  • Comment removed

  • hey...... you said createx is the best for beginners, but i heard it clogs up easily with some needles..... my new airbrush nozzle is 0.35mm across the diameter would i have to thin the paint??

  • Could you recommend any airbrush paints that would be safe to use for body painting? For instance- temporary tattoos?

  • hi!!! thanks for this tips... i just want to ask if its ok to use urethane clear coat over automotive enamels?

  • they make enamel thats thinner than gloss you can dilute it with spirits but its messy you can also use a cheap gun type spray and a tyre compressor its does work! thanks

  • why don't they make already thinned paints? For airbrushes not in a spray can.

  • why don't they make already thinned paints?

  • Hi! I am trying to find out which paints I can use for plastic model kits. Which airbrush paints or other types of paints will work best with plastic models. Preferably types that dry quickly, leave a smooth surface and types which won't have bad efects on the plastic like eating it or suftening/weakening the plastic. Ones that also mix colours together easy to create new colours and also shines and cleans easy.

  • Hi. I want to paint my helmet with airbrush but I my country there is no brands of airbrushing. Plzzzz tell me what paints I can use to paint helmet

  • you give good advise and your a good artist =]

  • In the home brew Paint Reducer Recipe... You mention glass cleaner, then say Fantastik works best. Does Fantastik make a glass cleaner? What is the main ingredient that we are after in using a glass cleaner? 'Looks like I'm not the only one confused. :o)

  • In the home brew Paint Reducer Recipe... You mention glass cleaner, then say Fantastik works best. Does Fantastik make a glass cleaner? What is the main ingredient that we are after in using a glass cleaner?

  • I am going to paint my first guitar, and I want to make some reducer using your recipe. Question is, I was looking for Fantastic Glass cleaner, and can only find Fantastic all purpose cleaner, and it has a light purple tinge to it, or I can get a more clear version with bleach. When I went to look for Windex, it blue. can you elaborate a bit on mixing your reducer? Also canI use Createx and Auto Air on the same project?

    Thanks

    Bob

  • @iceman22st Lol I went to HEB to look for the same ingredients and found nothing clear everything had color. I was like WTF. lol

  • Hello. Can you pleace help me. I want to buy airbrush colors, but i dont know what to buy. I need colors for painting on paiper, t-shirts, metal and plastics. (but i want those colors which will dry without heating element, those colors which can dry at room temperature, because i will work in my room) What colors you can advise me tobuy?

     Best regards July.

  • So what do you think of the wicked line made by the same company that makes createx compared to AA?

  • Can i reduce my water based AutoAir colours with regular water or do i have to buy or make my own reduser. What works best ? :)

  • @TheConceptPainter reducer wotks best but you could just use something cheap or make you own (;

  • @hanzithaking Tanks :)

  • acrylic?

  • An auotmotive paint is reduced 1:1 do you have to reduce the paint more because you your using it in a airbrush or is the same reduction ok to use?

  • we're painting graphics on the side of our aluminum boat...what paint do you think would work best using an airbrush and do we need a clear coat?

  • So can you use auto air paint on, lets say a xbox 360 shell or any type of plastic. And if so, you would still use the plastic adhesive primer, right? As well as dupli color clear coat for plastic, right?

  • when i used water to reduce my createx it didnt spray right . i like the reducer thats available for it . i found it worked so much better . i rather use urethanes . i personally like it a lot better .

  • U USE THE SAME AIRBRUSH FOR CARS,SHIRTS,MURAL,ETC.RIGHT? U JUST CHANGE THE TYPE OF PAINT

  • can i airbrush my car ? or what paint do i need?

  • It would better to airbrush something to show how it work.

    Only bla bla bla.

    Practice not bla bla bla.

  • @BRONGOHORST believe it or not, some people are totally clueless about paints...

  • Is it possible to like airbrush more than just a pencil painting? because I think I love airbrush painting but not so if with pencil.. don't know if I should buy an Airbrush Kit or not. hmm.. help?

  • @messos sounds like you want a #2

  • @aleno1987 what's #2?

  • Can you use automotive paint? and what is a clear coat?

  • hi where can i get an airbrush+compressor kit from

  • what are good paints for plastics like models and nerf guns and other plastics like that

  • pause at 1:16

  • man really thank you for your videos... they are very helpfull.

  • so true!

started 3 months ago and I always go into airbrushtricks videos to get inspired!

  • what about de-canted paint i.e. paint extracted from a spraycan.. would that be safe to use in an airbrush?

  • Keep the videos rolling I appreciate the tips and information. Question: How do I prep a mailbox for airbrushing? I have watched video after video and they all begin AFTER the initial prep. This has got to be one of the most important steps or else your paint will eventually peel off the metal.

  • model train paints work beautiful in airbrushes

  • Most airbrushes can handle many types of paints, including Enamel modeling paint like Testors, Tamyia, Gunze and Humbrol. They just need to be thinned with the appropriate thinner to a consistency just a little thinner than milk.

  • Is AutoAir the same as using Createx (Opaque, Pearlized or Transparent)? I am doing helmets and want that show room finish that you achieved with the urban camo post. when I say the same, is it easy to use?

  • @roy816tube Yeah it's kinda close. It's water based acrylic and AA is water based enamel. The shine is from the clearcoat not the paint.

  • informative vids but you need to tone down the music on some and use a local mic

  • where could i buy the air brush paint????

  • @alucarderick12 almost any hobby store. in my town its hobby lobby

  • so if i buy one createx bottle i need to mix the whole thing with ur paint thinner ingredients?

  • Thanks for the tips.

  • hey i have a question can you use like the testors paint cause its in the airbrush section, idk if so i most likely need to thin it right?

  • obv has a commercial interest here - thats why he has so many unopened bottles of this brand of paint. So, how much where you paid for your shitty adverts

  • hey, i'm interested in doin some shirt stuff, what paint should i use bro?

kick ass videos! keep em' comin'

    5✰!!

  • does create x require a mask to or does someone just need a dust mask

  • @barron175 Its water based, and i dont used a mask, usally only solvent based paint need a mask.

  • @Matthington10

We still need to use a mask with water-based paints because all paints contain particles. ;-)

  • the intro music sounds like porno music lol

  • Dude's just to back up up what TD states here about the Toxicity of paints.my Father was a shit hot spray painter, but he was old school and didn't wear a mask until his "last" ten years. He died at 54 of chemical induced dementia along with all sorts of weird illness's. He never drank, smoked, took drugs and was very fit.He loved to paint cars. You have to remember that a lot of paint companies started as biowarefare companies in world war II,like DuPont.I'm not saying don't do it, just WEAR A MASK

  • Where do you buy the individul bottles of Kustom Shop paint? I can easily find what I need at Createx, but all I find for Kustom Shop are kits and other colors of just basecoats, metalics/pearls, and other items rather than just what I want and see in the videos, or they're not marked as the premixed for airbrushing.

  • Hi, great video. I am going to buy a load of auto air in the near future. I have a question regarding the auto air though. On the createx/autoair website the colour ranges are, semi opaque, transparent etc.. Is the semi opaque their regular colours? like the graphic colours from house of kolor, or will i be able to see through them after a few coats? thanks

  • @ylanglang1 the semi-0paque colours are more or less the plain colours as they will cover other colours almost straight away.

  • so if you wanted to do t shirts, what paint would be the best

  • @graffkingsNBC createx would be your best bet mate. there is also createx wicked colours but unless your a pro and need that extra detail i wouldnt bother as they are more expensive

  • this is great information, but my experience is that the Spectratex paints are much easier to work with. They all spray the same with no adjusting and really are set up for airbrushing right from the bottle. Is this guy some paid endorser - he certainly has some Billy Mayes qualties. Additionally, he says it's not worth the hassle to use different paints. It's not much hassle if you just get whatever paint you want to spray reduced to the equal viscosity of 2% milk. good spam info though.

  • kk thanks man but one problem im in canada and we dont have that paint lol so what are my choices i was thinking about useing car modle paint and just use spray paint i have no idea please help :)

  • AWESOME VIDEO INFORMATION THAT I COULDN'T FIND ANYWHERE ELSE I received two Iwata Airbrushes for my birthday a HP-A and a Hi-Line HP-CH . I had no idea what i was doing until i found your videos Thanks to you and you tube i am having a great time and have finished a couple of practice panels in the first couple of days with out the hassle of months of tinkering thanks again

  • what are the best guns i just bought a iwata a and iwata b but im not sure if the any good for cars

  • Great video.

I am just starting out and nearly gave up today because I cannot get my paint through the airbrush. NOBODY told me that you have to use special paint until now in your basics guide.

    More basic information is needed!

How do you prepair the surfaces? E.g. a guitar / computer / motorbike will already have paint on it. Do you have remove it down to base metal? If so what about primer?

    Painting Plastics, glass?

  • hey can i reduce auto air paints with the formula that you showed??? thanks

  • I need a video that literally just tells me the things I need to buy to get started, like I dont get the compressors and stuff - if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

  • @sprayart94

    Compressor

Air Regulator: This will regulate the airpressure. If you get the right regulator, the pressure should always be the same between the airbursh gun and the regulator port.

    From the Art Store:

Paint (my local store carries createx)

Airbrush Pads (big paper pads for practicing etc)

Paint Brushes (Just in case of detailing or other things)

From online or wherever you prefer:

Airbrush (iwatta seems to be one of the top brands)

    Hope this helps

  • what typ of paint should i use for t sherts?

  • @poplittelskid1 just use your basic createx color, and heatset it when you're done, it looks good on fabric and last a long time.

  • @poplittelskid1 Createx is good.

  • im buying skim milk and dying it colors haha

  • HOW BOT IF U DRINK 2% MILK HAHAHA

  • maybe i should just paint with skim milk :P

  • for what its worth, i just take a rattle can and spray some of the contents into a jar and then run that through my airbrush. am i harming my brush at all with this? it seems to flow ok and give good color. BTW love the tutorials, i have watched almost every one of them.

  • Whats the ratio of the home brew (for createx) to paint? is it just 1 : 1?

  • createx -sucks

    auto air -ok

    kustom shop -never tried

    house of kolor -sick

aero color -killer detail (paints made for 0,15mm nozles)

  • is testors water based is ok to use im a model kit painter

  • Im a model builder also but I use gunze acrylics to paint my models. I never tried testors paints but all those paints that are made for painting scale models dont have as fine pigments as airbrush paints. You can feel the deference If you have a 0,2 mm or 0,15 mm airbrush.

  • this is great ! thnx for helping people out. your doing a great job

  • Although he said not to use anything other than Airbrush Paint And this is for the most true However As a beginner I do fine Art on Card and paper and Gouache is definitely the best non Airbrush specific paint as it has such a high pigment content (don't go with cheap stuff)

  • Thanks for all the tips, your videos are great for a beginner like me!

  • A really good help for noobs like me ! Thanks pal.

  • what's the urethane dissolvent? is tinner? is it recommendable for clean the airbrush? thanks men..

  • I keep hearing glass cleaner but what exactly is it we use washing up liquid and can we get it in the uk

  • hi toni,

I'm a hobbiest.. now exploring into painting R/C helicopter canopy.

I'm thinking of trying auto-air by cretex..

    1. would my regular airbrush be able to take this paint.. I was told that it will bite and damage the rubber O ring in the airbrush..

    2. i presume i'll need the reducer as well.. do i need any special cleaner to clean my brush or regular soap and water will do..

    thanks

    quest

  • thanks but the music in the back ground is very annoying just your voice would be much better to listen and understand ,..im dutch maybe thats why..

  • I'm dutch too, don't have a problem with the music :P turn up your volume would help

  • hee dat werkt goed zeg !! bedankt ;-)

  • Can all three types of paint be used for automotive projects, then cleared with urethane? Thank you.

  • You can spray anything that will fit through the nozzle. Bad to tell newbies that they cannot spray anything other than airbrush paint. You misled them before 60 seconds was up. Better to say YES and then advise them that they will be happier to start with airbrush paint such as Golden, Com Art, Holbein, or other brand because it is premixed to flow properly.

  • I was thinking the same thing....He was right about one thing. Createx is "cheap" not price.....cheap as in inconsistent weak pigment.

Personally, I have found E'Tac private stock to be the best multi-surface paint for my needs

  • In all fairness, I think Createx is a GREAT T-shirt paint. It is a great paint for what it was made for. A t-shirt. You paint it, it gets worn and washed and the pigment doesn't have to last for 100 years as in a fine art painting.

I painted a shirt with Createx red back in like '95 and I swear to you, 10 years of washing later, and it was still there. And Createx will sit on a shelf indefinitely and not settle out like other paint and go bad. But.....

  • I would never use it for anything that needed to last a long time. And the ETAC stuff may well be much better overall ref spraying and lightfastness. I'm just not a t-shirt or automotive painter. I like ETAC FX500 for its erasability and lack of horrid odor. Com Art stinks but it's a good illustration paint. Golden makes kick-ass airbrush paint and Holbein is top notch. Mostly for fine art and illustration but I'm sure they make textile too.

  • and... any vid saying "everything you need to know" probably needs to be taken with a grain or two of salt. hehehhe

I wish I could decide on what brand I wanted to stick with. Golden has an incredible hansa yellow that is just awesome. But I like the erasability of Com Art. I don't like the opaqueness of ETAC because I like to do glazing w/transparent. So.... I just have them all right now.

  • Thanks for the care...suddenly realized why sometimes things wouldn't work out; too odd mixing of my own making. This is the way to do it...great.

By the way; don't answer to JFONAGER; he's not into airbrush but needs a new car; waste of time thing.

  • Hey there

My car have some rock chips and some are a little rusty , i would like to repair them with my airbrush. Can i find a "auto air" color wheel online? so i can match my cars color code. Or even better make a tutorial. Thx

  • Well first off you cant just repair them with your airbrush. You HAVE to sand out the rust!! If you dont the rust can continue to eat away at the metal under the paint. At which point you have wasted your time.

Second after you've gotten the rust off, you need to apply a primer, then a primer sealer, and then your base color. In your case one to match the rest of the car. Then a clear coat.

To get the right color just go to the dealership for that make of car. They can tell you which color
