  • it sounds great. having always drove pre 75 chevys ive never messed will fuel injection..just picked up a 87 vette with 83k original miles that needs a motor rebuilt (owner let it run out of oil) so im hoping to learn how to unlock performance out the tbis while still passing emissions which are strict in california

  • I posted a new video of the car at idle to show its lope, not much of one but I wanted a car that wouldn't stall ha ha. Also the engine has been properly broken in so it runs much better now.

  • Its so hard to find a good running 350 tpi iroc let alone cheap I got so lucky buying mine for 1000 bucks and it looks and runs good

  • @RunninCummins Yea ever since I installed a coolant TB byass it has. But it's random. Usually it's nice and lopey. I didn't let the motor heat up before the video though so it was cold. I'm going to do a new video very soon with a warm engine so you can hear it lope.

    hey man awesome car, i have a couple of questions, im 18 dont know much about purchasing or setting up to get a new engine. but anyways. i have a 1990 camaro rs v6 and I NEED MORE POWER lmao. would i be able to drop a v8 in without any problems? and lastly where do you go to have some one install it professionally? is that just something you can take to any shop?

  • @privateryan245 You would be better off selling the V6 and getting a V8 instead of trying to do a full conversion plus one day the IROC-z will be a collector and the V6 wanna-be will never be. Good Luck.

  • @privateryan245 first question, yes, any small block chevy v8 pre 87 will bolt right in. second, a lot of shops out there will do motor swaps, but you want to read reviews and such to find a good one. a lot of people will rip you off. if you want to have fun cars to drive id advise starting to learn most of the work youself...i started out with an el camino just messing around trying to learn how to maintain my own car and ended up becoming a mechanic...you never know what will happen.

    Not to complicated really. A TPI crate motor from SDPC2000.com. 52mm TB, tune from PCMforless, 24lb injectores, fuel pressure reg., 700R4 W/2400 stall, trans cooler, factory Borg W 9 bolt 7.75" rear 3.27 gears, factory posi, tower strut, Eibach sport kit.

  • im trying to make a smog legal 350 any tips/ ideas? i have an rs with a 305 i bought the upper/lower manifold, harness, cpu, intake, etc for the conversion from tbi to tpi but i want to make it a 350 and have no idea where to start

    I actually didn't pass emmision as it has such low miles. I just registered it in a non emmision county. However I did take the test 4 times. My smog #'s cut in half each time after I drove a couple hundred miles between tests. I'm sure now I would pass. But I'm not positive. Take a look at the Edelbrock tubular exhaust with air and try to get a regular cat conv. I went with a high flow Dynomax and that may be the reason I struggled through emmisions. Goodluck.

  • love the car man. i have an 89 rs that needs a good restoration, then when i'm done im turnin around and sellin it all stock. then gonna buy maybe an 88 or 89 iroc with the 5.7. with the 350's do you have to format the engine to handle a better cam like yours?

  • "too sweet", I have a 1990 IROC with the 305tpi. "YES" that 305 has to go. what crate engine would you suggest. I'm thinking about staying with my 305 heads, 2.5 exhaust, with a spintech muffler. Please help a fellow Iroc'er.

  • I have the same intake, The runners are different from 88 on maybe you had the wrong year runners. They will Work.

  • Ram Jet 350 PFI GM Performance Parts Crate Engine Assembly 12499120 comes with wiring harness and has similar power.

  • I used my factory TPI harness because my car came from the factory with a 350. But any TPI factory wires work.

  • The hot cam specs are: Hydraulic Roller Camshaft Kit LT1/LT4 Hot Cam Kit (218/228, .525/.525)

  • I have not dyno'd yet or raced it.

  • i have a 92 rs 25th anniversery it came with a 3.1 v6 but it through a rod. i want to install a 350 tpi motor in it but i cant find one for the life of me. where did you buy yours? and did it come with the cpu and wiring harness??

  • absolutely beautiful this is my dream car currently i have a dodge(i love my dodge)but i would turn around and sell or trade it instantly if i could find a iroc blue camaro with a factory 350tpi t tops and the grey leather and cloth interior these cars are amazing and and if lowered properly supposably they handle like there riding on rails

  • @ryanbeemus its idiots like u that make us Americans look bad. If you want quality, 3rd gen camaros are far from it. Squeak's, rattles, shitty plastic'y interiors are just a few of the things that plague 80's and '90s GM products. Great performance vehicles, great motors, trannies and rear ends....but most everything else is a joke compared to anything Nissan, BMW, Lexus produced then.

  • Vtec is a good design but its not what you think it is. Bottom line, rice is rice and I dont care if your rice machine did 8 second 1/4 miles, it will always sound like a sewing machine and men dont drive sewing machines. Your car looks ridiculous and sounds worse.

  • @Artyfil Not really sure since I put in an engine at the same time. But Edelbrock claims the runners add 20HP.

  • The only problem I had with the edelbrock headers is the plug for cylinder 1 is virtually impossible to reach... i had to install the plug on my car with a "modified" socket (a deep plug socket with 2 sides ground off). it worked out well.

  • WRONG ,WRONG,WRONG the TPI edlebrock intake does fit with SLP runners i just did on my 85 vette .

  • @peavy400 Remember all of you that I'm not using a stock TPI intake.  It's an upgraded by Edelbrock that came with the crate motor. I am using a stock TPI upper plenum though. It didn't fit.

  • what do you mean by "the SLP runners wont fit the stock TPI"????? cause online it says it will and there are 2 diff. types depending on year model?

    85-88 for 1 set of SLP runners and

    89-92 for the other set of SLP runners

  • I have been running 24# inj. on this motor. Oops. This motor has to have 30#. I'll post another vid once this gets done and the chip gets retuned for the bigger injectors.

  • no its impossible to turn a 305 into a 350 however serveral of the parts from a 350 will fit the 305.

  • They are shorter and offer more high RPM HP than the stock ones. SLP claims 20hp. Not sure about how much Edel. adds. I'm starting to like the way the Edel's look.
