  • but one problem if your holding it in front of you what if the shooter goes for your legs? otherwise great invention!

  • this is a great idea!!!!

  • this is a great idea!!!

  • i think that this a really great idea!!!!!

  • This makes sense! Why not add a passive level of protection to my kid's backpack. The pre-made panel fits right in the backpack he already loves and then it's there, just in case.

  • and the wall street journal!(even better)

  • hey i saw this in the washingtontimes!

  • keep the guns...get rid of the bullsh it idea that teachers and students treat eachother with 100% kindness and as equals. school shootings happen because of the school system environment where kids are forced to be made fun of and ridiculed for years.fix the people, they are broken...by doing that you solve the problem. trust me on all this..school shootings are something i know much about.

  • Very intelligible response, people are people and that is that. No amount of money on this earth affords another to treat another as less... verbally or physically, we are of the same flesh.

  • A great point. Personally, There should be someone hearing what the children say to each other and if it is verbal abuse they stop it. And also metal detectors

  • wow, another shooting, how awful. The video says 1 a week, and it seems to be coming true.

  • no, thats total of 422 dead from all the shootings combined in north america since 1999. That averages to about 1 death every week from school shootings since 1999. Not one shooting every week.

  • Sure... keep those gun laws, if you create bulletproof back packs its ok. For the love of god...

  • Great video, great idea. I heard there where 3 school shootings over the last 3 weeks, and a police officer died at one. Having an extra bit of protection sounds like the right idea.

  • This is a pretty good idea because some protection is better than no protection. And about the gun laws idea. You see the thing is, I wish gun laws would work to for the safety of all of us except the problem is criminals don't obey those laws to begin with. If they need to get something done for some reason they're probably going to find a way to get the things they need even if it's illegal or not sold openly. So the only people gun laws are probably hurting are the law abiding people.

  • I think schools the way schools are is just terrible no one respects the teachers they spit on them and push them around.I think bringing jesus back, disspline, and a dress code back will make schools better.

  • This is a great idea, giving people a chance to survive

  • I got an idea: Get rid of the guns!!

    Seriously, this is absolute madness.

  • It's sad it's come to this but if I was still in school I would probably buy one.

  • good idea.. next will be the decade of timothy mcveighs, since now everyone can have accesible protection the only other means of destruction from an enemy vs. prey perspective is to utilize explosives.. anyone see where im heading with my idea ? maybe its not the best one, but an idea nonetheless.

  • Excellent idea. If all you disbeleivers were in a situation where somebody was shooting at you I think you would appreciate havng this item with you and you would also be crying for your mommy's. Get real people, this is not a safe world we live in. Offense is THE best defense.

  • Eh? I've been carrying a level II Kevlar panel in my backpack for years now.

  • 97% could have been saved.... FROM THE FIRST SHOT. The killer would have just shot them where the backpack wouldn't have protected them.

  • While on the surface this seems like a great idea, in reality I don't think it has very much usefulness. If they put 2 rounds in the chest of a kid and realize the bullets are doing nothing the next one will be in the head. Statistically, these could actually increase your kid's chance of getting a fatal wound if the guy shoots in the head because the torso shots aren't effective if you look at it that way.

Still, I think this is a good step in the right direction.

  • The problem with thinking that would save you is that most fatalities in school shootings occur in the classroom since that would be where most kids would be and logically where shooters would go, most schools are afraid of kids bringing weapons in the classroom so they bad backpacks in the classroom.

It would be much better if they just had a dedicated police force in schools since they are specifically trained for such an event and the cost per parent would also be lower.

  • PlayerXT,

Fuck that that shit. We have enough power tripping police, thank you very much.

Do you even know how much your "specially trained school police force" would cost to put at each school? How about putting in gun safety classes and teaching kids to understand and respect guns and gun safety instead of blowing money on a bunch of "think of the children!" knee jerk ideas.

  • Police in schools = JAIL. Enough with these dumb ass bandaid fixes. WTF are kids doing with guns any way?! STRICTER GUN LAWS is the only soultion.

  • "Most fatalities happen in the classrooms."\

    ?

Eric and Dylan massacred their school cafeteria and library. Cho got damn lucky(for himself, I guess) to get as many people as he did.

Shooters tend to go for large masses, like at a lunch, instead of going to an individual classroom. Besides, what are the chances they would kill that many people in the classroom? Most of the shooters suck at aiming. Cho practiced.

  • I don't know if you've ever had a gun pointed at you but 'fighting back' isn't exactly in the cards.

  • Well, if kids are gonna start carrying body armor to school, I'll have to get my kids bigger guns.

  • So I'm supposed to take a bullet rather than being able to fight back? Okay. This problem would solve itself with either armed teachers/administrators or heaven forbid students.

Funny though that we didn't have any significant level of gun violence in schools until after guns were banned from them.

  • this make it easier for your avarage joe it make his own bullet proof.

  • I was reading on a forum about hunting when a shooting in a church came up. Someone mentioned you can't conseal carry a weapon in a church. Now wait a minute. If someone thinks they need to protect themselves from others with a loaded weapon in a house of God, something is very wrong. It adds alot of value to Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine. Right here is another product like the closet bomb shelter, or the skyscraper parachute which were showed in the documentary.

  • Completely sickening.

If you want to reduce shooting, reduce guns. "Guns are self defence" is the reason there are so many of them. It is also the reason that someone can easily get hold of one when they turn mental.

It makes no difference if the owner is stable and responsible. People make mistakes. Someone leaves a cabinet unlocked. Someone turns their back and a child grabs it. Someone thinks a friend is stable and they're not.

  • Not true. Countries that have strict gun control do not have a reduction in crime, in fact in many cases crime goes up because the people can't defend themselves. In all of these cases of massacre one person has a gun and the others don't, they're sitting ducks. One clear example is at a university where a guy tried what Cho did, and 2 students had guns themselves and stopped him. Disarming citizens just increases tyranny.

  • Facts please!

  • The number of killings in de USA is 4 times higher than in the Netherlands, we have a strict gun control. The number of shootings at schools by studends is Europa since 1999 was 3 ...... in de USA 328.

  • Guns don't kill people; people kill people; a gun, knife, frying pan, club, or just about any other weapon just provides a "tool" to use.

  • Yes, but I have to think that the gun helps. It's not like I could just hate you to death with my evil stare. How, exactly, would any of the recent major school shootings have racked up anywhere near the body count that they did if guns were banned? You think a small Asian kid would take out 32 people with a frying pan?

  • When I make a mistake with my children, there's no milk for their breakfast. I am human. People make mistakes with guns. When a gun owner makes a mistake someone dies.

Wake up. Other countries don't have your shooting problems because they don't have a culture of "everyone has a gun for self defence". Guns aren't for self defence. They're for killing =(

  • perhaps, I should have said it more this way, stop wondering how to DEAL with the next shooting, start thinking how to PREVENT the next shooting.

  • Perhaps, instead of preparing kids to deal with the next incident of violence we should spend our resources and energy on preventing the next incident. We don't need more weapons or protections of weapons, but more conflict resolution tools, more systems changes in the administration and more after school programs to keep kids away from the violence they are exposed to each day.

  • awesome idea

  • This is the equivalent of paranoia propaganda actions like "Duck and Cover" and building a fallout shelter, or more recently, moves like the Patriot Act. If people are honestly this afraid to send their kids to school without a friggin' flak jacket, then they could just home-school them...which would demand effort on the parents' part--something that is quite obviously lacking nowadays, where parents look for blanket solutions such as this nonsense.

  • very well said.

  • ok u block ur face and chest, then they shoot u in ur knee caps. then they kick the back pack off u and blow ur head off. face it, teres nothing ur gonna be able to do short of wearing a vest and kevlar helmet.

  • If someone is this paranoid then why not just home-school the kids?

  • i live in the UK where one of these arnt really needed

if i lived in the states i could asure you all of my kids would have this back pack

brilliant invention i hope its globaly a sucsess

to add this video has made it to are major news company "Sky" i cant post the link but you can search Sky News

  • school shootings are so rare.

  • link mychildspack. 328 since 1999 is rare?

  • creatz, the abc news story that linked me to this video mentions a company that sells a knife-proofed school blazer in the UK.

  • I was watching this on the news on TV and wanted to go on the internet to find more and found this. Good Idea but allot of people don't carry there backpacks around with them. A Bulletproof 6 star binder would be very useful tho.

  • awesome idea. Really, I bet some people are going to act like your acting on a fear...but its a great idea. I want my child to have one, because if all that pack does is carry books his whole school experience, that will be enough. However, if a gunman does come in, at least he will have a better chance than a bunch of books in the bag.

  • Bulletproof backpacks? WTF? That's THE gayest invention ever. The kids could get shot in the legs if they are covering themselves, which is only on the chest area.

  • Police only wear "vests" which cover only the vitals (chest area)

  • One flaw I immediately figured out was if one were to be shot in the head

  • No. The gayest invention ever is the OWL optical wallet light, followed closely by the fish pen.

  • Also the articles I read only mentioned the name of your product, not your company name. The first 4 pages of a google/froogle search for "my childs backpack" did not give a link to your company... you should try to do something about that if you can. I'm assuming "you" are the proprietor.

  • Woah I want one! Too bad there are no school shootings here in Europe..

  • actually, there are

  • How many in the past 8 year? I believe 3!

  • lmao

  • only in america.....

  • haha... yeah..

  • Out of this world. I can imagine these kind of adds in South Africa, Nigeria or maybe the northern bit of Israel. But when your country has gone like this, isn't it time to move to a safer place... or reconsider a few basic things about how your society works ?

  • The problem is who you have in charge of the school system, and their agenda. They chased God out of school, brought in "diversity" and other complete crap. Why is anyone surprised at the results? Kids are force-fed liberal agendas and people are just shocked with the results. It is not a gun problem, it is a corrupted society problem. Remember when kids were clean-cut, said prayers (OMG!) at school, had a mom and a dad at home... not a whole lot of school shootings going on then.

  • rbeck are you saying "diversity" is the problem in school?? SO the darkies are the problem huh?

  • Anyone who considers diversity "complete crap" is slightly touched at best and an unchecked bigot at worst. How about the killers who heard your God whispering to them while they did their business? You wanna feed religion to your children, fine, feed it to them at home, on your time. Not the public's.

  • Excellent points. This is what the third-world brings to you. Btw Choosey....you really should investigate about Cho and the kind of "poems" his black literature professor Nicky Giovanni wrote. No wonder he went berserk....integration's great isn't it.

  • you are a moron. Please kill yourself you racist pile of shit.

  • amen, thats so true, no wonder why the school,is all messed up. bring God back people.

  • Let me refer to you a name that disproves your argument: Charles Whitman.

While I'm at it, rbeckvid, do you believe everything you are told? Do you also repeat what you hear without question? Take a real good look out there... just take a good hard look at the world, man... and get back to me. Tell me if you really do believe all that buzzword nonsense you heard somebody else spouting.

  • It wouldn't be America if you couldn't profit off the deaths of children.

  • do you say the same to bike helmet inventors or smoke detector inventors? This isn't a cure, only a tool to help in keeping my kids safe.

  • Capitalism at its best. But I know i can get a bike helmet for my kid less than $20 and a smoke detector that protects my whole family for less than $10. A decent backpack at EMS might run you $40. Good point akugyaku. Otherwise it would be called, "my pack" and half the price.

  • You should put a link to your website with the description... not everyone is patient enought to wait till the end of the video to see your home page address.

  • Only thing that bothers me about bullet proof backpacks is the paranoia... well that and we're not allowed to have backpacks at my school. You get detention if you have one.

  • Thanks for the comment. We are going to offer other options; totebags, bookbinders, mesh bags etc. It's just another safety device, are you paranoid about wearing your bicycle helmet?

  • Just for comparison, several times more people die in bicycle accidents per year than have in the entire time between Columbine and now, and the number of injuries is in the tens of thousands per year, I believe. Slightly different scale (ok, maybe not "slightly"), likelihood to happen, and amount of risk

  • That's the way it was at my school last year. We had to keep ours in our lockers just because we "could be hiding a weapon" inside our bags. Pure trash. They let the girls carry nearly backpack-size purses, though.... anyways, nice vid!

  • This is out of this world! I'm going to sponsor my kid's baseball league! With all of the spectator violence it's just a matter of time...

  • GREAT MOVIE!
