You didn't take the easy way so you have my respect... you've got the energy and the sound so you can only get better.. All the best and keep up the good work, greetings from Belgium.
I really like your playing. although i dont know the original song i want to give you an advice: watch your timing, you tend to play way ahead of the click. especially in those faster parts. (that's no flaming guys, just some criticism.. we all want to improve, don't we? ;)
GREAT playing, man. You have King's sound down to a T. I've been playing since 10 years before you were born and I think you'd kick my ass in a slap-bass-off!
Yup, can tell it was fun to play :-) Lovely feel and groove playing to what is essentially a click - really like the way you stay in the pocket, but still sit back or push ahead when it needs it. Sweet tone, too. Yeah, it's all good :-)
@krg1965 Thanks! Yeah I realsed I left the click track on. I was initially trying to record the bass (hence the click) direct into logic and then mix it to achieve even better sound quality. But the camera mic did a pretty good job so I couldn't be bothered to sync up the audio with the video. Plus the bass sounds good through a real amp instead of logic's virtual ones.
Whey, it's been a long time coming MrMel0dy, really like the melody in this song, but I'll stick with the basics for now, maybe one day! Great stuff man, keep it coming :) See you in the Summer!
superb mate, its a very tough track to do. Its great to see that Level 42 are inspiring the next generation, I got into them through my dad and he's now 60 and I'm just over 30! You've got some great basses and equipment, only the things I can dream about at the moment, so treasure them and guard them with your life!!! Great video mate and nice tone on that JD
@jonannlou Thanks man. I am very fortunate because my dad was in a band and so he has a lot of equipment that he lets me use as if it was my own. He had to work very hard back in the day to get some of the old school stuff like the Akai sequencer and the sampler behind me in this very cluttered room (and to get his JD in 1984). It is all lovely stuff to keep and treasure but if you've seen the vid of Mark King for the Prague proms in his home studio a lot of stuff has been replaced by computers.
@MrMel0dy Wanna swap dads?!! My old man only has an old Vox 80's bass which was what I learned on - it weighed a ton! That Jaydee is what I've wanted for years, I'll one at some point, closest I've had is a Status Series 1, lovely piece of kit, but no Jaydee or Kingbass. Yeah, I've seen the Prague proms vid, brilliant! I've covered the most recent version of Pursuit Of Accidents (including mistakes!), take a look if you like mate! Keep on with the great playing
You did a great job with the drums. Perhaps you can add some keys as well? This track was the first ever record I bought back in 1982. It was on the B-side of Are You Hearing. I played this track over and over. Level-42 should go back to making these type of tracks again. I think the fans had enough of hearing the hits.
@Geeljasjes Thanks! Maybe I'll master it one day! I had to slow the original studio track down and play (on my keyboard) each different drum rhythm for the kick, snare, hi hat.....etc into logic. Took ages but I don't like playing along to the original tracks that already have the bass. Phil Gould did a awesome job drumming on the original track.

Brilliant job mate.
That's not an easy piece.
Your sound is fantastic.
How did you do the drums?
It's wonderful to see a young lad playing the right music.
