@n4v3al yes they can but in comparison to salt fish they must be taken over slowly and kept at light gravitys try 10 :20 and down ,,, i would try them at brackish first and let the gravity rise slowly ,,, keep them with scats and monos ect ect
egg spots isn't always a good way to sex mbuna's their color isn't always a sign aswell as they can colour up and down, the only 100% way is to vent them
Its the lights that he's using that is showing more of their true color. But i bet he paid good money for the bulbs. Aquarium lights are no joke, lol.
that is a BEAUTIFUL setup. i'm going to bite your stile a bit when i move my 50 juvies into my main tank with their mother, a Stuartgranti Aulonacara, and a golden redtail cat. and driftwood.
awsome aquarium. I always wanted to put sand in my cichlid aquarium just like yours instead of gravel but have no clue how difficult it is to clean it. Can you still use vacume to clean the sand?

anyone know how to tel the males form the females?
hockeyphuck 2 years ago
Venting them is the only sure fire way but usually females have a more solid yellow dorsal fin, males have more blue.
myswtsins 2 years ago
there should be little yellow spots or a single spot on the anal fin

It is actually much easier to syphon as as the **** just sits on the surface waiting to be hoovered up!
headshed 5 years ago
no, you dont have to vacuum sand. but you do have to worry about sand screwing up small filters.
