  • Thank you for a great video!

  • i've become so used to this craziness its now compulsory. thats great

  • the lyrics are like the AAA HHHHHHHHHHH

  • Ohh and its worth nothing that Sigur Rós does this alot (with the titles and lyrics), and its usually lost in literal translation and even contextual ones :(

  • Sigur Rós OFTEN play with words in their titles, I'm Icelandic and there is NO word that is "Glósóli", its literal translation is just "Glowing Sole" if you split it up... however, based on the context of the lyrics, you see its just a very clever title.. "Gló sól" means "glowing sun", and "Gló sóli" ,means "Glowing sole", and in the lyrics he says he puts on his shoes and set ups for a journey to find the sun. So yeah.. quite clever so "Glowing Sun" and "Glowing Sole" are both correct.

  • @Hotpink066 Again, incorrect. Check the band's website if you're in doubt. and click on 'lyrics' then scroll down to 'Glosoli' The translation is 'Glowing Sole' , not sun.

  • @Synith

It's pretty obvious that the band isn't talking about a sole of a shoe. The "official" website that you are talking about is independently operated, the creators only claim to have a close relationship with the band."Glowing Sun" as a translation fits more, but I think it's meant to be a bit ambigious. (contd)

  • You can look at the song in a literal sense: A person trapped in a dream that wakes up to see the Sun, or in a metaphorical sense where you have a depressed person "Hung in an anticlimax" who finds something or someone that gives their life meaning. If you go with the "someone" then you look at the "Glowing Sole" as "Glowing Soul". You might even interpret it as ones OWN spirit or glowing soul coming out of them, this is what makes their choice of words so clever imo.

  • @Orbital2 You've to be kidding. It's Sigur Ros' official website. The lyrics are correct, else you would have heard about it in an official message of some sort. Where are you getting Glowing Sun from? Seriously.

  • @Synith So you think the song is about the sole of a shoe? Seriously?

Jonsi has said (in the little that he says about songs) that the song is about a boy that wakes up and is looking for the sun which has disappeared only to find it in the end. Why would he say that "She is a glowing sole" or reference a glowing sole "coming out". There isn't even such a thing as a "glowing sole"

  • @Orbital2 Find me something which proves this comment. Official.

  • Thank you SO much for the translation! Even though it is as if I didn't need to know to words to understand the song. Beautiful how music works that way.

  • This was absolutely beautiful! And you made the picturemovie in the background like a pro. :)

It's much better than all the other crappy made "lyrics in video" movies on youtube. :P
