@dromycatcher Actually, one woman showing her parts can stimulate a thousand men(and all women know this)...it's nature. Men are not the cause, but a part of a situation. Control the source, you've stopped the issue. To expect all men to look at these parts and not react is like putting meat out on a porch expecting wildlife not to want it.You can only control yourself, not everyone else in the entire world.Take responsibility for your own actions; men are humans...just like you.
@dromycatcher you are absolutely right. I've even experienced this. I would PURPOSELY wear non revealing clothes in high school and STILL perverted guys would harass me. Not a lot of guys, but still a few that were not so well in the head.
Why in french movies from 60's Arabs do speak Russian? I remember some scene from ''Fantomas'' when arab sheik is speaking Russian too. Now, poor idiots don't make these errors because France is full of muscums... :(
The "belly dance" costume that we think of today was created by Hollywood. In fact, so was the idea that all people in the Middle East are either fundamentalist Muslims (there are Christians and Jews all over the place!) who make women cover up completely, or libidinous perverts who keep women as naked slaves and sleep with a new one every night. No region on earth is homogeneous and stereotypes should always be avoided.
@TheNicneven plus there are places where it's just safer for the women to cover completely. I'd rather cover up and be more modest than invite trouble, ya know?
@missartist123 I have been in situations where I felt really uncomfortable, so I know what you're saying. I wish there were more positive and realistic representations of Muslim women in the West. It makes me sad.
it's really men who needs to cover up to remind themselves and society they have the duty and need to exercise the discipline to control themselves and not to cause any trouble
i dont understand. if theyre muslims why are they watching a woman belly dancing with no burka? id thought muslims were supposed to be "modest". and also since the moors conqured spain for cunturies would that mean that they also had this kind of tradition?
@lilguy1171 Why do you think they are muslims? Not all Arabs are muslims. Different countries in the Middle East have different traditions. Wearing Burkas was not required in Egypt at the time. Not required in Egypt now either, come to think of it. Plenty of Egyptians are not Muslims, but Christians. Go look up Copts. :)
@lilguy1171 Dude These Are Actors In A Movie. And Yes Their Muslims .. And I'm A Muslims Watching It Because It's Art. Egyptians Invinted Belly Dancing 4000 Years Ago .. It's In Our Blood! Yes Muslims Are Required To Be Modest ..But We're NOt Perfect =D ... Christians Are Required To Do Lots oF Things THat U Dont Do Too! ... Chill This Is Art .. We're Being Intertained.
@SimonStudioAnalysis well mohammad had taste and liked the beautifull girls , someone like the old ugly wicked whitch Golda meir is not on his list ... anyway you are ugly and you look like her ( like golda )
Dont arabs see how stupid they look in movies like this? In each and every hollywood movie arab women are cheap disposable and the men are all horny mindless idiots.
I hope you'll bear that remark in mind the next you're watching an american movie, a musical for instance.
Women, no matter where they're from, have always been considered as desirable persons, or unfortunaltely sometimes, desirable objects, and artists have always wanted to expose how desirable women can be ...
is it racist ?is it sexist ? is it offensive ? sometimes, yes.
is it THAT wrong ? no. the only thing to remember is beauty itself.
@miriamuSama Actually, it’s called a Burnoose or Selham (I did a bit of research since I posted the question). This is a traditional garment worn by Imaighen/Berbers, Arabs and many others from the ‘middle-east’. Its usually worn over a long garment such as a Moroccan hooded jellaba or a white Saharan gandora but in this case-- over a ‘raqs sharki’ costume. Furthermore, a kaftan is a long tunic with sleeves, buttons and/or emblements. A Burnoose/Selham is more of a robe.
@miriamuSama I believe the umbrella term would then be robe. Robe is to shoe as Selham is to high heel. Would yoy argue that a high heel could be called a flat? A Selham is a Kaftan? A Selham is characterized by the hood/cowl/ and the fact that it is an over garment. A kaftan is characterized by the the embellishments/buttons/sleeves and it's usually tunic-- not an over garment. You wouldn't look a pair of 7inch stilettos and argue that it could also be called a flat? Would you?
@miriamuSama I grew up around 'stuff' as well. That doesn't mean I have the answer to everything. Next time you're not sure about an answer... don't reply to the question.

@4dsdancing
A selham is a type of kaftan.
First there was kaftan and then they made some changes and called it selhem.
I was always taught it was like this, ever since i was a child.
It;s like a shoe.
You say,; ok it's a shoe, but a flat one or a high heeled one?
miriamuSama 1 year ago
@miriamuSama I believe the umbrella term would then be robe. Robe is to shoe as Selham is to high heel. Would yoy argue that a high heel could be called a flat? A Selham is a Kaftan? A Selham is characterized by the hood/cowl/ and the fact that it is an over garment. A kaftan is characterized by the the embellishments/buttons/sleeves and it's usually tunic-- not an over garment. @4dsdancing
Your last Q to me is stupid.
Look at a pair of 7 inch stilletos and call em flat?
What are you, a retard?
A Kaftan and Selhem are garments, both of em.
First there was only a kaftan, since peeps still dednt knew something like a robe to wrap yourself up/in whatever.
They made some changes over the years (!!!) , and the selhem was born.
Im not arguing anymore with some one who had to do 'research' to come up with a so called answer.
I grew up with this stuff.
Bye,!
