorry about any confusion... the edit job on our quicky video doesn't show the right leg fill. It had a much larger volume of fluid as required by the damper assembly. The left, or brake side, only got 10-15ml. The right side gets over 100ml, depending on the fork model (check your owners manual specs).

  • why do u put more oil on the brake side

  • I wish the float fluid was in a syringe

  • manitou forks look like the most solidly built on the market along with marzochi. Personally i think rockshox are at the bottom of the list apart from boxxers

  • @1982FMJ Thats why manitou sells so great .. i own(ed) a fox, manitou, magura, rockshocks, marzochi and a lefty .. magura has the best build quality followed by fox and rockshocks .. lefty is also great :D marzochi makes great forks only the buildquality isn't that great .. manitou, don't get me started :P

  • @1982FMJ um last time i checked rockshox makes boxxers

  • Great video. Can someone told me what is the difference between 10wt suspension fluid and 7wt fluid ? Can I use 10wt for Tallas ?

  • This seems fairly simple, although I think it's missing the part where the rebound rod is dried of oil, but that makes the whole proces a whole lot more complicated. What I'm wondering now is, why did my 2008 Float RL leak oil on the right leg? Some o-rings? Where are they, how can I change them?

  • y do u overhaul ur forks?

  • I like your glasses where can I get those?

  • is this the same procedure for a Fox 32 Float RL fork?

  • @skijoesh should be the same for all fox shocks

  • Wait a minute, This dude is wearing a maxines shirt. Wow it's a small world, I have had many good times at that bar. I totally forgot about working on forks. lol

Could this guy be in the ville?

  • This video seems to be titled incorrectly. It is more of an oil service not an overhaul. Where is the overhaul video. If the air is leaking and you want to replace the o-rings and seals (not the foam rings and dust seals). I would like to see a complete overhaul video. Hopefully it exist and I just can't find. Need to rebuild a FOX F29 RL 100. Thanks.

  • Thanks so much, very informative!

  • i have a question.... i want to get these forks that have thicker axels. Now would i have to get a completely new wheel or just replace the insides of it?

  • Unless your current wheelset is designed to be transformed from a traditional quick release to a thru axle ("thicker axel"), you must purchase a new front hub at the very least. I believe Easton wheels has a wheels that have tool-less interchangeable axles.

  • Nice thx for the hepl you rule 5/5

  • how much is that fork?

  • @fritzter28 about £600

  • Nice - thx for the video

  • that shouldn't be too hard at all

  • nice video very helpfully

  • Do you use a torque wrench for the push rods?
