man, i didnt knw how significant that moment in time when Taufaahau declared in front of his people that Tonga and its people belong to God. What a powerful and meaninful statement! Now i know why Tonga is the only pacific island to not be colonised by foreign power, as God honored Taufaahaus prayer and covenant. ... i am proud to be Tongan and have a deeper meaning into what it means to be Tongan.

I can see that this fact of the dedication of Tonga to God's guidance and protection by Tupou I is truely an eternal blessing and gift for our people. We have 2 very hard evidence that this is still live and well in the hearts of Tongan nowadays 1 The eager paticipation of Tongans on Christian Churches in Tonga and abroad 2 Foreign remittances aprrox $200 million poured into the Tongan economy every year.
