  • 1:56 i think he meant 5000 lb, not 50000 lb

  • My ls 400 kept up with a lot of the new Lexus. I hit 140mph and it was scary lol

  • WHAT A FUCKIN MACHINE .....

  • OH, the wipers.....

  • I have a lexus ls400 in black...top end model and everything works,air-con,sat-nav,all the electric seats,windows,traction control,etc.Just luv it

  • @sanjayj1432 sell it and get a bmw trust me u will never get as much power and comfort than in a bmw BMW BE.MY.WIFE

  • @MrPoooopro i will never do that!!!!its a dream machine for me,man

  • @MrPoooopro BMW's are not known for comfort. Trust Me. the 7 series seats are okay, but the rear middle seat is horrible.

  • @weinerschnitzelboy BMW's aren't renowned for their reliability, stick with Lexus, luxury at a Toyota price.

  • @MrPoooopro Do you know what BMW stands for?, Bring More Wrenches, Bill Me Whatever. Serioulsly mate, do dome research, and speak to some mechanics and they will all tell you Toyota/Lexus makes great cars, much better than the rubbish BMW and Mercedes make.

  • What's with this XJ6? Or XJR? They better then a 7 series or S class? Doubt it... Otherwise I would have seen one on the road

  • ''And even a Jaguar XJ6...''

    Chauvinist pig! ;)

  • the Lexus Ls 400 is amazing. very good car

  • Lexus helped eliminate Jaguar and now they have the best selling Luxury SUV in America.

  • Too bad automakers are now going backwards and making everything optional extras.

  • I like his smugness :)

  • wow it's quiet to be going over 140.

  • mine has 209,000 and is still like new on a m94! Amazing car makes me feel special every time i drive it!

  • I own a 1997 ls400 and I mean for the past couple of years it had never let me Downa

  • I loved the shape of the ls400 in the 90s.

  • Willson is such a pointless paedophile twat. Why does he still get air-time? And why have the police not banged him up yet???

  • at 150mph...at averaged 15mpg...lol. thats like electric car rape.

  • lol im like this guys getting in the wrong side of the car

  • "thats not bad in 8 yrs flat" please lexus erases Jaguar, and beats Mercedes for luxury, and price. Its far superior to any of the other luxury brands simply because it was able to make a name for itself and be popular within its first year, especially here in the US.

  • @RellupNorth Than you have NEVER driven a Merc. I work at Lexus and i have severel Mercs myself and severel realy new ones in the family. The actual LS600 Hybrid is a fat ass, dull and cheaply made "thing". It's not a car for me, a car in my definition has to be more than a vehicle that can go from A-B. Lexus never would get the Finish a Merc has to offer. Oh and you don't want to know what happens, when you need some new Brake Discs...you can buy the whole brake system of a Merc for that price

  • @NFreund ur right, from act 03 to 08 lexus and toyota was slacking. same w honda. but mercedes have nowhere near as good a fit and finish as a lex. our 98 ml300 may not be top of the line, but it certainly is bottom quality for top dollar maintenance, and ps u won't see a lexus breaking down after 150000 miles ;)

  • @lexilaron Well, the ML isn't a real merc...it's got the star, but thats all. Build Quality is more then bad and between 1996 and 2004 Mercedes was realy bad. Show me a Lexus that has done 600-700k km and still drive, feels solid and looks nice ;) I'm not talking about the ML, A- or B-Class. E-Class and S-Class...even if they sometimes got a little messy electronics, the will never look used. Btw, Mercedes cuts build quality for the US since the late 80's...

  • @NFreund show me any car w tht many miles in tht condition an well talk O.o

  • @lexilaron come to germany, spain, france or any other european country, where Mercs are used as Taxis.

  • @NFreund come to america where we use crown vics. whether u use smart cars as taxis, bicycles, or mercedes, that is irrelevant to me. apparently not all mercedes are "real" mercedes, but every lexus is a "real lexus"

  • I love the shape of the old big body cars ...ls400 s420 740i

  • I just bought a 1998 LS400 a few weeks ago and I have to agree with everything the presenter says. This really IS a special car.

  • wow wow wow

  • Great job Lexus .

  • My 97 ls400 is the best most reliable smoothest running car I have ever owned thanks Toyota I love this car.

  • Damn right my lexus is the shit

  • I really want a LS400 or LS430. :)

  • @Toyotacamry1993 what's wrong with your 1993 camry?

  • Comment removed

  • @GoodyearBandit nothing. But i like the lexus better. :)

  • @Toyotacamry1993 hahahhaha

  • I have always loved Jaguars and my dad had a 1995 V12 Xjs! I loved that car I loved to drive it! Unforunately though it did have alot of problems and it was always need ing to be repaired.

  • I love how Jaguar is hailed as the be all end all by everyone , but in reality they are one of the most unreliable , and expensive to maintain luxury brands. Good luck finding parts. Stylish and classy yes, but I wouldn't buy one over a Lexus or BMW. That goes for back in the 90s or today.

  • The first lexus gs300 1993 was to be a jaguar, but they couldn't afford to build it! not alot of people know that! Love lexus gs300 mark 1 and lexus ls400's. a friend of mine breaks cars and he say's nothing comes close to a lexus not even a merc w124!

  • LS400 has been my favorite lexus for a long time, and it almost always will be

  • Friend of my has the LS400 from 1998. Still it is as smooth as no other. We have an 04 Audi a6 ourself but that lexus feels smoother and you dont feel anything. Just the most relaxed driving car around. It doesnt floath like a rolls royce wich feels like a boat, but it floaths and is sharp! And with 280 hp its FAST! I love that car. For around 7 to 8.000 you can get one. Too bad it like fuel too much...

  • Comment removed

  • and jaguar is long gone now

  • I owned a 1990 Lexus LS400. From my experience, especially going up hill often, it does a pretty good job with that. Acceleration was pretty good also. The best looking Luxury Sedan when introduced back in 1989.

  • Being a GS400 owner and LS400 LS430 owner I mean seriously why you think I've only bought that line LEXUS by the way to my fellow Brits Jaguar can't be compared to LEXUS in reliability and durability my LS400 98 has 345678K miles on it had a jag Xtype tranny issues threw it away had an S500 you can't compare them it might not have the gadgets as the S500 but I'll take reliability, quality over looks or gadget

  • Was it policy on this show to profess preference for the Jag/Land Rover candidate in any comparison?

  • What are you talking about?

  • Lexus LS rules! LX570 is nice too :D i hate it when those stupid brits go on and on about Jaguar, nowadays they are great cars but back then it wasnt much... Audi wasnt as hot as it is now either but there was an A8 in late 90's... why dont they mention that?

  • You have some kind of favoritism toward Lexus.

  • Lexus over dodge any day

    LFA > Viper

  • To me, you are comparing an apple with an orange. LFA and Viper are about the same.

  • LS400. The car that changed verything

  • I dont think the Lexus LS400 changed everything. It may have changed whatever it changed in that whatever it was involved with. And change, because "changing is easy in a world of change", can include many things.

  • When japaneses arrives with there cars in the late seventies, that was the rise of reliables vehicules.

  • fagmiller5000 stop trolling douche. Lexus cars are amazing. mirikin' car nuthugger

  • this car is really fast rwd 5.9 0-60 i luv this car i got it free from my boss last year with 20k mi

  • Now Hyundai is trying to get on this segment...

  • quentin willson doesn't seem to have been in a w140 bercedes benz .. :)

  • lexus brag about never having to sell a replacement gearbox, and i can quite believe it as i have had 2 over 7 years, neither failing an mot, or any replacement part. they are known as bullet proof. anyone who runs them down has never owned one. i had a jag 4.0, and a bmw 740i, both 98 models, but i would put my 94 ls 400 up against them anyday. the jag, well rubbish, never buy one again, and the bmw, i could never really fall in love with. the LS 400 is also much lighter, and not bad on fuel.

  • @brianprime

The original LS400 had many problems that for some reason aren't much advertised because of this bullshit "reliability myth". Sure, the LS400 was pretty reliable but it is far from perfect. The LS400 has known suspension problems (needs replacements) around 140,000 miles and the transmission was prone to failing on early models. Furthermore, the speedometers have a software glitch that seems to occur at around 170,000/200,000 miles. Lexus is far from perfect. They're overrated.

  • @jakemiller5000 far from bullshit, as i said, had one for 7 years without problem, and googling it i cant find the problems you talk about. they are underated, suspension is great for a big car, speedo never a problem. the problem you talk about is the lights in the centre consol. there is a guy doing 170 mph in an ubnrestricted one, and kick down at over 110 mph. not that its needed but still impresive for a big car. if the car was rubbish i wouldnt have just bought another one.

  • @brianprime

Google "2004-2006 Lexus GS300/350 engine fires" - and you won't find anything or not much since only bad news about non-Lexus cars is allowed on the Internet. After all, the charade of "Lexus [overrated] reliability" has to be kept up. You'll find some owner complaints on Lexus forums regarding those spontaneous engine fires - they took place. And the LS400 isn't perfect. It suffers with age and these problems are documented here in the US where I love.

  • @jakemiller5000 Wow it must be great to be so knowledgeable about everything, every car, every car company, every model, etc..You should be the editor of car and driver or road and track. or even better,, youshould be president of the USA since you seem to be a jack of all trades, knowing very little about very much..We are all entitled toour opinions but you are so hateful and nasty to peole whose views differ from yours it makes us all hate you and think you are a nasty unhappy soul

  • @brianprime

Also, I have owned numerous cars, mainly from Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth and Pontiac and I've had no or little problems with them. They've been very reliable despite being "1980s Mopar products". The worst car I have ever owned was my ex-1997 Camry. What a POS. Electrical and mechanical failures all over the place. My brother had a 1996 4Runner which gave him hell (engine sludge on three occasions, three transmission failures and two breakdowns in two years). Toyota? Overrated.

  • @jakemiller5000 pontiac, now there's a car, had a pontiac firebird, and a mustang mac1,aaahhh, memories, you could never fall asleep in one of those, i had straight throughs on both, and as there were very few in the uk, and petrol so dear, i was treated like royalty, everyone wanted a drive. i have had over 40 cars, and when i want one i get one, i just wait till cheap enough to buy, the only one to evade me that i have wanted since being a kid is a corvette. but yanks are far and few between.

  • @brianprime

What kind of Corvette do you want? You can get some decent examples of the C4 and C5 for little money here. Usually these are high mileage examples but the Corvette is one of the best products that GM made and still makes. The engines are durable and reliable.

  • @jakemiller5000 the Z06 will do nicely, 44,000 pounds here, even the C5 is 22,000 pounds. nothings cheap here. yes they are good, they ruined the pontiac and the mustang's but the corvettes still looks good. we have the chrysler 300C over here which is quite popular, but with over 5 pound a gallon of fuel the ls400 is about the biggest you get.

  • @brianprime

I prefer Mopar muscle and pony cars. I'm a Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth/Imperial guy at heart. I don't really care much for Ford or GM. You should maybe look into a classic Dodge Charger R/T. The '68s were the best iteration of that model. Next up, a '72 Dodge Challenger in white, just like in the movie Vanishing Point. Also, I don't think fuel costs are a consideration when you buy such a car. Just sell your LS400 and buy a proper car!!! ;-)

  • @jakemiller5000 my ex has a plymouth, the only one in this country i have ever seen, only once seen a dodge viper in the flesh, believe me, if i was loaded, which you would have to be to own a dodge viper in this country, i would buy one. we are not like the states, our average cc is 1.6. lol. the LS is about as big as you get,, apart from a jag, which i hate. unfortunately you lucky americans have no worrys about fuel costs, in this country at record prices, its major. 1.26 per litre. 2 dollars

  • @brianprime

Even so, an old-school, even a new, American muscle car is PURE FUN. Nobody really cares about the fuel economy when you have such a car. Also, if you can afford an LS400, which isn't that efficient either, you can easily afford to pay the fuel costs of a muscle car. A muscle car is not a daily driver. It's a car to drive and enjoy for the weekend or special moments. Lexus to me is just pure BORINGNESS. No character, heritage or history and no motorsport heritage. Lexus = BLAND.

  • @jakemiller5000 mate, lets face it, you just hate japs, even if they were the best car in the world you would hate them, they are among the best cars on the road, and compete with bmw for reliability, no comparison fuel wise between an ls400 and an american muscle car, the ls does 24 around town, a muscle car does about 8. yes, i would take the muscle car anyday, but they are rare here, and i need a daily driver. i have had over 40 cars, the ls400 is a very good car.

  • @brianprime

I don't hate Japanese cars at all. I just hate Toyota and overpriced Toyota (Lexus). Why? Because they are so overrated.

  • @jakemiller5000 agreed

ls400 is between luxury and just a standard sedan... gutless(probably due to auto trand), overweight, shitty fuel economy, but dammit i like the power headrests they have. and the reliability....... i would never buy a toyota/lexus, i will stick with mitsu, audi/VW , benz, subaru, and nissan/infinti

  • @miniimoto95

Your comment is like a breath of fresh air here! Thanks!

  • @jakemiller5000 If according to you Toyota and Lexus are overrated, then why does Toyota and Lexus always do well in the JD Power long term reliability surveys? And why are the vast majority of Toyota/Lexus owners very happy with their cars? And why does every mechanic you speak to, always speak highly of Toyota?

  • @InspectorMontelbano1

"Every" Toyota and overpriced Toyota owner? Did you just say 'every"? Sorry to destroy your dream world in which Toyota and overpriced Toyota are perfect, but take a look at some Toyota and expensive Toyota forums and read all about the problems they have. I know owners from every brand who are happy and unhappy with their cars. Cars are complex machines and shit happens. This myth that Toyota and expensive Toyota are problem-free is nothing more but a silly myth. Period.

  • @eleonik76

Lexus: the most overrated appliance (not even a car!) on the market. Lexus is so fucking lame. Go hump your goat so she'll give you some of that famous Bulgarian yogurt. Asshole.

  • @jakemiller5000 No, Jake you are wrong, very wrong, Lexus are not overrated cars at all, if anything Lexus cars are underrated. And if Lexus are so Lame", in your opinion, why do they always score highly in owner satisfaction surveys?. And another thing, you still see many LS400'S around that are close to 20 years old, with high mileages and yet they are still going strong. I have heard nothing but praise for the superb V8 Toyota designed for the Lexus LS400.

  • @InspectorMontelbano1 Thank you for explaining the details to Jakemiller5000, he clearly does not understand the whole Lexus thing. Also you're right about the V8 Toyota engine, I've been working and using them for nearly 5 years now, my latest creation in the garage taking its shape is a BMW E46 Touring with a Twin Turbo Lexus V8 Engine, best of both worlds!

  • What if I tell you that a Lexus IS-F can outrun a BMW M3? That the Lexus IS-F looks better and is built with the best of everything. That the Lexus IS-F interior lighting is way more advanced then M3 Lighting. That the Lexus IS-F interior looks much more classy and elegant than a BMW M3 interior.

  • @eleonik76

For a Lexus you need money and taste? Wrong. If you're going to buy an overpriced Toyota you need to be seriously retarded. Lexus? Zero brand cache and status, not to mention zero prestige. What else does Lexus lack? Motorsport participation (Rolex Series is a fucking joke), zero innovation, zero global appeal, no classic cars (and no overpriced Toyota will ever become a classic either), no customization available in terms of features or even engines. Lexus is so fucking lame.

  • Isn't Toyota over-priced themselves? Aren't 50% of automobiles out there overpriced?

  • @jakemiller5000 I'm sure Toyota has made some lemons, the thing is, Toyota seems to get it right most of the time. That said, every mechanic I have spoken to, ALL speak highly of Toyota. And I hate to destroy your "dream world", but I am not exaggerating here when I say that virtually every Toyota/Lexus owner I have spoken to, or have read about, are absolutely delighted with their cars.

  • i had an ls400 1996, didn't treat it well, bought it for going to and from work, i also have a 2001 bmw 740i which i take my family out in, i didn't service or change the oil in that lexus, and it never let me down, it would destroy my bmw on performance, but the only silly thing i got rid of it for was the starter motor. right between the v of the engine and under the intake manifold, as it was winter i sold it for peanuts. miss it so much i am now getting a 1994 model.

  • I <3 my LS, especially when there's marvin gaye in the system like in the video

  • now its 11 years later, LS400 is the best JD Rating for 15 years, didnt fail one year from this video made.

  • 02:20 "Satellite Navigation" as "standard"?! 1997??

    Rewind. Pause. Sold.

  • @ucheucheuche only in a america we get the down graded versions of the japanese cars

  • @ucheucheuche My Celsior had it in 1993 as well! Hurray for Lexus!

  • @ucheucheuche i have the ls400 and the nav sucks cause there is no update so there is no canada in it

  • The Lexus LS400 or the GS300? Or Both?

  • I so want a Lexus LS400 now

  • When people bash these cars saying they're knock off MBs or rebadged Toyotas they're simply showing their insecurities to everyone else. The LS400 looks nothing like a Benz, the LS430 looks somewhat like an S Class W140 down the side but thats it. Only an idiot could mistake a Lexus for a Benz and vice versa. And to all ignorant Americans knocking the Lexus as rebadged look at GM....

  • What´s the music at 2:45 ?

  • @FunYl

    Prince-Let's Go Crazy

  • @steven455 Thanx bro ;)

  • Why don't you people just buy whatever you like better rather than stir up huge arguments that take up the entire comments section?

  • lmao at 3:18,lets hope he run out of runway b4 he run out of gas/fuel! lmfao

  • lexus is much better than a mercedes s class and the bmw 7 series and the jag much faster more lexuries i own one myself and think its dat da americans made a much better car than da germans and the english LEXUS THE BEST....

  • @MrPoooopro

Your comment is an insightful as your name: total SHIT. Lexus is an overrated and overhyped Toyota that simply blows. There's not a single exciting Lexus out there in terms of design. Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar have created and still create DESIGN MASTERPIECES that SHIT ALL OVER that overpriced Toyota crap called Lexus. Only an idiot will buy a Lexus thinking he owns a true luxury car. Lexus= zero history and heritage, zero motorsport and zero innovation when compared to their rivals.

  • american trucks r the shit though!!!!!!!!thats something americans can make is a beasty ass truck ...... but they cars rrrrrrr shit!!!!!! pretty bodies but aint worth jack!!!!!!! although i do cut for the old skools whips and i do mean old like donks and box chevys ....and droppaz 454 motors etc!!!!!!!! new cars hell no!!!!! miss me with that

  • and them ls400's r not ugly that car is very nice and has a beautiful body its all about how u fix it up check out pics on em in google ull see wat im talking bout .....thumbs up to whoever in that ls600 that biyach got recliners in the bak and back massage seats i mean the 750 li has that in the front but not in every seat just the passenger and driver .....maybe the new ones do i dont know but the 08's dont .....

  • i actually own a ls400 2000 model the only problem i had with it was a problem with alot of the lexus ....the power steering leaks for whatever reason but other than that ls400's r beast!!!!! u get what u pay for!!!!!!! u show me an american luxury car that rides good and ill sho u a lexus that rides great ...american cars to me are getting better every year but i cant fuck with em no mo specially cadillacs them shitz is raggadey y u think to resale one off a carlot the price drop so quick...

  • 1997 owner and amen

  • May be to you but not to me,

For me jaguar is the ugliest car on the road, but once again it is personal thing, and I know some will disagree with me,

But one think for sure I will never buy one and don"t think because I can"t afford one,

Just simply because I do not like it

  • To me, modern Jaguars look among the best out there. I have no experience with european cars, but I don't think their as bad as people made them to be. I have experience with Japanese cars and they are as worst as anything out there. Personally, I think all cars aren't very reliable because we have yet to master them.

  • Ha Ha you mast be joking about Jaguar,

It is the worst unreliable peace of Shit wold has seen, but for sure in Russia !!! Lexus is the grate car and holds it's value not like jaguar,

  • @slavik97 Lexus is a great car. i love it. but i bought a Jaguar because it looks millions and millions times better than a Lexus

  • @slavik97 Actually Jaguar was rated #1 in the world in JD Power's reliability survey last year so your comment is obsolete now. The last Jaguars to be unreliable were in '94 & even then they werent that bad. Jaguars from the 80s were unreliable but trust me, Jaguaars nowadays are far more reliable than any German automaker!

  • Ofcourse its going to have issues with competeting against Companies that have been around much longer.. I believe Lexus's are Great cars! The History & Heritage starts from when they were first introduced.. they redefined the Word Luxury in terms of how they made fit&finish and Quality a major margain for comparsion...The other brands didnt have that, they were comfortable with there "heritage" that they can get away with it.. & Lexus's have been better cars than Jaguars! #FACT Jags are shitty!

  • they didnt do it in 8 years....this cars were once toyota's and still are! they just have different badges! go to fuckin japan and go find a Toyota celsior and you'll see a lexus ls400

  • @sexyboi142 What is your point? Many companies "re-badge" cars

    Acura= Honda

    Infiniti= Nissan

    Cadillac= GM

    Lincoln= Ford

    Lexus=Toyota

If you are going to say that a Lexus is nothing more than a different badge, then you have just proven your ignorance in the car world. Lexus changed the game, whether you think so or not. Lexus forced the euro brands to lower prices and offer more features.

Name one other brand that made such an impact in less than 20 years, go ahead I'll wait!

  • @lexluthor400 fix ur error. Caddilac is under GM and has no other coresponding car. GM = whole brand so that isnt valid. Now i can see if you said Caddilac Cimmaron = Chevy Cavalier.

Lexus is nothing but a badge change. In Japan Toyota's are just a luxurious Same for Honda. In Japan Honda's are waaaay more luxurious than what we have toyota didnt do it in under 20yrs...they did it from the start in Japan. All they did was put a different badge on it and send it over.

  • @sexyboi142 Do you not realize what you just said or what?

People were dogging Lexus for being Toyota, all I stated was that GM, Honda, Ford, etc. all do the same

  • @sexyboi142 I understand that in Japan Lexus is Toyota, HOWEVER, the LS400 was built and designed from the start to be sold as a Lexus outside of Japan. They didn't just take an existing chassis and re-badge it. They built it as the LS400 outside of Japan and as the Toyota Celsior in Japan.

"All they did was put a different badge on it and send it over." And how is that different from GM and Cadillac?

Either way, the Lexus versions of the cars are far more than just re-badging, look it up!

  • @lexluthor400 This is correct. Lexus was a rare case of building for export markets FIRST, then rebadging for home. Lexus as an imprint now even exists in Japan, which is proof that the gamble was successful. IMO, it is the only one that worked, as North America is the only place you'll find Acura and Infiniti. In the case of the latter, some mainline Nissans look enough like the ones getting rebadged (with the only difference being engines and equip).

  • (contd)

Wha...? Who? Seeking an even hotter circle of hell, GM priced these pseudo-caddies (with four-speed manual transmissions, no less) thousands more than their Chevy Cavalier siblings. This bit of temporizing nearly killed Cadillac and remains its biggest shame.

  • The horror. The horror. Everything that was wrong, venal, lazy and mendacious about GM in the 1980s was crystallized in this flagrant insult to the good name and fine customers of Cadillac. Spooked by the success of premium small cars from Mercedes-Benz, GM elected to rebadge its awful mass-market J-platform sedans, load them up with chintzy fabrics and accessories and call them "Cimarron, by Cadillac."

  • @PaLiOutLawZ

The Cimarron was GM's biggest fuck up with the Cadillac brand. Everyone makes mistakes, it's only human and in the case of GM, piss poor management. Then again, I could care less about GM since I am a MOPAR guy. I like Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth/Imperial. I just drive a Pontiac 6000 because it's reliable, low maintenance, affordable, relatively comfortable and I get ok gas mileage to. My weekend cruiser is my project car '72 Dodge Coronet Brougham.

  • @jakemiller5000

I don't hate American cars. I love some of American cars such as Ford F trucks, Chevy Corvette, Impala, Camaro, and more. The problem is that many American cars are on Top 50 worst cars ever from website TIME dot com.

  • Comment removed

  • I love German cars. Japanese luxury cars are still my favorite. Lexus is just everything from Toyota and rebadged to Lexus. Lexus are beautiful cars, but that would be affordable if Toyota make high quality luxury car like Lexus with Toyota badge. German cars are solidity built, and old luxury cars are popular collection cars. Old collection Mercedes Benz cars can cost over million dollars.

  • Most reliable car i have ever owned (1994 LS 400) bought in 1997 with 22,000 miles sold with 550,000 miles in dec 2002 after transmission broke to my mechanic for $5k. I never had any problems with thecar till the end, bought a E class 2004, the biggest over rated crap ever. Lexus still builds the best car from the sale, service to ownership reliability.

  • I prefer Mercedes Benz S500 (W140) and BMW 740iL (E32).

  • I've NEVER liked this generation of GS. It's just an ugly car, especially from the rear with those stupid red pimple looking round tail lights floating on the rear. The interior looks like it's straight out of a Toyota. The LS on the other hand I like. It's a little on the conservative and bland side, but a very handsome car.

  • I've owned both cars in this review and an RX300 (currently on the GS300) and I've been mightily pleased with all of them. I've never owned a Merc but they beat my GS300 beats my old BMW M5 hands down. Reliable, comfortable, all the luxuries you expect, oozing quality, and the GS300 in particular was very sporty, almost like a full on sports saloon. Looks are in the eye of the beholder but I think they're all good looking cars and the new ones, especially the IS250 look fantastic!

  • I love my LS400.. :)

  • lexus's are horrible, bland, shapeless and ugly.... it's a shame because they are more reliable than the German stuff....

  • I find it pathetic why people who don't like the cars, like to look them up and exhibit how narrow minded they are. It didn't take Lexus long, oh the odd 20 years to come up and be competitive rivals with other luxury brands. Winning Countless awards; customer satisfactions and the sorts. The reliability of Lexus would put any other Manufacturer to shame, sure their under powered compared to a few others. Would you like the car to be working at the end of the day or in a garage being fixed?

  • @john0099100

I read earlier today something that rang well - Lexus/Infinity/Acura are standing on the shoulders of European luxury car makers (Mercedes/BMW/Audi/etc).

Its easy to improve and make reliable an existing design someone else spent the hard time and money conceiving from nothing.

  • all lexus does is copy the other luxury brands. they have little to no originality, with only 2 high performance cars (the LFA and ISF), so they cannot compete with AMG(Mercedes), M-Series(BMW), or S(Audi). they are just beefed up toyota's with no history or legacy behind them since the lexus brand is barely 20 years old.. they're such awful and dull cars..

  • Lexus make the worlds best cars...superior engineering and build quality....

  • :O Navigation existed in the 1990s?!?!? that is the most informative information ive ever heard!

  • i bought my 13 yr old LS400 3 years ago from a private owner..who had it resprayed pearl white .... i put 22inch monoblock wheels with the low profile snow tyres, 100% black tints and all the chrome trims/pipings, bi xenon headlights and the last but not least the after market LANDCRUISER chrome grill with the 'L' and the mercedes style 'L' on the bonnet...S600SEL doent hav s**t on my lexus...on top of dat, just dat over day my 10grand modern classic blasted a 30grand 745li

  • @SoSolidSouljja I own a 2000 ls400 and I love it, but there is no way that your 13 year old ls400 "blasted" a 745li bmw. The 745 is a much quicker car with 75 more hp and would never get beat by you unless the driver was not even racing. 22" wheels are very heavy and would make the car even slower.

  • @giantmidget08 your ryt lil guy...it was 1 of dem 'too good 2 b true' moments but trust me it felt good lookin at that 7series from my rear view mirror..a dnt think the beamer had a good launch

  • I would gladly drive a Lexus such as this. I'm willing to give up a bit of exclusivity and sportiness for one of the world's quietest and reliable luxury cars. These are absolute value monsters as well.

  • Jaguars are unreliable junk. They don't come anywhere near Lexus LS. That's just your national pride speaking.

  • God i love the original LS400, i hope to own one one day.

    They are just so special.

  • love both these cars, even now.i drive a lexus, top cars in my opinion

  • この時代のレクサスは輝いていた。

  • I am talking about today's cars or the latest generations coz I haven't droven them .... but if I think about a year like 1998 I can say (for sure) that LS400 was the best car made on Earth in that year ..... as a sedan car of course ... Mercedes and BM worked better after that

  • Lexus has surpassed Jaguar. It very close to the 3 germans (audi, bmw, mercedes).

  • I have had both an Alfa Romeo and a Lexus GS300, believe it or not, the Alfa has been FAR more reliable than the lexus ever was, in fact the Alfa is better in every respect (166) Japnese reliability isn't quite what the pundits would have you believe, the lexus was ok, but it didn't feel special, it felt exactly what it was, a Toyota

  • The LS one of the world's quietest cars. More so than the beloved British made Jaguar XJ, which I might add is a total crock when it comes to reliability or durability. Id love to park a big Lex in my Garage one day.

  • jaguar is the best? on which planet? The Jaguar XJR is a rolling pile of junk.

  • Wow Quentin, give that Lexus hell! I don't think I have ever seen him driving a car and smoke coming off of the tires.

  • @klarusboy me too. never seen do that before.

  • Hit My Name To See What Lexus Can Do! 325rwhp After No Cost Mods And Stage5weight Reduction

  • that's right, bmw and benz ain't no fucking competition.

  • @everyone

I've been in a lexus LS400, and its so quiet, there's leather everywhere and the ride is second to none, it may share a platform with the Toyota Celsior, but the Rolls Royce Phantom has a BMW engine, and the body's are welded in Germany for god's sake

This is a truly brilliant car and i'm not saying that because 80% of commenters on this video like them, every car has aspirations it can't achieve, so its Japenese, most things are made in Asian countries, they're great at production

  • @ysivyboi1

I own a 98 LS400 and yes they are one of the finest vehicles on the planet.

    -Well made

    -Refined as a Rolls Royce

    -Reliable

    What else could you want?

  • You're comparing a Toyota Celsior to a Rolls Royce? LMAO. You know, the BMW 7, MB S class, A8 and Jaguar XJ8 are also refined and well made and reliable. They might not be as ultra reliable as a Lexus (one extra shop visit per year) but they are high quality cars. And they've got something your LS400 completely lacks: brand prestige, GLOBAL APPEAL, STYLE and much, much nicer interiors from a design and even material point of view. Lexus interiors = overrated if you ask me. I mean that sincerely.

  • So your going to base your entire argument on "prestige"? And your calling me stupid?

  • No. I said that these brands have prestige and Lexus doesn't. They have a long history of important, innovative achievements in safety, technology, motorsport, design etc. etc. etc. Go visit the Mercedes, BMW or Porsche museums in Germany (I've been there) where you can see what these firms have accomplished. Not even all their achievements can be found there since it's just too much. Oh, and some people care about prestige. Just like some people, like you, care only about reliability it seems.
