Our Canadian TV channels are always slow when something this unique happens, but will follow suit this August 30th, 2011 when our stations go digital.
3:00 - They may not be changing virtual channel numbers, but they will be shifting their signals to new frequencies.
Your TV has associated each virtual channel with a physical RF channel, which won't change automatically when the digital signals from those TV stations change frequencies. That's why the TV stations are telling you to re-scan after the transition is complete.
That is of course what I *meant* to say, but I stumbled over my own tongue trying to get it out.
Actually, in Columbus *none* of the stations actually changed locations. All the channels that terminated their analog signal kept their digital signal on their pre-transition channels and use PSIP to appear on their traditional channel numbers, so I think I technically got it right... somewhere along the line, anyway. ^^;
Here in Akron, Ohio, WJW Channel 8(Fox) moved from Channel 31 to Chanel 8(Yeah, stupid move, I know) and I had to rescan my TV. WOAC Channel 67 moved to Channel 47 when it became a Total Christian TV affiliate and changed its call letters to WRLM.

It's not on a carpet, it's on a dresser. The TV is a 19" widescreen INsignia.

Your TV has the same on-screen displays as mine but mine is a Curtis and I can see yours in an Insignia.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if they're the same TV on the inside. Insignia is just Best Buy's in-house brand.
