  • I would really really love a mp3 of this

  • How can something so Beautiful kick soooo much ass!!

  • per's backing, nothing more needs saying! :)

  • lol i realized ti now that the progression of the song reminds me a bit on Little wing

  • Judging by the tears running down my cheeks, they did it justice.

  • @Fritha71 they did do it justice. It was a very special moment and i was proud to be there.

  • I miss Dio :(

  • should do a studio cover of this, fits opeth big time!

  • That just shows, what a big influence Ronnie James Dio had on music. Everyone tributes him: Iron Maiden, Opeth, Scorpions etc. That's one of my favourite Rainbow songs!

  • Jimi Hendrix Little Wing much?

  • GREAT cover!

  • This is amazing. Was there somewhere, that side of the audience too. Amazing stuff.

  • God damn i miss him already, thank u mike for doing this!

  • i love this song and opeth covering it is awsome

  • dio would of bin proud

  • @webber9416

    Would have been*

  • uh uh uh uh uuuhhh uh

  • i'll never forget this moment.

  • The highlight of Bloodstock and a beautiful tribute

  • 185 people know what they're doing and 2 people don't have souls!

  • I love Mikael's voice!

  • One of the most atmospheric songs covered by one of the most atmospheric bands in the world!

Perfect! Dio would be very proud!

  • "I'm also a bit nervous because... I can't really sing."

    Fucking LIAR.

  • Dio would be turning in his grave... to hide the huge boner Opeth have just given him! ;]

  • Lol @ 5:10 "Aww, this is so cosmic!"

But seriously, this is a great cover, they really did it justice :)

  • fucking amazing

  • This. is. amazing. Original is better but it really annoys me when Opeth constantly put themselves down!

  • @micwx003 He's only joking though, he knows how awesome his band is. He's just nervous cos it's Dio which is understandable :)

  • he just does it in an ironic way, he know he is good, but he is humble and crazy on top of that

  • Fredrick is a master of the guitar in terms of solos but Mikael is master of guitar in terms of riffage.

  • Fredrick is amazing at solos. Not just a shredder, he has feeling.

  • Opeth and Rainbow probably my two favorite bands. Thanks for the post.

  • Interesting take on a classic song.

  • Much preferred Ross the Boss earlier that day doing a shortened version of the same song just before they go into Hail and Kill

  • @DeathReaver10 The Ross The Boss version was ok, but the song is so much better suited to Opeth. Hail and Kill was amazing though, the singer was about 5 feet from me when he was standing on the barrier :D

  • Much preferred Ross the Boss earlier that day doing a shortened version of the same song

  • I was there. Every time I watch this on youtube, I feel sad. :'(

  • "Ooooooh this is so cosmic... I love this band..." PERFECT!

  • Surprisingly good quality audio for an amateur concert recording!! What camera did you use? Did it have an external mic?

  • @gothakane ...........no camera,just a Sony C905 mobile phone.

  • @merhabene damn, nice one sony. Theanks for uploading man ;)

  • @merhabene I was somewhere in the crowd. This is what it sounded like to me from my perspective.

  • I'm sad that the video doesn't show how emotional the crowd was, it was amazing

  • If anyone's fit to do a Dio cover, it's Mikael. One day Mikael's going to die too, and if I want to sing Harvest or Burden or Windowpane on that day, I'm going to open by saying that it was sung by one of the greatest metal singers of all time.

  • at least he tried. its okay

  • one of the best moments of my life

  • great effort, love that album....thanks ronnie!!

  • @rockaholicsrecords Oh please. I'm dizzy from how much I rolled my eyes this nonsense.

  • @TotalHalibut : you 're not making much sence, maybe because you're missing a "with all" in the above sentence, but i do not see why Opeth are anything special. And the fact is Mikael, can't sing very well. It's a great thing that he's open about it.

  • @rockaholicsrecords mikael is an awesome singer but no matter who sings it it will never replace the legend

  • "i can't sing" goddamn it Mikael why do you lie?!!

  • was there for it, beautiful send off for a true legend, had a tear in my eye singin along. And a think almost everyone else there did too

  • I had goosebumps in places I never knew I had during this song. Absoloutely haunting

  • 5:10 "oh this is so cosmic"

  • for a guy who says he can't sing, he does a damn fine job , i love Opeth :-)

RIP Dio , we'll never forget you

  • the only thing that could have been better than Opeth doing this would have been Dream Theater doing it. Maybe.

  • Fuck I got a chill down my spine !! let alone if I heard it live oO

  • I am so glad to find a good quality video of this magic moment... i was approximatively next to the guy who filmed this :) it was so much worth coming to bloodstock....

  • Man, I was hoping someone recorded this! An amazing tribute. Very emotional. Bloodstock is like one big family and we will have the Ronnie James Dio stage forever. Legend.

  • Lol at some creeper saying 'Ohhh, this is so cosmic'

  • ill never forget this, just awesome

  • I was so close to crying when they played this song.

  • I love the guys talking in this. They really show there passion (the guys filming it that is) 'Catch the Rainbow' is brillant. Ah, Dio you really were fantastic.

  • @Mrmemania21 Sadly i have to totally disagree. The people talking over this were most likely just trying to tell each other how awesome this is/was a bit like when people constantly say how great something is to people to convince themselves and others. Sheep mentality. But i'm not going to talk about this now. I'm very happy the poster put this up as its awesome.

  • @Mrmemania21 ............it wasnt me talking,it was 2 pricks that had tried to push thru and when they realised they werent going to get thru they kept talking, didnt tell them to shut up till after the song as it was bad enough without me shouting over it.

  • @Mrmemania21 I look back on my comment 6 months ago and think 'that was quite aggressive' sorry about that. haha. what was I saying, must be having a bad day. Dio the legend!

  • i went down to Bloodstock just for the Saturday, cant belive i missed this!

    R.I.P Dio

  • Its not kinda fashionable, its your bloody job to worship Dio!

  • amazing! so nice to see such an amazing band do such an honest tribute

  • This was utterly amazing! I loved this!

  • My klenex box is empty.

  • Very nice. Thanks for posting.

  • god damn this was amazing!!!!!!! i cant belive they played this! i was at the fround aswell XD!!!

  • Absolutly fucking fantastic glad I was there to see it (and my first time seeing Opeth as well :)

  • I was there and this blew me away as i've already stated. I just wanted to capture this entrie song in my mind. So I will say one thing about the video. If you really were there and you think it's awesome you stop talking to your mate, you just listen and take it in and don't say a damn thing till afterward. Thats what happens when you really appreciate.... you don't talk about how amazing it is during...you just know. The people talking actually just don't get it or they would shut the hell up.

  • @atnighthawk

Um, I wasn't there and I usually don't talk during concerts. But all people aren't alike. I can imagine saying "oh shit, this is great" during a song in any bands live performance.

  • @yrrahyrrah Removed my last comment, turns out it wasn't the poster talking over the vid although i didnt say it was. But i feel my point still stands if your "listening" to something awesome....why pollute it with your own noise till its finished....thats all i'm saying. I get that people react differently, but thats just common sense. When Bleak was played I just had a massive grin on my face at the intro riff and probably "could" have gone mental into what there was of a pit..but i didnt. :P

  • This absolutely ruled. I was singing along like an idiot but there was real good atmosphere and feeling for the whole set and especially for this song. :)

  • classy

  • were sooo lucky to have been there, just an epic moment . one of the best things ive ever seen.

  • I'm not a huge Opeth fan, but I do like them, and respect them as musicians. I like 3 things about this cover...

1- It's in honour of the best metal singer that ever lived, Ronnie James Dio.

2- It is very well done, not an exact replica, but has all the elements that makes this a great Dio song, and adds a bit of the Opeth flavor at the same time.

3- The choice is perfect for Opeth (with the moodiness and the mellotron and all that).

    Very well done, guys.

  • This was such a perfect moment, I'll never forget this.

  • 5.10 "ahhhh this is so cosmic" lol

was soooo good, so priveliged to have seen this :)

  • “The only way you can get good, unless you're a genius, is to copy. That's the best thing. Just steal.” - Ritchie Blackmore hmmm try the intro to "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie.

  • FUCKING FANTASTIC

A BILLION AND A HALF GOLD STARS.

And i'll also come and shoot whoever disliked this video :D

  • Amazing, chills during the last solo

  • This was so awesome, big chills!

  • I am so happy someone recorded and uploaded this. Unfortunately it is near impossible to capture the true atmosphere and emotion that transcended upon the crowd when they played this song. I am not afraid to admit I shed a tear during this song. A true mind-blowing and fantastic experience that I felt with every fibre of my being. It was an amazing tribute to Dio

  • @TwilightHall i was right in front of akesson, against the barrier, when he did the solo i just stood there staring blankly into space listening to it. i think my ears orgasmed

  • @TwilightHall man it was fucking insane!!!! everyone around me all joined together lighters went up and so did the smoke, the whole crowd join as one

  • @TwilightHall yeh i was loving this.... one of the few times i've seen bloodstock almost silent.

  • this is pretty amazing. nice filling in by the bass player.

  • Was there!. Almost shed a tear. Incredible

  • this was absolutely amazing... horns up to the uploader of this piece of metal history \\m// \\m//

  • this was amazing. BOA delivers another blinding moment.

if someone e.g. Metalhammer were to record a dio tribute CD, they should definitley get Opeth to record this!

  • Anyone else there nearly cry?

  • This was the highlight of day 1!

  • fantastic, highlight of the festival for me

  • Stunning, beauty, magic. I was fighting back the tears. I hope the release this cover at some point, it's fantastic.

  • No words can describe how fucking mindblowing this was.

A quote from a guy camped next to us in Asgard:

"Opeth tripped my mind, man. It was like the stage was a boat and the ground was moving with colours".

  • this was fantastic opeth imo were the best of the festival

  • Thanks for catching a fantastic moment.

  • this was great. i would have filmed this but i was to far back

  • One of the most beautiful tributes to come out of the passing of Dio...... just amazing. RIP Ronnie

  • very very very good and pretty :')

  • AMAZING

  • This track was the single greatest moment of Bloodstock. It was just .. amazing.

  • Awesome, fantastic cover!

  • Bloody brilliant! Thanks for uploading.

  • Awesome, thank you for uploading this.
