The problem with American cars in general is reliability and fuel efficiency. I like the style ,comfort and the performance of cars and totally hate the style of Asian cars as they look like insects to me ,hey show me some muscles dude. Unfortunately all my American cars did torture me and the stealership has no mercy each time you show for a repair. After reading about owners review of the MKS I can tell that that Lincoln is still way far behind in reliability. i hope they will improve.
what does it copy jackass? I assume you put the same comment into some of the BMW posts... or you don't mind paying at least 90K for bland interior styling and brand name recognition while you eat cat food for dinner? jackass
That same "who gives a shit" attitude has been held by the Big 3 since the late 1970's. Look where its got them. Honestly I don't want american cars to try to out Japanese the Japanese cars and out European the Europeans cars. As a customer I want the big 3 to make cars that are distinctly American. They need to start invoking styles and designs from the times before the Oil Embargo and mate them with today's reliable and efficient technologies.
Maximas top out at 37 grand, that's a lot for a FWD Nissan if you ask me.

Lexus may be Japanese, but they are still built in AMERICA, which technically makes them AMERICAN because they are built by AMERICANS which makes them pieces of CRAP lol.
u really know nothing about the car industry. all car companies build cars globally. however that usually doesnt affect there build quality. for example toyota builds the yaris in france. the french have a reputation for bad build quality yet the yaris is reliable and has great bulid quality. you somehow associate build quality with assembly quality.
American car companies get a bad rap for crap interiors because they have interiors made by shit manufacturers (like Johnson controls) which will line the inside of a car for a fraction what superior manufacturers will do. However a lot of american car makers have migrated over to higher quality builders like Delphi (who makes the interiors for nearly all Japanese cars) which is why materials and quality are similar to most "imports".
I have to agree. Before i bought my fusion, i drove about everything offered and i found the camry to be very cheap feeling and looking. i guess its all about want you want? i do lov my fusion more then any car i have ever owned.
not for nothing, but this car is not a replacement for the LS. The LS was taken out of the lineup, this was put in it. that's about the end of their co-relation.
And Lexus, additionally, is not American, every Lexus in the lineup (with few exception) exists in Japan as a Nissan.
Thats because they are Toyotas dumbass... Its just that Toyota (along with Honda) in the 80s realized that if you just slap an "exclusive" badge on a vehicle and spruce up the marketing campaign American people are stupid enough to run out and get it which creates desirability and thats why people think "Lexus" is so grand... Just recently has Toyota started making "real" lexus vehicles... before that they were simply Japanese Toyotas with a different badge... but there still better...
what a snore.. this thing is marketed to old bags from connecticut..ones who can't afford a benz or a BMW..or who think Lincoln signifies class...cuz it's what gran-pa drove...
You people do make me laugh..... "I drive only japanese cars" "it looks japanese"...big friggin deal! I don't understand why you sheepishly go for something just because it is Japanese.
You can keep gthem, I'll give the Lincoln a shogt/test drive because I actually will not let myself be led by the nose by people and their blind loyalty to "japanese" What a bunch of sheep.....
I only buy Japanese, My Lexus is the most reliable car ever. I am in the market for a new car and looking at the Lexus GS, but I might just try the MKS.
is it true that this car is front-wheel? if so,count me out.i've had enough of front wheel drive cars.I'm so glad that Cadillac just about done away with front wheel driven platforms.too much torque-steer,and they simply don't handle that great.also there's no V8 option to compete with the Mercedes,BMW,and Cadillac crowd.I guess if you're a typical Honda Accord,Nissan Maxima, this is your best alternative, because Lincolns are a second tier luxury car.I'll take the CTS-V please!!!!!!
The reason "all cars look similar" has a lot to do with where they are assembled. The Lincoln MKS shares the same platform with the Ford Taurus and Mercury Milan. They all come off the same assembly line in Chicago, IL. The body was borrowed from Volvo. Now you know the rest of the story.
im planning on getting into a towncar in a few years, but it will be a used model, 2003-2008. I definitely wont get any lincolns after 2007....this car looks just like the smaller one, which looks like every other generic sport sedan. Lincoln should stay with size and comfort. If i wanted to get a sporty car i would get a vette.
I've owned a 93 towncar and I own a 98. I love the car. Comfortable, reliable, and drives beautifully. Of course, it doesn't have all the high tech gadgets of the S500 and Lexus LS, but it's a lot less expensive than both of them. A lot of bang for the buck.
I agree with the message below. The whole MK line is confusing, theyre trying to hard to be like Benz and Beamers with the numbered and lettered titles. The car is nice but from a distant it almost resembles a Hyundai accent and Altima, and the front, a Galant. But Im glad that lincoln is going a whole different direction these days. The squares got old. They really need to make a coupe again....that will bring them back in some serious business
I hate the names Lincoln uses now. MKS, MKZ, MKT, who can keep track.
This car is great looking but should be called the Continental. A great needs a great name. I personally like the style of this car. lincoln may have finally found a look to go with, just not the names.
i agree with you to a point, the Mark (MK) series has always been kept special for the top of the line Continentals, i think this car should be 1.rear wheel drive and 2.Named th Lincoln continental MK IV (9)
It's okay, but still falls short of the "Mark".....speaking of which, this front end looks like a cross between the 30's and 40's split grille Lincoln and the more recent Mark VIII. Not bad but the designers must've fallen asleep on the rest of the car..too generic. And as long as Ford has finally figured out those pesky Brake Deactivation Switch fires that caused a lot of their Lincolns, Fords, ETC to go up in flames they may actually sell a few of these things...
I build this car & all of us at Ford Assembly are very proud of it. I can't explain how great it feels when you see it coming down the line. Get ready America!!!
I like the Lincoln MKS. This is what the LS could have become if it was still here. Some would said it should have RWD instead. But I think it well do great. Maybe not so much against the Caddy or BMW, but really agaist Acura and Audi. Do you think if the MKS and others do well in the market place that Lincoln will bring out a RWD model?
MKS means MKS, just like MKZ is MKZ, CTS is CTS, S500 is S500,RX350 is RX350,so on and so fourth... Not being mean, just telling you that the truth is none of the letter names such as these and many others honestly meaan nothing, just lazy name creators in the design teams at all the companies, and for some reason, letter and number car names seem to be a sign of luxury in the automotive world.
I think that they're just capitalizing on the "Mark" nameplate, I personally think its ridiculous. I guess if they reintroduced my car it would be the MKC...??? and Z is the Roman numeral for $40,000 :)
I just placed my order for this vehicle. Drove one of the first cars built at a Lincoln event (will be available @ dealers in late May). It is refined American elegance. A "homerun" by Lincoln.
Congrats! I hope it turns out to be everything you want. But for myself, I'll stick to my S-class due to it's record of quality. I just don't trust American quality anymore after all the problems I had with my last Lincoln. American quality is just too hit and miss, plus, American luxury cars lose 10 grand right after you drive them off the lot. A 45 grand Lincoln/Caddy is worth about 20 grand two years later..no thanks!
OMG, that's pure ignorance. It's because of ignorant people like you that the world bashes America. I'm comparing Lincoln to the competition TODAY, not 20 years ago. Saying Mercedes is great because of what they did decades ago is like saying Egypt is a superpower because of the pharaohs. First, you don't know how this MKS is going to score in terms of quality (I'm sure they'll be very reliable). Second, German luxury cars devalue just as much, if not more, than American or Japanese cars.
Thank you !!!! superauctionstar, somebody sees the light !!!! Oh Nightbird, American quality is hit or miss. OK, Lincoln is #3 in the world only behind Lexus and Porsche. MKZ is the best built car in it's class. And Toyota Reports (consumer reports) of all people rave about the Fusion, Milan and the MKZ. So what are you talking about ? Hey Superauctionstar as the old saying goes "ignorance is bliss"
I can't believe some of you guys think this vehicle is the size as a Focus. Are you for real? The MKS is built off the same platform as the new Taurus. Have you seen the Taurus? It is a huge vehicle with the largest trunk in its class. It swallows up 8 golf club bags. The MKS is a large vehicle and it looks fantastic. The new turbo direct injection engine is going to kick butt. I drive a BMW 328i and I think the Lincoln is very nice.
Why not? Because it's American? People need to stop thinking a car is superior just because it's German. This car, with a V8 engine and AWD, is probably just as good as anything out of Stuttgart or Munich.
Please, go compare a 1985 S-class to a 1985 Lincoln or Caddy, then tell me which held up better, is driveable, etc. It takes more than a V8 & AWD to beat the all around MB quality, and USA is only BARELY catching up now. Here is a list of what MB invented: Safety cage construction, Anti-Lock brakes, Traction control, First air bags offered in USA, Brake assist, Auxillary turn signals, First 7 speed auto transmission, Introduced pre-tensioners to seat belts, PRE-SAFE radar crash detection, etc..
Oh c'mon! The Autobahn legend 1985 500SEL Euro is a tank made to do 140mph all day long without breaking a sweat and protect its occupants in the absolute worst accidents w/o airbags. It's Glasurit paint will still be shining as it did as it left Stuttgart even after 25 years in the sun, still have supple leather, all electronics will work, the engine may have 250k mi, but it still hauls w/o a rebuild, and the headliner won't be drooping on someone's head as it blows the 85 Eldo away.
Can you please give us more "insider" info? Like, do you know if the Town Car is gonna be axed? Why won't they update the TC like Caddy did with the DTS and put in A/C front seats and more elec. gizmos? Are they ever gonna bring back the Mark coupe? Any "insider" info is appreciated, thanks.
Just wait till you actually SEE this car....(this summer) it is a much bigger car than it appears to be in this video. It will have a more spacious back seat than the Town Car's. I am surprised you guys don't like it. Built off the Volvo S80 frame and a 300 plus hp engine that is turbo-charged will become available.
As a longtime Lincoln fan/owner, I can truly say this car looks like a piece of shit. The styling is very generic, and the grill looks ugly and out of place. I'm noticing alot of young people here like this car, but these young'uns don't really know the history of the brand and they will fall head over heels for anything that is new and has lots of chrome. Ugly car on the outside, so I hope the inside is better.
I'm a longtime Lincoln fan/owner too and think this car is BEAUTIFUL!!! It is right there with the best of the Lincoln best - understated elegance and it meets today head on. I'd put this next to a '63 and relish the picture of both!!!
How can you say that?! Look at the side profile, it could be mistaken for anything out on the road right now. The tail treatment is a joke altogether. The best thing exterior wise is the grill I admit, but even that isn't anything exceptional. Come'on now, we both know Lincoln can do better than this. But I respect your opinion.. =)
I think its really time after building 30years Town Car, buildt a complete new car! Don´t misunderstand me, I love the TC but I think the MKS is better than all the shit like Blackwood or Navigator. And MKS can beat the STS and E-Class or Toyotas.
Wow...better than Mercedes Benz? You sound like you have ridden in this thing and felt it on the road. How did you do that when it hasn't even come out yet? LOL!
I drive daily a E-Class. But sometimes I drive TC stretchlimos. I know both cars. Sure the TC is not the same standart, but he is much cheaper and bigger. Im more interestet in bigger cars than in expensive cars. So its better for me to buy a 20 year old TC than a new S-Class...
I think you misunderstood me. I meant you sounded like you had already driven the MKS. I don't anyone can beat Mercedes Benz when it comes to engineering, and I don't anyone can beat Toyota when it comes to quality. MB's are wonderful cars to drive but expensive to fix, and Toyotas are built better than any other car on the road. I hope American cars will one day match both MB & Toyota, but for now, they don't.
Sorry meant you misunderstood him, not me. And I agree with xxraisinboyxx that it sounds like you have already driven the MKS -have you? Are you a dealer with access to this car before anybody else?
And I mean, if you want a smaller car with german quality, you have to pay the price. But if you want a representative and big car for a fair price, buy an american car. I tested a cadillac STS for my Taxibuissnes, the quality is not bad, only the engines are to big. Give me the STS or MKS with a 2Liter Dieselengine and I buy a fleet.
Very true. Way more style. Keep'em on the road if you can. The salt up here in Canada used to eat cars of that era for lunch. Gas is alway a problem at $1 a litre but you can still enjoy once in a while.Long Live Lincoln.
If what I'm looking at is a Town Car successor... it's sad for me as for Ford fan to see they are killing Licoln brand! Why the hell they have more SUV's and other 4WD than classic sedans, and why their new cars are so odd looking?
i like my 2006 lincoln town car singature L edition better than this. i also like my 2006 lincoln navigator ultimate alot better. lincolns are very good luxury cars!
my wife has a 1988 chrysler new yorker that has better styling, class, and still turns heads when we are in town, this generic piece of crap sucks..when are they going to learn how do design something that jumps out at you?
no wonder american customers arent buying this crap.

And Lexus, additionally, is not American, every Lexus in the lineup (with few exception) exists in Japan as a Nissan.

american cars certainly aint overhyped . i wonder why
cardesigner5 3 years ago
You cant claim a look you dipshits. The only thing that can be copied is the EXACT look.
AbyssalTitan 3 years ago
Thats because they are Toyotas dumbass... Its just that Toyota (along with Honda) in the 80s realized that if you just slap an "exclusive" badge on a vehicle and spruce up the marketing campaign American people are stupid enough to run out and get it which creates desirability and thats why people think "Lexus" is so grand... Just recently has Toyota started making "real" lexus vehicles... before that they were simply Japanese Toyotas with a different badge... but there still better...

You people do make me laugh..... "I drive only japanese cars" "it looks japanese"...big friggin deal! I don't understand why you sheepishly go for something just because it is Japanese.
You can keep gthem, I'll give the Lincoln a shogt/test drive because I actually will not let myself be led by the nose by people and their blind loyalty to "japanese" What a bunch of sheep.....

is it true that this car is front-wheel? if so,count me out.i've had enough of front wheel drive cars.I'm so glad that Cadillac just about done away with front wheel driven platforms.too much torque-steer,and they simply don't handle that great.also there's no V8 option to compete with the Mercedes,BMW,and Cadillac crowd.I guess if you're a typical Honda Accord,Nissan Maxima, this is your best alternative, because Lincolns are a second tier luxury car.I'll take the CTS-V please!!!!!!

All cars look similar today.
PAK07 3 years ago
The reason "all cars look similar" has a lot to do with where they are assembled. The Lincoln MKS shares the same platform with the Ford Taurus and Mercury Milan. They all come off the same assembly line in Chicago, IL. The body was borrowed from Volvo. Now you know the rest of the story.

im planning on getting into a towncar in a few years, but it will be a used model, 2003-2008. I definitely wont get any lincolns after 2007....this car looks just like the smaller one, which looks like every other generic sport sedan. Lincoln should stay with size and comfort. If i wanted to get a sporty car i would get a vette.
stephensamperi 3 years ago

They really need to make a coupe again....that will bring them back in some serious business
grayson7 4 years ago
I hate the names Lincoln uses now. MKS, MKZ, MKT, who can keep track.
This car is great looking but should be called the Continental. A great needs a great name. I personally like the style of this car. lincoln may have finally found a look to go with, just not the names.
ThePurpleGang 4 years ago
i agree with you to a point, the Mark (MK) series has always been kept special for the top of the line Continentals, i think this car should be 1.rear wheel drive and 2.Named th Lincoln continental MK IV (9)

sorry I meant the Q' for MKZ not this vid!
icelez 4 years ago
It's okay, but still falls short of the "Mark".....speaking of which, this front end looks like a cross between the 30's and 40's split grille Lincoln and the more recent Mark VIII. Not bad but the designers must've fallen asleep on the rest of the car..too generic. And as long as Ford has finally figured out those pesky Brake Deactivation Switch fires that caused a lot of their Lincolns, Fords, ETC to go up in flames they may actually sell a few of these things...

Not being mean, just telling you that the truth is none of the letter names such as these and many others honestly meaan nothing, just lazy name creators in the design teams at all the companies, and for some reason, letter and number car names seem to be a sign of luxury in the automotive world.
speedgixser995 4 years ago
That, and everyone seems to be too lazy to spell out the word "MARK" which is where the MK came from. Remember, the MKT debuted as the Mark LT...

I just placed my order for this vehicle. Drove one of the first cars built at a Lincoln event (will be available @ dealers in late May). It is refined American elegance. A "homerun" by Lincoln.
cyberkraft 4 years ago 2
Nightbird 4 years ago
OMG, that's pure ignorance. It's because of ignorant people like you that the world bashes America. I'm comparing Lincoln to the competition TODAY, not 20 years ago. Saying Mercedes is great because of what they did decades ago is like saying Egypt is a superpower because of the pharaohs. First, you don't know how this MKS is going to score in terms of quality (I'm sure they'll be very reliable). Second, German luxury cars devalue just as much, if not more, than American or Japanese cars.
superauctionstar 4 years ago 2
Thank you !!!! superauctionstar, somebody sees the light !!!! Oh Nightbird, American quality is hit or miss. OK, Lincoln is #3 in the world only behind Lexus and Porsche. MKZ is the best built car in it's class. And Toyota Reports (consumer reports) of all people rave about the Fusion, Milan and the MKZ. So what are you talking about ? Hey Superauctionstar as the old saying goes "ignorance is bliss"
Rock112207 4 years ago
Don't say Cadillac or Imports are better without driving this vehicle. That would just tell me how much of a biased noob you are.
CsalbertCs 4 years ago 2
I can't believe some of you guys think this vehicle is the size as a Focus. Are you for real? The MKS is built off the same platform as the new Taurus. Have you seen the Taurus? It is a huge vehicle with the largest trunk in its class. It swallows up 8 golf club bags. The MKS is a large vehicle and it looks fantastic. The new turbo direct injection engine is going to kick butt. I drive a BMW 328i and I think the Lincoln is very nice.

This Lincoln kills the Mercedes S-Class / BMW 750i.
superauctionstar 4 years ago 3
okay this is a good car, but not that good.
NeoEpzilon 4 years ago
Why not? Because it's American? People need to stop thinking a car is superior just because it's German. This car, with a V8 engine and AWD, is probably just as good as anything out of Stuttgart or Munich.
superauctionstar 4 years ago 3
i wish id live in a cheaper country with less taxes and lower prices on tha cars :)
solveg18 4 years ago
Please, go compare a 1985 S-class to a 1985 Lincoln or Caddy, then tell me which held up better, is driveable, etc. It takes more than a V8 & AWD to beat the all around MB quality, and USA is only BARELY catching up now. Here is a list of what MB invented: Safety cage construction, Anti-Lock brakes, Traction control, First air bags offered in USA, Brake assist, Auxillary turn signals, First 7 speed auto transmission, Introduced pre-tensioners to seat belts, PRE-SAFE radar crash detection, etc..
Nightbird 4 years ago
Grrreat, they invented all that shit. Yet, Consumer Reports does not recommend them due to reliability problems.
Cadillacs and Lincolns are way more reliable than anything that comes out of Germany these days.
superauctionstar 4 years ago
sorry night bird i own a 1985 cadillac eldorado and i will put up against any 85 S class anyday
icelez 4 years ago

Just wait till you actually SEE this car....(this summer) it is a much bigger car than it appears to be in this video. It will have a more spacious back seat than the Town Car's.
Nightbird 4 years ago
I'm a longtime Lincoln fan/owner too and think this car is BEAUTIFUL!!! It is right there with the best of the Lincoln best - understated elegance and it meets today head on. I'd put this next to a '63 and relish the picture of both!!!
rgs01977 4 years ago
How can you say that?! Look at the side profile, it could be mistaken for anything out on the road right now. The tail treatment is a joke altogether. The best thing exterior wise is the grill I admit, but even that isn't anything exceptional. Come'on now, we both know Lincoln can do better than this. But I respect your opinion.. =)

I think its really time after building 30years Town Car, buildt a complete new car! Don´t misunderstand me, I love the TC but I think the MKS is better than all the shit like Blackwood or Navigator. And MKS can beat the STS and E-Class or Toyotas.
strassenkreuzer 4 years ago
Wow...better than Mercedes Benz? You sound like you have ridden in this thing and felt it on the road. How did you do that when it hasn't even come out yet? LOL!
xxRAISINBOYxx 4 years ago 2
I drive daily a E-Class. But sometimes I drive TC stretchlimos. I know both cars. Sure the TC is not the same standart, but he is much cheaper and bigger. Im more interestet in bigger cars than in expensive cars. So its better for me to buy a 20 year old TC than a new S-Class...
strassenkreuzer 4 years ago
I think you misunderstood me. I meant you sounded like you had already driven the MKS. I don't anyone can beat Mercedes Benz when it comes to engineering, and I don't anyone can beat Toyota when it comes to quality. MB's are wonderful cars to drive but expensive to fix, and Toyotas are built better than any other car on the road. I hope American cars will one day match both MB & Toyota, but for now, they don't.
Nightbird 4 years ago
Sorry meant you misunderstood him, not me. And I agree with xxraisinboyxx that it sounds like you have already driven the MKS -have you? Are you a dealer with access to this car before anybody else?
Nightbird 4 years ago
And I mean, if you want a smaller car with german quality, you have to pay the price. But if you want a representative and big car for a fair price, buy an american car. I tested a cadillac STS for my Taxibuissnes, the quality is not bad, only the engines are to big. Give me the STS or MKS with a 2Liter Dieselengine and I buy a fleet.
