  • wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how rieu immerses himself in the culture of where he is performing.this is a much loved piece in the motherland.

  • Thanks for posting, great piece of muzak!

  • 素晴らしい(^^ブラボー!!音楽に国境ありません!被災者に元気をあげたい聴かせたいです。

  • John Sheahan is a great composer. The Marino Waltz will challenge any classical piece and win every time. Real music is not only for the elite it is for everyone. three piece suit or not

  • Great spectacle - but I can't help wondering what Luke Kelly would have thought of Rieu!

  • @nyu6697 well rieu was thinking of luke when he came up with that hair! john looks to be haveing the time of his life! "a simple lad from marino who landed on his feet" as he said to me

also try marino casino by john if you like this you will love that!

  • Amazing. music is the universal language.

  • Fantastic can't wait to see Andre....

  • "John Sheahan of The Dubliners Folk Group joins André Rieu on stage". NO, Rieu is joining John!!!!

  • Great fun, Michael. Thanks.

  • full of wonder

  • I could listen to this over and over again for the rest of my life! Wonderful!

  • magic, great to hear some decent music for a change

  • @jason48452 too damn right

  • Oh my GOD,.....that was SIMPLY WONDERFUL.....that is REAL joy. Thank you clarebannerman for posting it.

  • Love the way that John is bemused by André's showman antics.. lol

  • God bless Ireland

  • read my lips... this tune will still be played all over the world over a century.

    Thanks John

  • Simply The Best!!!!!!

  • My orchestra was the first to play this as a cd

it was the first ever made !

  • I'm learning how to play violin, and I want to learn this song. If I attacked the violin they way this lad does I wouldnt have a string left by the end of the day. This is a terrible version of the song.

Like the sawing a log analog ... LOL

  • @JonathanAnon

It's a folk composition by a traditional fiddler (the grey haired guy with the beard). If you want to play violin by rules and regulations stay well clear of folk compositions like this.

  • @helenaZZZZirlandaise

Too late Helena, I've already learned it.. John Sheehan was actually classically trained, but I know what you're saying about most trad players .

  • @JonathanAnon

Good for you :o). I really love this tune.

  • @helenaZZZZirlandaise Ended up coming back to this video after a few drinks.. (thanks for posting by the way, clarebannerman) Trying to learn The Irish Washerwoman now. bit more difficult.. Do you play Helena, or have you got any videos up.. ? I've a few guitar videos up, but not brave enough to put up the violin yet.. Big difference between 18 years (playing guitar) and 8 months (playing violin). :-)

  • Rieu plays violin as if sawing a log. Does not matter if Strauss or folk music like this Marino waltz. The original Dubliners' version is wonderful, I can not understand how John Sheahon accepted playing with him.

  • Please listen the authentic version from the Dubliners, and then compare. Rieu kills all the swing in this beautiful waltz. Rieu has no idea of swing or waltz at all.

  • God John never ceases to amaze me.

  • thanks for the information

  • My surname is MARINO. Who is the Marino Waltz?

  • Marino is a place in Dublin.

  • this Rieu destroys the good music!!!!!

  • Goof stuff!

But you left out the "Irish Washerwoman" they did very shortly after!

  • What year does this date from?

  • It must be heard playing for an audiance like that, clapping at a random beat praying that it be the right one.

  • Great performance.

I have been in Marino. It deserves a waltz in its honor.

    great post

  • J'aime c'ette valse! :)

  • nice, but does this guy play any virtuoso pieces? or has he ever? just wondering.

  • was that a sarcastic comment? he's a folk musician

  • no, im sorry i idn't mean to offend anybody.

i just heard of this guy and i was just wondering. i didnt know he was a folk musician sorry.

  • no probs mate

  • ok cool. thanks

  • ud have to be american

  • Thanks for posting, where is this from?

  • Was this composed by a member of The Dubliners? It's stunning. As good as if not better than Strauss!

  • Yes, it was actually composed by john sheahon who is playin with andre rieu on the left, with the white hair.

It's an incredible honor for andre rieu to be able to play with a real fiddler who plays with pure emotion as you can read from his face and not the static show-off choppy violin he plays himself :)

  • The best of the Dutch and the Irish.....Happy St. Paddy's day everyone!

  • Superb!!

  • Simply great.

  • Beautiful waltz tune.Very popular.Thank you for posting this bannerman. One of the best waltz tunes ever composed.Brilliant.
