  • Great job!!!! I want to do this too, however I can't get the backtrack to work. How did you download it?

  • Not bad :)

  • Not bad actually. It sounded pretty good, especially for a first time through.

  • Damn I was trying to get this figured out!!!!

  • OMFG, beautiful

  • i couldn't sight read like that to save my life. really good for a first try!

  • Hooray! Bal you are my hero! D':

  • mightyicecream is my hero!

  • Thumb down? .......... slap1

  • Something is really worng with the midi... I hear F# and F at the same time at the bass or something...

Other than that, great sight reading =D

  • great for raw footage. how many takes did you do? anyway u think you might want to help me out with something? i am looking for a triple ocarina, but maparam, focalink, and stl are way over my budget. i found one on ebay that looked like an stl for 260 with shipping.

I have enough money for that, but if i buy it I wont have much left. there is always the chance it will break, and I don't know if i might as well get a $100 guitar. Im afraid of breaking it I don't want to waste my $

  • If you have 260$ to spend on an ocarina then it would be a very bad idea to spend that on an STL. For 260$ you could easily get a top quality double ocarina. You won't need that last chamber on the triple all that often, I know I don't. I recommend Maparam or Focalink double alto C. You might even be able to afford a wooden ocarina with that money. Those only come in 12 holes though.

  • thanks a lot, I would prefer a quality ocarina with low range over an stl (i have a pendant from an unknown company and it sounds way better than my 12hole stl). I was just astounded by the range of the triple ocarina. I was considering focalink because it is great quality, and it is cheaper than maparam

How should I avoid breaking it if i do get it.

$260 is a lot of money, so do you know any quality doubles ~$200 or less?

  • focalink has four different double ocarinas. the ones that are below 200 bucks are the soprano g ($85), which has the highest pitch, and the alto c ($118), which has a lower range. both of them combined have the range of a triple. when you factor in shipping to the u.s., the sg would cost $109, and the ac would be about $150. you could contact the email address at the bottom of the site if you have any questions; he responds pretty quickly.

  • if you're worried about breaking it, make sure you keep your ocarinas on a flat, even surface whenever you aren't playing them. focalinks don't come with neckstraps, but they do have holes designed for straps. you could use the strap that came with your stl, or perhaps a shoelace. you could also use it as a wrist strap, which is what i did before i decided i didn't need it anymore.

  • ok so you said: if you're worried about breaking it, make sure you keep your ocarinas on a flat, even surface whenever you aren't playing them. focalinks don't come with neckstraps, but they do have holes designed for straps.

I just got my focalink double soprano g, and I see no holes for the neck strap... =( I am afraid of dropping it.

  • yes, i'm sorry, i was somewhat mistaken. my double ac came with a neckstrap hole, so i thought all of them would; i was surprised that i couldn't find one when i got my soprano g.

the best thing to remember is to hold it carefully, but confidently - the more afraid you are of dropping it, the more likely you are to actually drop it. just make sure to hold it properly when playing, put it in a safe spot away from table edges when not playing, and take a break if your fingers start to sweat.

  • if you're really concerned about dropping it, you might be able to tie a string through two of the fingerholes. if you do this, i suggest using the two largest holes, to prevent altering the pitch too much.

even if you do this, don't rely entirely on the string - always hold your oc as if there were no neckstrap at all. the strap is only a last resort in case it falls out of your hands.

  • dont worry just kep a tight grip and ull get used 2 holding it.. when ur done put it in its case... if there is one.. if not then improvise... like make one :P

  • Play over a soft surface, like your bed.

  • only one. Hence being a sight-reading challenge :D

  • as ForestsRequiem said, this was my first take xD cuz that was needed for the challenge!

anyway, I would just go for a focalink or maparam, using 260$ on STL is meh <__<
