It's not like the tarantula is being stabbed, I even use a paintbrush to move my aggressive t's so the anger isn't taken out on a finger rather than an object. Granted this one is being moved a lot, it's not causing harm, and the tarantula gets over it. I bet if you ate the tarantula at the end of the video that would upset people, but damn, I gotta say you have a fine specimen there!

That still does not make it ok, for food it is necessary but as a delicacy it is not necessity still they harm them far worse than someone simply tapping their T's legs to get it to come out.
A technique for getting Tarantulas transferred between cages is to poke it's legs to goad it into a certain direction.. you just seem to be starting up over nothing thats all.

Most people here do those things before these age groups.. so they have nothing to do with being an adult, some people generally act more mature than others though at similar ages... 21 is legally an adult and 17 is a teen.

Firstly Tarantulas DO NOT feel pain in the sense that we Humans do, they are aware if they have been bitten or attacked but prodding the spider is just going to irritate it, nothing more.. they have developed defensive responses to deal with these kinds of stressors.

@Priest007 All experienced Tarantula keepers know that terrestrial species should NOT be housed in tall containers/vivariums where they could fall even a foot and burst open their abdomens, which ends up killing them, I have even had an arboreal jumper drop a couple of feet and die.

do tarantulas pee ? x] im clueless . lol my friend had a tarantuala & brought it to school and freaked everyone out; it was awesome & her tarantula was nice. later that month she discovered it was a girl because it layed an egg, when she was gone one day the egg hatched and all the spiders were gone . Tarantuals can pee but most of their excreted waste looks like small lumps of crystallised urine and it is likely that , unless you know what you are looking for , you will miss seeing it.
That said they dont do that very often and a tarantula is a very efficient user of liquids.
Well i tend to just clean as and when its needed and definetly remove the shedded skin as and when it is shed - this is to stop any mites and parasites reinfecting the Tarantula.
Most of the time for large prey the animal itself just dumps the remains away from the burrow which helps cleaning no end.

Gotta love all the PETA-esque morons flipping out and wishing harm on someone over poking a stick near an animal with no emotions or feelings. I wonder if they weep when they see someone stepping on grass or eating a burger.
If its cruel to poke a stick in its den to get a short Youtube video, then shouldn't it be cruel to even own a spider? Afterall you "stress it out" everytime you open the lid to its cage to do maintenance/feed it. Oh the cruelty of it all. :'(

We butcher all kinds of animals for our food and put them through grotesque hormone injections to ensure that we get the 'best' quality meat.
I just came on this video with the simple intention of checking out someones beautiful Tarantula not to get into some stupid PETA-esque arguement that means nothing.

I i waited for her to come out it would be late at night she would return to her burrow..And i would have to get her out of it anyways... So keep your dam mouth shut and if you dont like what i do .. Thanks for the show she is a beauty.Its not cruel to poke around sometimes its good to make sure they still have that aggression rather than a tamed tarantula.I keep a lot too but not got a king baboon yet hard to get where i am.

cut the man some fucking slack....tarantulas, king baboon in particular are very defensive and rugged T's but they are incredibly beautiful (i should know keeping baboons). This man is just trying to show how attractive they are. If you check out his other vids you would see that he knows a lot about T's and certainly knows how to treat em

do tarantulas pee ? x] im clueless . lol my friend had a tarantuala & brought it to school and freaked everyone out; it was awesome & her tarantula was nice. later that month she discovered it was a girl because it layed an egg, when she was gone one day the egg hatched and all the spiders were gone . Tarantuals can pee but most of their excreted waste looks like small lumps of crystallised urine and it is likely that , unless you know what you are looking for , you will miss seeing it.
That said they dont do that very often and a tarantula is a very efficient user of liquids.

Well i tend to just clean as and when its needed and definetly remove the shedded skin as and when it is shed - this is to stop any mites and parasites reinfecting the Tarantula.
Most of the time for large prey the animal itself just dumps the remains away from the burrow which helps cleaning no end.
I clean up seriously about every 3 months or so.
