I'm not sure on the dell monitors. There should be comparable models that are cheaper (the fully adjustable stand is what makes this model more expensive).

I'd definitely recommend this monitor if you like to use it in portrait mode, if not, you can get a cheaper monitor with a standard stand.

Unfortunately I haven't tried any others out. I haven't experience any lag on this monitor. You can probably get a cheaper monitor than this one if you don't care for the fully adjustable stand (which is why this particular model is so pricey).

It does come with a disc that has the software for auto rotation (turn the monitor, and it will automatically change on your desktop), but I couldn't get it running on my computer (vista 32 bit).

Can you please give me advise. I'm going to buy this monitor, but, i saw model 2343BW which is 23" 16:9, but with 2048 x 1152 resolution. In your opinion, i get smaller monitor with cut-off edges (horizontal due to 16:9) but with higher resolution. What's your opinion? I have Radeon HD4850. And one more question, does it have swivel mechanism? To turn arround monitor when the bazel is static. Thanx!

I would go for the monitor with the better/higher resolution. Note that the higher the resolution, the better graphics card you'll need to run games that that high resolution (maxed out, for example).

My monitor does come with a stand that swivels, but I'm not sure if the 2343bw is the same.

How do you rotate the screen? Is there a locking mechanism that you have to press on the back before you can move it up and rotate it?

You have to take a pin out of the back (of the stand) in order to start moving it. You can then turn it clockwise. It will lock by itself and won't fall back into the horizontal position.

How do you find the viewing angles for this monitor? Is there a really noticeable color or darkness shift when slightly moving your head?

In horizontal mode: The colour shift isn't so bad going from side to side, but it's definitely noticable going from up and down.

I like playing my retro games on it, as well as PS3 connectivity (I also watch blu-rays on it). I can have my retro game on and something else on the side (FAQ, movie, web, etc.), for when the game gets to a slow part (RPG's for example).

You have to change the settings on your computer (in my case, I have to open up Catalyst (my video card settings program) and switch the settings from landscape to portrait mode. I believe the monitor comes with software that will automatically change the settings when you move the monitor, but I couldn't get it to work on my computer.

It has settings similar to a TV (contrast, colour, brightness, etc.). By calibrating the monitor, you can get a better picture than the default settings.

While doing my research for what monitor to buy, I was surprised to see very little video coverage of this monitor online as well. The monitor is indeed well built from what I've encountered. Samsung makes great monitors.

I bought the 2443 for the following:

- 1080p

- Matte screen to reduce glare

- fully adjustable stand (stands designed for big monitors are ridiously expensive). I was looking to get a Dell 24" with a seperate stand that would have cost way more than...

- Samsung quality (I'm using one of their netbooks which is also rock solid)
