  • i like the typing sound of this happy hacking

  • anyone know where i can get a keyboard with the same layout but with cherry mx reds?

  • mechanical?

  • Capacitive

  • Thanks for the instructional video on murdering your carpal tunnels.

  • If you use this in your office or around people you're a douche bag. This thing is fucking annoying. Congrats on your 300 dollar placebo, i bought a model M for 20 dollars and now I'm an obnoxious faggot too.

  • Ok I'm using the keyboard now.. keys feel totally amazing although I'm still not used to the spacing and keep hitting the wrong keys. Going back to my Filco cherry brown (camo version) for gaming.. it's hard to get used to that one again too.. But the keys on the HHKB really do have a nice feel to them, better then cherry keys. I think the Realforce might have been a better option, best of both worlds.

  • I 'm mainly using Realforce87UB (SE170S) now.

A size, arrangement, a feeling of a touch, sound, and weight are synthetically high-quality.

  • seem him struggle with the fn key ..everything slows down and you get a brain hemorrhage. I have this keyboard.. I still can't get used not having arrow keys.

  • Hmmm this keyboard sounds like some cheapo ploppy membrane, I couldn't work with that horrid noise especially at the speed I sometimes type at when going through the motions...why on earth are they so expensive?! For reference I use a cherry g80-3000, PBT, Blue, thanks to the uploader anyhow.

  • @Elastane The noise is not why people really buy mechanical keyboards. It's the feel, and the topre switches have far more keystroke feeling then any cherry mx, alps, or buckling spring switch.

And I actually think the sound is good. At least you wont get annoyed in the long run or piss off your family/co workers.

  • @Elastane This video makes the hhkb sound like a Model M! The actual unit isn't that loud--no louder than my Filco cherry brown keyboard. The keys are a lot lighter, though, and the tactile feel is much more suitable for long typing sessions.

  • seems cool but its terrible looking :\

  • @natebernot then you should search for "ASMR" on YouTube! Soooooo many sound only videos! :O

  • I could watch this all day! Love the pitter-patter soothing sounds of fingers flappin' keyboard tappin'!

  • I wish this was 1080p

  • i think this keyboard looks pretty cool.....but the damn thing is 300 bucks. Why the hell is it so expensive?

  • I am faster than you.

  • @Stormix1992 no one cares.

  • I was trying to keep up with what they were typing, the first bit was something like:

'suckin on my titties like you're wantin me callin me all the time'

  • @cfer50

You're making shit up. Obviously, this isn't in english, dumbfag.

  • I think however not having dedicated Delete and F-keys is a mistake, while two Win keys are available either side of the space bar. The company would certainly up their sales by providing a keyboard with more keys, because I don't think people buy this keyboard for having fewer keys (which I am sure everyone agrees is a downside), but rather for the quality and feel of the products, which is so hard to come by these days.

  • nice sound this is very confortabily

  • good one

  • this is like the sound of rain for nerds

  • @minored360 I'm already transported to my happy place. Oh, and section6nakamura, I dig the Ghost in the Shell reference. Keep up the happy hacking!

  • yee hacking :D

  • LOL my missus just said that's a nice sound, I says Well it's a HHKB typing I thought you didn't like the sound of keyboards clicking...

I have a filco with blue cherries it drives her nuts :)

  • I like it

  • dvorak or qwerty?

  • qwerty

  • I don't think I could hack (much less program in C or C#) with a keyboard of such a small form factor. Even if you could attach a numpad to it, the spacing of the keys seems too cramped to me. The designers say that this keyboard saves space if coding on a small desk & reduces shoulder pain caused by reaching for your mouse. WTF?

A good hacking keyboard would be a _full-size_ keyboard; something from the Das Keyboard series, or IBM's classic Model M series.

  • I recommend you to touch this keyboard.

  • @section6nakamura I have, it blew my mind and I hate half key boards.

  • @xplinux22 To be fair, the numpad isn't used too often for programming and some terminal emulators don't even pick up the numbers from the numpad...

  • @xplinux22 Depends on how often you use the number pad and directional keys. For the most part mine just get in the way when I'm reaching for my keyboard.

  • Comment removed

  • @xplinux22 I do some coding, ones in a blue moon. but you're right this keyboard is more for typing. I use it a lot while searching at the internet sending emails and typing in general the feeling you get on your fingers when you type is simply amazing this TOPRE dome / spring mechanical combination is really good you simply have to try it, it feels kind of weird at first but then the more you try it, the more you get addicted to it.. No real directional keys. But I love it so far !

  • @xplinux22 The keys are full size. The spacing between the keys is the same as the keyboard you are using to type this uninformed rant.

  • @xplinux22 - totally agree, I go mad without pageup/pagedown/home/end.

  • @walter0bz takes time but you get used to it.. I can't confused with a normal keyboard now.

  • @xplinux22 I own the same keyboard, the keys themselves are full sized, actually a bit further spaced than my Das Keyboard.

  • I have the apple keyboard but i need a smaller keyboard

  • I would love this... But my fingers are very fussy with what they type on. For example, I can only type fast on Apple Slimline Keyboards.

I cannot type on Microsoft keyboards very fast at all.

    This does look good though.

I do {} first and then put the code in between. So I use direction keys allot while coding.

  • Nice typing skills.

  • you now now thatim am very locos can youb sow me how to learn hoe to do keybor ok locos

  • our keyboards are differnt

  • I wonder if I can hack the Happy Hacking Keyboard...

  • <<<<<<<<<<<<<<Insomnia? Click here.

  • I am in love with that key sound!

Do you by chance know, how many different versions of this keyboard exist? I have seen one with cursor keys, with or without inscription on the keys.

  • si es jy rapido solo q se equiboca mucho

  • THATS A HUGE BITCH!

  • I got a keyboard Just like that I really like that keyboard and its really small so you do not have to stretch your hands I plugged it up to my laptop and I think that this is really cool dude I'm talking about REALLY!

  • Hmm, and i thought i was the only one who never used my right pinky...

  • brain fart :D 0:22

  • popcorn anyone?

  • Nice keyboard, bad video

  • eso si es ser rapido :D

  • 140$keyboard :I

  • I'll stick to my keytronic keyboard, similar feeling, not as good, but wayyy cheaper.

  • The more I watch these vids, the more addicted I become to the sound of the capacitive switches.

  • tell me how do you type so fast cause i like how you type on that keybaoRD!!!!

  • Not bad, but I think I'll just stick to Unicomp Model M clones :)

  • 300$ for a good keystroke ... ridiculous

  • @vkohmoviemaker

You can buy this for 300$.

You can not buy this feeling for 300$.

  • i just bought IBM model M and i think this will be my next keyboard (=.. awsome sound so soft .. i think irl that doesnt sound that loud? Maybe i buy that hhkb before next year (=..

  • sounds like my fuking hamster when it stays up all night on its wheel

  • i WANT 1 but 300$to much for my blood

  • kay so what the hell are you . typing . are you on some kind of program . or is this you jus normally typing showing off the keyboard .

  • u look gay

  • The sound it makes.... Beautiful.

  • wtf, those japanese now r getting rlly serious about having no things to do

  • expensive keyboard but sounds fantastic.

225 euros ! ouch. even so, still very tempting.

  • I find it hard to imagine using a keyboard without cursor keys - they must be some of the most used peripheral keys of all.

  • are the keys really considered superior to model M ?

given how cheap you can get a model M these days in comparison......

  • what's the idea behind no number pads on some keyboards? - i find i use the number pad on my model M all the time - both at work and home.

  • get a life

  • clicking sounds ahhh... :) it tickles my ears

  • fast forward

  • i love this TIC TIC TIC

  • One thing though, the regular one is $60 and the professional one is $300, the only difference I see is that the professional one is missing the letters on the keys which I guess is supposed to make you feel and look smarter and cooler when typing? XD

  • The two models have completely different switches. The 60 dollar model has the regular rubber dome switches almost every keyboard has and the 300 dollar model has Topre Switches, which offer a superior experience. They're known as a "luxury" switch.

  • i don't understand this keyboard. i havent really read into it. what makes it different?

  • This is the highest key stroke feeling, a small size, durability, and good-looking.

    etc etc

  • @section6nakamura What do you mean by "highest key stoke feeling"? What does it feel like?

  • @section6nakamura

What kind of switches does this Fujitsu have inside? Are they Alps?

  • @section6nakamura why is it so damn expensive? i want one but $277! jeese!

  • @Kylemathews1 Because it's an extremely high quality keyboard.

  • @IONtechpb It's mainly the comfort you feel from typing each key. It doesn't tire your fingers like some cheaper keyboards. But this one (HHKB) is primarily geared towards programmers/sysadmins.

  • @IONtechpb

the keys have mechanical switches behind them, whereas normal keyboard have a cheap rubber dome that buckles under the pressure, the feel of the mechanical switches is much nicer, and it has tactile feedback halfway down the travel distance a the actuation point, allowing you to press the keys half-way down and touch type much faster and easier than on a crappy rubber dome "normal" keyboard

  • I just got my HHKB Pro II in the mail and am typing on it. This is the most comfortable keyboard I've ever typed on by far. It's expensive, yes. But, how much time do you spend on your keyboard? Are your fingers with 250$ over the next 5 years? I think so personally.

I'm not a frivolous spender. I buy expensive beds, keyboards, and mice -- and that's it. For 250$ this keyboard is a steal.

  • that keyboard needs a bigger ctrl button

  • i love the clicking off the keyboard

  • Hmm, you know if you listen long enough and shut your eyes, it starts to sound like rain drops in the night. :) Nice and relaxing...

  • HEY WERE CAN U GET ONE

  • that sound.... so beautifull

  • hey sorry 4 the n00bness but why is this indicated for "hacking"

    thx!

  • "Hacking" as in "doing cool stuff with your computer", "cool" as in "productive/difficult/creative". :)

  • Where can i get this keyboard? i checked the link in the discription and i cannot find it, thanks!

  • I updated the link.

You may get in this site.

But it becomes expensive on the occasion of the purchase for appreciation of the yen now.

  • Thank you ^^

  • elitekeyboards*com

    cheaper and its stateside.

  • Love the sound!

    So relaxing!

    I don't know why! LOL

  • It sounds pretty sweet, but i don't think i could go without an attached numpad. Engineering major means a lot of excel work. Even my laptop has a numpad, :D.

  • I am a EE that programs a lot. I don't use a keypad at all. My current keyboard is an old IBM model M 'space saver' which I really like, but after seeing this, I am going to have to check this out.

  • Check out the IBM model m keyboard, they sound great and they also have a numpad.

  • Oh and I love my HHKB pro2 almost as much as my Realforce 87U :)

  • I also own realforce.

    あなたとは旨い酒が飲めそうだ。

  • Why do so many people not understand how you type Japanese?

Please stop posting ignorant posts like the one bellow and go and learn how Kanji is input with roman characters.

  • the sound is soooo good =D

  • LOVE THE SOUND :)

  • jgiasug0q9weg7fweiguyew98g7wa89g74q389ugisoeugjiowegsfgfsdgsdgsdg

  • wow, i really like the sound. i wish i had a hhkb =)

  • I wish I had one. So much money, though. :c

  • Well worth it though, i was going to go for DAS pro 3 but change of hearth.

  • small keyboard

  • it's like a drum solo

  • lol. maybe that explains why i watched someone type for two solid minutes. weirdly fascinating.

  • I like cheese.

  • whats a fitish?

  • something that your attracted to that makes you randy but isnt supposed to. like a foot fetish. feet make some people RANDY!

  • damn kid you gotz mad skillz

  • You're obviously not typing anything, otherwise that's a whole lot of twenty letter words.

  • you obviously dont understand how to type japanese

  • Okay, I'm sure you do. Good for you.

  • its called programming, dumb ass

    lol

  • Does it bloody matter if he's typing anything or not?

  • Ya!

  • Ahh, now i saw one in a shop and i see! its so small! i really want it! i typed a bit in it and it has a extremely relaxing sound omg omg its not big, not fat! sorry for the other comment! IT IS AMAZING BWHAAAAAAAAAA

    (sorry for the freakout)

  • It was not able to be without buying it when I also knew this keyboard.

  • this guy have a keybord fetish ...lol

  • its just a big fat keyboard

  • >its

    It's

    >just

Nope, the best key switches money can buy and a real smart layout

    >a big

    No it's small.

    >fat

The form factor is really tiny.

    >keyboard

Sir, you entered a correct word. Well done, that is 1 out of 6.

  • Hey Section6Nakamura. I was wondering if you can briefly outline the differences between the Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional 2, and the Happy Hacking Keyboard Light 2.

  • pro:lite2≒nissanGTR:Datsun240Z

  • Model M -was- the best keyboard made in history. HHKB Pro 2 is the new king.

  • You should get a Customizer 104 from the Unicomp company instead of this or any other keyboard. Unicomp took over IBM's keyboard business and the customizer is basically the exact same design save for the metal back plate of the famous IBM Model M keyboard the greatest keyboard ever made in the history of mankind.

  • It is difficult to obtain it in Japan, and I am disappointed.

  • why is it called happy haching keyboard

  • Because it is designed so that the hacker(in original meaning) may become happy.

A general person becomes happy, too.

    like me

  • where do u get one and how much does it cost?
