  • i was in manificiant Melacca a week ago, love evrything about it. my historian friend told me that a lot of the old building were destroyed. it would have been ever more

spectacular if they kept all the old building. still a must go place.

  • @Bangkokokhoo Thank you very much for your comment. Glad that you enjoyed Melaka. Wikipedia: After almost 300 yrs of existence, in 1806, the British, unwilling to maintain the fortress & wary of letting other European powers taking control of it, ordered its slow destruction. The fort was almost totally demolished. The timely intervention of Sir S Raffles visiting Malacca in 1810 saved them. The only remnants of the earliest Portuguese fortress in SE Asia is the Fort A Famosa.

  • Bellissimo, Wonderful Video Great Job Congratulations. What is the name of the music you use in the first few minutes????

  • Thank you very much tukilala.

The music is 'Joget Serampang Laut', a typical Malaysian folk music which is used for Joget, a folk dance by the Malays, the Peranakan and the Portuguese communities.

Joget, was instroduced by the early Portuguese immigrants and adapted by the locals.

The musical instruments used are traditional too.

Those Joget music with lyrics are sung by a male & female where they exchange cheerful poems or responses, spontaneously, like a teasing song.

  • this is very interesting piece of history!!!. personally,i always liked malaysia.....my brother in law is married to a malaysian girl, and i learnt alot about her beautiful birth country.thank you for sharing this with us.

  • Thanks beadssticher for your compliments. There are a number of Malaysians in Australia and quite a large number of Australians have repeatedly visiting Malaysia each year. Many of them served in Malaysia before and after the Independence. There are a few RAAF Bases there and I used to visit their sports club in the north. Nice people to hang around with.

    Jasmine

  • Very nice ,thank you Jasmine for sharing your country history with us Jane.

  • Thanks so much, Jane. Glad that you enjoyed it and thank you for watching.

    Jasmine

  • Jasmine and Alfred - thank you for sharing that wonderful geography-history lesson on your country of birth. I was amazed, intrigued, and needless to say enlightened.

    tom

  • Thank you Tom. Glad that you enjoyed the video. I got emotional towards the end ref to late Tunku Abdul Rahman for I met him in person several times at the same hotel ballroom in Kuala Lumpur but he was already in wheel chair.

We still call him Bapa Merdeka (Father of Independence) and Bapa Malaysia (Father of Malaysia)

    Jasmine

  • Thanks so much John. I truly appreciate your kind compliments. Yes, Alfred was very impressed with what he had seen and experienced. Lots of history, indeed. Can't put all in one Youtube. The old places have not changed much. They are well taken care of.

In fact, the government also discovered the megalith stones in the suburbs. One set of 3 upright stones have engraving with flowers and other motifs. Archeologists are making more studies about them.

    Jasmine

  • Jasmine,if YouTube had facility for a 10 rating I would have giving you 11.

What an impressive explanation of Malacca History.

This video is worthy of showing on Malaysian Television.

I arrived in Malacca a couple of years after Malaysia's independence it's a beautiful place,I have a lot of fond memories.

I noticed you took Alfred to visit,I bet he was impressed.

    Thank you Jasmine & Alfred;.
