  • Thanks for the video!! The last time this happened to me it cost me $200.00. My Polaroid again had the same problem wouldn't turn on nothing no red or blue. Followed your simple instructions and studied your video and did it myself for $3.60. Thanks Again!!!!

  • Wow....you make it look so easy....wish me luck.

  • @RoCepeda1 Good Luck :)

  • I just repaired my TV. It was very quick and easy. Your video was right on the button. I just had the high pitch buzzing noise. Now I have a perfect picture with perfect sound quality. Thanks Again!!!!

  • Thank you! Your are a god! I got an xbox 360 for repairing my friends tv!

  • Hey should I just replace both capacitors .just one was bad .

  • Thanks a billion raider it worked on my 36 inch dvdcombo polariod tv I payed $7 for the solder gun order the right caps 10uf 450 from ebay $10 .u are the man am watching my tv right now .the wife is happy so am happy . U should do more videos.

  • so, I'm not a whiz at this stuff. Isn't there something, some point where you can shock yourself on a TV? and is that anywhere on this board?

  • @hadjiofthenorth Yes that is a possibility. The board could hold a charge still in it. I was unable to get anything for safety the day I did this. I would recomend you use a static bracelet or static paper with anything you touch.

  • Thanks for the video raider.. Add me to the success list.. Actually I spent more time looking for info on the web about the no picture problem than the repair itself.. It cost me $6.75 for 2 Capacitors that weren't exactly the same configuration but the same values of 10uf and 450v.. Your video gave me the encouragement I needed to give it a go.. Thanx Again...

  • @pjdambra Glad to hear it worked out for you

  • Thanks for the video...Just ten minutes ago,I had a blinking light like others have and now its working like a champ. I didn't even need to buy solder, there was enough there to grab the replacements. And for the people who asked about the buzzing, I think that this also fixes that too. My set came on fully after every 11th or 12th try every other week, but when it did, the buzzing came for maybe 5min as some have said and then it stopped. So if anything, pop open the back and check the caps.

  • 2 capacitors (1000 uf)...2.98 $, A soldering kit...7.89$, ice cream from cold stone (one needs to charge for the job)...3.89$, being the hero in my house... PRICELESS ;) thanks raider2845. I owe you one dude.

  • Ignore the dislikes. I have the same problem than bodeknocker, my Polaroid is making a high pitch noise when I start it and the noise stops after 2-4 mins. If I turn the volume down the noise doesn't go away, but if I click mute it stops. Do you know what could be happening? And if I can fix the problem the same way you did yours? Thanks again I'm sure your videos have helped many people

  • @Andres7408 A lot of the people having the same problem as myself have a loud buzzing noise with it. I did not experience that but it goes away when people do this. I cant tell you for sure it will fix it but it is def worth looking into.

  • @Raider2845

Great vid bro. I have this same tv but the power source went out (the red led light doesn't illuminate at all anymore). My capacitors all look good. please tell me what I should check next. thanks

    1love

  • Out of curiosity I decided to see how many likes and dislikes there were on these videos. After saving countless people hundreds or even thousands of dollars I cant believe there are people disliking it.. Guess they dont like saving money.

  • @Raider2845 HEY, Good info. Just ignore the idiots who dislike. There are jokers who will click on dislike of anything just to stir up trouble.

Question though, is the the same fix for when the TV starts buzzing? Our started doing that a few weeks ago. SO far the buzzing goes away after about 2 minutes.

  • @Raider2845 Have to thank you a lot for the videos! I had the same problem with my Polaroid, and your video helped me fix it. I am glad I spent only 5 dollars to fix it myself rather then spend 100's to get it fixed, or buy a new one.

  • @assavenger Glad to hear it worked out for you.

  • Yes I do know that actually. The LCD panel, which on mine has a nice black spot about 8 inches long and 2 inches wide, is made by Proview, if I'm not mistaken. So now Proview products are on my list of avoid too. I bought a new LG 42 inch and was planning to using my Polaroid as a target for my AR15 and put it on Youtube. Keep checking if you want to see it :)

  • Who else here will never buy another Polaroid product ever again???? My tv lasted 13 months..Polaroid can die!!!

  • @JoshMcGrath98 Just so you know the components in all of these tv's are used in all of the different models. The name on the outside is not necessarily what the name on the components are. If you buy another set from say Panasonic it could very well be the same stuff on the inside.

  • Thank you soooo much for this video!! I fixed my TV all by myself in 30 minutes-for only $1.00 plus shipping. I appreciate your expertise.

  • Thank you! YOU are the MAN! Never soldered before in my life. Went down to Radio Shack, bought the capacitors and a soldering gun, and followed your video. Gathered the kids around for the moment of truth. Turn it on and BOO-YEAH! No more waiting 15+ minutes for a picture, and listening to that dog scrambling high-pitched noise. Thank you!

  • I soldered the capacitors but the tv isn't working. I guess I'm using too much flux.

  • @DEEZUN123 you only need to use enough to get a connection and secure it tightly.

  • Lol...Solder.

  • I recently found an FXM1132C 32" Polaroid Flatscreen with one bad capacitor. I've never soddered/desoddered anything before and I know what must be done in order to get it working again but my question is: What cap level should I upgrade/replace the old ones with? Suggestions? Even though one is bad I wanna replace them both. Thanx!

  • @DEEZUN123 Soldering is easy and someone without any experience can figure it out really quickly. Just be careful not to hit the board with the iron in the wrong places. And as for the cap I would only recommend you use the same as the original. I was not able to get to a specialty electronic store so I used the same type cap except with higher voltage. I think with the slightly higher voltage might keep it from frying as fast as it did.

  • @Raider2845 Thanks a bunch. I was able to remove the caps with ease. I'm gonna get the new caps now, hopefully they wont fry. I'm a lil nervous about soldering more than one contact point so I gotta be careful with the flux wire. Fingers crossed!

  • @DEEZUN123 I will recommend you use some of the solder that is still on it if you have not removed it all. Then only use a little little bit to make sure you have a solid contact. Make sure you heat up what you need to stick together before you add any solder to it.

  • Hey i did this followed add the things you said and now my tv won't turn on, please help

  • @thentantt Are you sure the caps you replaced were bad? I have only had one person say it didnt work for them at first which was due to the caps not being completely soldered back into place. Make sure you have a solid connection.

  • @Raider2845 well i repleaced the ones that felt loose

  • @thentantt What do you mean they felt lose?

  • I found your videos yesterday. I took the TV off the wall and opened it up, saw that the capacitors were swollen on the end, found some replacements, soldered them in and re-hung the TV in less than an hour. The TV works great! It was an easy fix, thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

  • ok i did that on my tv but my capacitors dont look bad at all, before i did it, the red light turned on and i would hit the power button and the blue one would come on and you would hear it start up and the polaroid logo would flash and shut off and i would have to unplug it and plug it in again to make it do it again. when i replaced the capacitors it still does the same thing. anyone what else ould be wrong? plz help!!

  • @nallsballs It is possible the capacitors are still bad.. I would recommend you google how to test them and see if they are good or not. You left me with no information of what tv or anything you have so I cant make any other suggestions.. Is this the same TV as I have listed?

  • @Raider2845 yes it is the exact same tv that you have

  • @SuperMommy1982 I do remember hearing one person talk about this same problem before.. I will look into it but I dont remember them having a good outcome.

  • Thanks man! It worked!!! I saved hundreds, I was about to buy another tv. keep the good work.

  • I would like to say thanks YOU Are THE MAN!!! A friend give me this TV because he didn't want to pay to get it fixed.Know Everything is good thanks

  • I just came upon the problem 2 days ago man i was so upset but your video has given me hope so where can i buy this part at that the tv needs?I've only had my tv for two years now i think they sold a bunch of messsed up tv's becuz i been reading up on this and so many people have this problem.

  • IT WORKS IT WORKS!!!! THAAAAAANKKKKKSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi! I just wanted to say thank you very much for helping us with our Polaroid. We had a different ccapacitor that was popped up but we finally found someone who sold them. We didnt have a problem putting it in the tv or anything and now it works perfect! Thank you for posting this you just saved us a bunch of money because we just thought we had to buy a new tv...Our. UR AWESOME!! THANK YOU!!

Our prb was the tv had sound but no picture.. Hope everyone gives this a try b4 junking it:)

  • Raider i owe u a beer dude

  • The problem My Polaroid has is that the picture just freezes up and won't respond to any commands from the remote or side buttons. All we can do is unplug it. Any ideas ???

  • @tworth1953 i had the same problem, the problem your having is due to the cable..

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. Everything in your video was on point, I even used the radio shack parts with 35v. You helped save me tons of money. I was up and running in about 30 minutes, only because I have never soldered before. Thanks again. Excellent post.

  • Thanks for these awesome, informative videos! I would however recommend anyone attempting this fix who is new to soldering to check out some other how-to videos before getting started. That said, these videos were a lifesaver!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING AND SHARING THIS!!!!

Our TV started doing the same thing, but would still come on after unplugging several times. I thought we'd have a huge repair bill to look forward to. It took about an hour to fix. Radio Shack didn't have the caps, but after finding them, perfect! Thanks again!!

  • btw our TV lasted almost four years before this started. We found caps for .50 a piece!

  • By the way, the information about how to detect a bad cap by the bulging was SO helpful. If we had just opened it up and looked, we would not know what to look for.,

  • Your video was posted a year ago, is the set still working? Mine stopped working 2 mo ago and I can't afford the repairs. You've given me new hope. Thanks!! : )

  • Yes it is working great still. I have not had any problems what so ever with it since I repaired it.

  • @Raider2845 my buddy has the same exact tv and I repaired is with the same caps u did from radio shack and they lasted about 2 months or so and they fried just like the stock ones would u know what could be making them fry im guessing to much power is going thro them or something like that

  • @fect900 - I dont know for sure what actually causes them to go bad but I do know they use them so that they do go bad. In order for someone to have their tv repaired they have to take it to someone who is certified by that company.. Which means you have to send it to them. So the stuff is cheap so that it doesent last. My caps have been in my TV for a year and a half.. Maybe longer and still going strong.

  • Thanks sooo much. I fix my T.V. by following your great video. You saved me a ton of money. I have never done anything like this and if you have haven't either don't be scared just follow video and you will have it up and running.

  • I have had this tv in my closet for about a year and a half because it would not work! And when we moved I thought to look on here and see....I cant believe this!! We actually took apart an old tv and used it's parts!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! You are greatly appreciated!!

  • my family were so amazed!! hahaha!! u rock dude!!

  • thannnnkkkkk youuuu soooo muccchhhh for dis!! save me a lot of money!! thanks again!!

  • I have a FLM 3232, if I leave the tv off and then turn on, I get picture and sound, after a short time I hear a crackling sound and then the picture goes black, but I still have sound. I changed the caps in the power supply per video and still have same issue. Sound comes from behind the back light inverter, so I am thinking it may be that. ?? Any suggestions ?

  • Before you fixed it, did you have sound and no picture, or nothing but a little blue light on the bottom right corner? My TV's sound works just fine, but no picture. Plus, I'd like to give this fix a try, but will I have to solder the new caps on? YOU ROCK, btw.

  • No i had no sound or picture. But there have been a lot of people with slightly different problems that had led to the same solution.

  • BTW: It is only important to make sure the micro farad rating is the same. The voltage rating needs to be at least equivalent or higher. The originals were 35v and I replaced them with 50v. I also recommend to try to get ones that are rated at the same temperature, but you can prob fudge on this one.

  • EASY! I just replaced 6 CAPS on my Polaroid LCD that had the same problem and it works great now. Cost me a whopping $3!

    Thanks man!

  • Raider, this was just great. It realluy works people, just follow the directions and your 1000 tv will work again for 3.50. It has set in my spare room for about 3 months till I thought to look up some help. Kudos to you Raider

  • can anyone help me i have a flat screen 32 inch polaroid tv, i have one capacitor that is bad on the capacitor it says "10uf450v and it also says HEC" i can't not find this capacitor anywhere i have not a clue about anything capacitors so can someone plz tell me where i can find the same one? or find one that i can replace it with? thanks b4 hand to who ever replys

  • You can try to find a mom and pop shop for specialty electric stuff. They typically are able to get these odd things you are looking for.

  • Thank You for posting this! We had the exact same problem and my husband is fixing it this very minute. The tv is just 1 month away from being 2 years old and am happy to pay only $19.00 to get it back up and running. If it wasn't for the fact that we had to buy a sodering iron, it would have only been $3.00, but still well worth it. THANK YOU!

  • dude u rock. i just got a 32in hdlcd for free.. b/c of the same prob, powers on, but no pic. ima have to give this a try.. i'll let u know how it works out.

  • Ok, i was in this video before...and for the love of God..don't buy polaroid tv's...i had the backlight problem and instead of fixing it myself..two weeks later it comes back..back light fixed! YAY! but the moron who put it back together broke the channel buttons and now the channels keep flipping..no way to stop it...so i'm gonna call back and demand answers!

  • Hey Raider,

Just wanted to say thanks for the info. I had the same problem and assumed I would be throwing down a couple hundred to fix my TV. I'm not an electronics geek, but after watching your vids I figured why not give it a try. I also used the 35v and we are going on two weeks now with no issues. Polaroid never got back to me when I requested help in this matter. Thank You!

  • No problem. That is exactly why I posted these videos. Im glad to hear it worked out for you.

  • i'm not much of an electronics person, but when you go to radioshack you just ask for capacitors and the strength you want? there aren't any variations or anything?

  • Yes there are some differences. Try to get a good visual of the ones that I have in my hand in the beginning of the video. They are the ones that I took out. On the bottome portion they have 2 long wires that stick out a couple of inches. Try to get the same ones from your tv though. I needed 1000uf 10v but ended up having to get 35v instead as radioshack didnt have them. Its been around 9-10 months and I have had 0 problems with it.

  • Are the caps you used 105c?

Capacitors usually come in two heat tolerances 85c and 105c. For high power applications such as this you should use 105c caps; the 85c caps will fail, they may blot (get fat), leak out all over other components, and maybe even explode and **** the board.

  • I honestly have no Idea what you are talking about lol. I really know nothing about electronics. Unfortunately I have thrown the bags in the trash that the capacitors had come in. I thank you for sharing that information. If I get any more questions regarding the caps I will recomend that.

  • hey man, i0've got a tlm2626 26" do you think this gonna fix to seem the same problem here post? i think mine needs 25v or i have to buy th 35v beacuse mine is smaller, thank for your advis.

  • The 35v are the ones I used to replace the 10v. So long as they are the same type of capacitor I think it should work the same. I dont know for sure but it did work for mine.

  • I just hit the "Default settings" in the TV Menu and the scramble went away

  • Thanks for sharing

  • It worked and got my TV back on but I have scrambled pictures. Im not sure how to tackle that and if its related to this.

  • Okay its working now!! Thanks Raider, U are the Man!

  • Hmm well you didnt post what you did to get it to stop having the scrambled pics. If you could post that here so others that might have the same problem will know what to do. Was it just the reception or anything? Loose connection?

  • Thank you so much for this....where did you buy the replacement capacitors?

  • The ones that I had used were from Radio Shack. You can get them from any specialty electronic store but they are usually mom and pop shops that are closed on sundays.

  • This works. Thanks for the tip. To turn the TV on I had to unplug several times. I pulled the two 1000 uF 10V capacitors and replaced with the slightly bigger 35v model which had the same spacing. Now the TV works great. Thanks again.

  • i got a Polaroid flat screen 32 in lcd the blue light comes on and thats all it dose you try the power button and it dosent do anything unless you unplug it it that the same prob you had and ware do i get the compasiders i dont wana spend 800 on a new tv email me or msg me on here

  • The ones that I had used were from Radio Shack. You can get them from any specialty electronic store but they are usually mom and pop shops that are closed on sundays.

  • Hi

I have the Polaroid FLM 2632, and the board you worked on looks a bit different. There are two bigger capacitors (says LZM105oC(M) on them) and then 3 more separate capacitors grouped together which says 35V 1000uF.

Which do you recommend I replace? I heard you say the little triangles will pop out if the capacitor is bad. Can't see any of mine popped out though.

    Appreciate your response!

  • Good on you for making these video's for the many who have this problem, im just like you, i know a little here and there with electronics and solder iron skills. Question: My HDTV is a Philips unkown what year it is but i do have the same issue with blue light on with no picture. Im willing to take it apart and wanting your advice. Just reading so many forums ive read that it could be the fuse by the power input? But seeing this video id rather try your method. Thanks in advance

  • Well if you read a lot about that specific T.V. I would check that first. If you do pull it apart to try my method it would only take a minute to feel the capacitors to see if they were good or bad anyway.

  • thank you

  • i have a AKAI tv and i had token apart the tv and it has the same power supply as yours and i rember seeing some puffy caps i think that might be the problem with my tv but i have one question for you. before you "fixed" the tv when you powered it on did it show a red light then switch to green? then as normal the backlight came on but you saw no picture right ? PLS answer that for me b/c this tv i got for free and i would really like to use it!!

  • Im sorry I answered your question just after waking up. The light changed from red to blue and the picture nor any backlight came on. There have been quite a few different variations with the problem though. They all seem to boil down the the same thing... The caps. Best thing to do is feel the good ones and the bad ones. Its not hard to change them and they are very cheap. Good luck

  • Agreed, the problem isn't a "cheap tv", they're actually well made with good components, but the darn capacitors...well....

    At least they're cheap.

  • That is a good point at this point. When I had bought this TV I had checked customer reviews for all of the tv's within its price range and this was the best one. Now for brands like you suggest a lot of these different TV sets are made with the same parts. So you are not necessarily buying the name on the outside. And also the whole point of this set of videos is to let people know that they dont have to buy something else. They can spend less the 4 dollars instead of the 1k for a different set

  • cool but couldn't you just get a new HDTV a good known brand like samsung, sony, panasonic and sharp...

  • Like Raider2845 said, you are paying for the name brand, but the parts are the same parts all manufactures used. For example, I was looking at variuos Blue Ray players and found a magnavoz and a phillips, identical products, user guide, everything, the difference was only the price. I think this Polaroid TV is good but it has a defect that I think Polaroid should have recalled.
