Theism is a belief in god or gods, and Athism is not. Evidence of Theism dates back thousands (tens of thousands) of years. However, evidence of sentience dates back millions. Even with a generous 90% error margin atheistic life predates theistic myth. So yes, Atheism does significantly predate Theism.

I love this video. I often thought about making a video much like this if I started making vids. It grinds my gears when people talk about atrocities committed in the name of atheism. Although I think this vid makes the point loud and clear, I think a lot of religious folk still wont get it, but every great video like this does make a difference!!

@mistajames3213 Yep. Atheism predates Theism, technically. The birth of religion occurred at some point in the shift from the Paleolithic age to the Neolithic age. And the first religion was animist, and later polytheist. Monotheism began in the Middle Age, likely in the Early Bronze age. I'm fuzzy on the dating, but the order is correct ;)
@compsciguy Well, atheism is not predicated on scientific knowledge. One can argue it is supported by such, but not based on it. There is some debate at what point religious beliefs emerged, but the idea is that they came from seemingly no religious beliefs to simplistic ones to more elaborate systems. One can be an atheist based on never having heard of/considering that such a thing as a God might exist. For example, someone who lived isolated from all possible "God" beliefs would be an atheist

For example, if I separated the known universe into three-dimensional (xyz) coordinates, and ask you what is within 1 light year of a given coordinate, you would have no idea. You just don't have enough information to form a belief. The proper response isn't to just make something up, the proper response is to say "I don't know,", and leave it at that.

Churches were burned in the areas controlled by the socialist republicans. At least 5000 catholic priests, bishops etc. murdered. Among them were usually also those who had no ties to either side.

First, I want you to understand what it would mean to kill in the name of atheism. To kill in the name of atheism is to attempt to make everyone around you an atheist. Stalin wanted that, he wanted to end all Theism and bring in Atheism. That is how you would kill in the name of atheism. He did that.

Theism is a belief in god or gods, and Athism is not. Evidence of Theism dates back thousands (tens of thousands) of years. However, evidence of sentience dates back millions. Even with a generous 90% error margin atheistic life predates theistic myth. So yes, Atheism does significantly predate Theism.

If it is to understand the thinking, the philosophical reasoning that drives the evil the video shows is carried out by humans on other humans, then we can not escape the underlying set of values that drive such action. I love this video. I often thought about making a video much like this if I started making vids. It grinds my gears when people talk about atrocities committed in the name of atheism. Although I think this vid makes the point loud and clear, I think a lot of religious folk still wont get it, but every great video like this does make a difference!!

In his book Anthony Beevor tells that the catholic church turned towards Franco mainly because of the acts by the leftist militias. Franco was seen as the lesser of two evils. Of course there were priests that were on Francos side from the start, but many of them had to ties to either side.

You've essentially got it right, but your presentation is awful. It implies it is something to be feared rather than something that is pathetic in it's goals. But you've got the right idea, just remember you want to encourage growth of ideas rather than hysteria. Come to an understanding: realise what your saying rather than having a fleeting idea and just saying it. But understand above all, that the way you present something is KEY to getting people to will a better world.

Albania declared itself to be the worlds first atheist state in 1960. In 1967 and 1976 there were campaigns aimed toward believers. It was even encoureged by the government. Priests, imams, nuns and other religious figures were imprisoned and killed.

@mistajames3213 Yep. Atheism predates Theism, technically. The birth of religion occurred at some point in the shift from the Paleolithic age to the Neolithic age. And the first religion was animist, and later polytheist. Monotheism began in the Middle Age, likely in the Early Bronze age. I'm fuzzy on the dating, but the order is correct ;)

There is some debate at what point religious beliefs emerged, but the idea is that they came from seemingly no religious beliefs to simplistic ones to more elaborate systems. One can be an atheist based on never having heard of/considering that such a thing as a God might exist. For example, someone who lived isolated from all possible "God" beliefs would be an atheist

For example, if I separated the known universe into three-dimensional (xyz) coordinates, and ask you what is within 1 light year of a given coordinate, you would have no idea. You just don't have enough information to form a belief. The proper response isn't to just make something up, the proper response is to say "I don't know,", and leave it at that.

It's a shame you had to change the music, Meet Your Master is a great song, I personally like the "Le Pig" mix.
I suspect we share similar sentiments, yet we see from opposite sides of the fence. I believe in God; better yet I know God. But knowing absolutely that God is real has not fundamentally changed me. In fact the only comfort it has brought me is knowing that there is life after death. I just may be the most reluctant Christian you'll ever meet. I envy blind faith, it is more pure.

As a child I experienced many things that forced me to acknowledge the existence of God. I would have preferred to find God through traditional means than by demonic attacks. I meant no disrespect and confess my approach was jaded and self-pitying. I don't often talk about God anymore and I scoff at stories of His miracles. But I know He's there, because I can still feel the darkness being held at bay, like a master holding onto the leash of a rapid dog. How do you see Allah?

Communism is athiesm, they felt religion kept people as humble peasents and they wanted the workers to unite and kick out the rich ruling class. Its funny because when it failed the greek orthodox church was still there. Stalin and hitler attacked poland and split it, stalin killed many in the gulags and professed himself to be athiest. You're right - most of the communist countries rejected religion and favoured atheism, but in communist countries people were not killed because they WERE ATHEISTS - they got killed because they opposed the communist authorities. Atheism is a lack of belief. Nobody kills in the name of a lack of belief

For instance in Soviet Union a lot of priests and other religious figures were sent to camps in Siberia. Only a few of them returned.
In Spain the communist republicans looted churches and killed priests.
There are examples of atheists committing crimes in based on religion.

No. The killings were systematicly aimed towards religious figures whether they were communists, anti-communists or whatever. Most of the priests in Spain for instance were not politically active in any way.

Churches were burned in the areas controlled by the socialist republicans. At least 5000 catholic priests, bishops etc. murdered. Among them were usually also those who had no ties to either side.
