Great video! I appreciate the plan to help us all think thru our ghb. Glad you care. Might be a tiny bit more realistic if we couldn't hear rigs running in the BG, -but thats not a valid concern compared to -are we all ready? EMP is the single biggest threat to our nation right now, and tho our gov spends every dime they steal from us on gettin re-elected and wow-ing some deep pockets, they haven't spent anything on prepping our infrastructure against EMP, so we are in deep doo, dude!
So as soon as you discover an emp strike you're just going to book it out of town? That will just add to the panic, it's people like you with your every-man for himself attitude that will create most of the chaos and disorder.
I think I made the mistake that all my bug out, bug back, bug in, type clothing is mostly cammo instead of "Normal wear" that would make me stand out much less! Incredible that I was just thinking of the radios in the Faraday bob and at home to keep up communication, and here you are. Love this so far!
One Second After was a great book. I believe things would really fall out that way. Good info on a bag. Preparation is key. Something will happen, on what scale who knows. Better to be prepared and nothing happen, than not be and something does happen. Other books you might like or already read Patriots Surviving the Upcoming Collapse. It was redone for a todays version. Lights out was also good. Anyways, good job.
What are you using for a faraday bag? Some type of aluminum or copper mesh material? Can you show what you have set up for that? A portable faraday bag is a great idea btw.
waiting on my ISP to finish loading the rest of the video, I decided to write an additional warning (in the event of EMP). Most of the military veterans will have some kind of training about survival, so this is really for the rest of us: Maps, if included in your video/bag, are of utmost importance. And what makes me mention it, is the fact that I'm adding up some complications. If you travel, try to note on your maps where the nuclear power plants near you are located, and avoid them..
@bizarewigga portable electronics wouldn't work either because an EMP destroys the smart chip in all devices. So cell phones, iPods all have chips in them.
@bizarewigga If the generator has it's battery connected then the circuits will fry, if it's a portable you should be fine, but keep in mind that 99.9 of portable generators are GAS powered and GAS will go first when the Shubanza hits the fan. Thanks for watching.
@Mrmodernsurvival No worries! But seriously, blouse or tuck in to your boots, those trousers man, it'll help your pants stay drier and help insulate you at nighttime. you can either buy blousers (off of brigadequartermaster website or just use a females hair tie. it'll help bigtime when walking through tick infested woods too!
@Mrmodernsurvival .....I carry an extensive get home bag in my truck at all times. Because I work all over the state I may need to travel for five days to get home so I am prepared with that much food. I am currently looking into buying a foldable bicyle in order to cut my travel time in half. In my opinion an EMP attack is our biggest threat but sadly 99.5 percent of Americans know nothing about it. Anyway, I was glad to find your excellent video.
You carry your gun to work, correct? Do you have your gun concealed, or do you open carry at work? I often wonder about what people do with their guns at work. This video really makes me think how unprepared I would be if something like this happened.
@HedgehogOutdoors It's a sobering thought when we evaluate our means in an EMP type event. I carry concealed at work.......I work in an office, but it's a gun friendly one! Thanks for watching!
I notice a lot of people wearing camouflage clothing. I don't know why so many are wearing the new ACU type though its very uncomfortable and not very tactical with all the velcro. The older style DCU's, and BDU's were far more comfortable IMO, but it sure beats running around the hills in dress clothes for sure.
@Mmodernsurvival I live in a fairly large mid western city with a few big buildings but definitely no sky scrapers. What would you suggest for a radio for my wife and I who both work and in the event of an EMPduring the workday will both be away from home. I am a construction worker and am constantly moving around town so it's up in the air as to how far from home I will be
@Gngrcpl I like the TCR-200. Mostly because it's very simple......one thing you definately need is faraday bags for the radios and any other electronics that you want to save. Thanks for watching!
If China is EMPed they still remember how to live in poverty. If Japan is hit you know they will stay calm and orderly. If the US gets hit...well...with all the guns..you will probably kill each other. So it comes down to changing yourselves and avoid conflict with the world.
@edwardtang1977 in a perfect world that makes sense.....but not in the world we have. There will always be those who prey on the weak and as long as they do, good people will be forced to defend themselves and others. Remember "Those who beat their swords into plows, will plow for those who don't".
cool video... do u think its best not to look like military? i would want to blend in maybe avoid camo colors and stick with solid color bdu pants.. dont want to make urself a target of opportunity, have all ur gear just blend in more.. just an idea :)
@mormonsurvivor Thanks for the comment and watching the video.....I had thought in that direction before and still sometimes lean toward nuetral colors, good thoughts.
Nice video. I wish more people would have preparations for scenerios like this. When the SHTF, I truly believe that some folks will sit in gridlocked traffic for three days until they pass out from dehydration.
I love the scenario based videos. Your idea of a scenario where you have to get home after an EMP event is very good. I am a former Army Infantry NCO and I have to say that I hate the Army Digital Combat Uniforms, of which you are wearing the pants in this video. I think that the Marine Corp Digital Camouflage Uniforms are much superior. I also keep a couple of tactical colored t-shirts in my Get Home Bag instead of a white or light grey t-shirt. Anyway, keep up the good work.
I see a Major Fail! Water, You never mention water. A day and a half without water will do nasty things to your body and mind.Other wise a realy great video
PaladinPrepper and I were talking about this last night on the way home from the city, which is also where he works, and hr. away. He too has a get home bag. Last night, even at 9 p.m. it was still 92 degrees. I commented that if there were an EMP in the summer, he would have to sleep during the day and travel at night. He agreed and said during the summer he want to have night vision googles in his get home bag. I think that's a great idea. He could walk without using a flashlight to see.
wow the video quality is AMAZING!!!!! What are you guys using to film this with?
great video by the way but i was overwhelmed by how good this looks compared to all the other crapy blurry pixelated videos on you tube look.
