  • Hi, when the tree was originally planted on to this rock did you place a layer of muck on the rock firs then plant the tree on the rock ?

  • @THE1OASIS yes...have you watched the other video that describes the planting process? Creating an Inspired Rock planting? If you haven't there is 2 parts and it describes the whole process from start to finish.

  • Thanks for your reply. when this was originally planted on the rock did you place muck on the rock first ?

  • Great video ! I would like to ask a what woulld be the best ingredient to add to potters clay for making my muck ? I have manged to get some clay but can't find peat, sedge peay or Sphagnum moss peat??

  • @THE1OASIS - Long fiber Sphagnum moss is essential to the mix in my mind because it is the path way for water to move through the medium. I have not done this but I have heard of others adding fired clay product like turface to the mix.

  • That looks much nicer on a rock then in a pot,

I have a cotoneaster i would like to do the same with.

But i am worried about the roots growing to quick

so would it be ok to use

    cheers

  • @PogoFogo I have little to no experience with cotoneaster personally so its difficult for me to say. I do know that boxwoods' can have very aggressive root systems and they do very well on stones.

  • What are you calling muck? Where do you get it, or how do you make it?

  • @12raven34 I think one of the other videos explains it more but basically muck is an equal by volume mix of clay, long fiber sphagnum moss, and Michigan peat (which is basically just very rich, black peat). I make my own although some bonsai business sell some.
