Extra info I found usefull when learning the blues for myself:
There are variations on the 12 bar blues, you can find them anywhere on the internet if you are curious really. A common one is: play the fifth chord on the twelth bar, so that would be G. And another: play the fourth on the second bar, especially usefull if you are playing it slower and want to break the big 4 times base chord part of it at the start. You might already know them but I'm just sharing them in case ;)
This videos are great. Im a complete novice, love messin around with the blues scale, but didn't know where to go from there, these videos have given me direction. Thank you so much.
Thanks for taking the time to break down the basics. As someone who doesn't have access to a private teacher, it's VERY generous to offer these helpful guides for free on Youtube.
"And um... yeah... bye!" haha best ending ever. Great improvs, by the ways. Hopefully, I'll be able to do that with some practice. Thanks for the lessons.
First off, you're one bad ass mother fucker on Piano. I know how to play, but I have difficulties reading sheet music. I learn by ear, or actually from tutorials on youtube lol. Mind making a Tutorial for Great Balls Of Fire for me? I'd really apreciate it. Thanks.
hey, i'd just like to ask... when you improvise, you can play notes from both the blues scale -and- the scale of the key you're currently playing, right? so, say, you're playing a c-major chord on the left hand, so you can hit c, e, g, etc. as well as the c, eb, f, f# etc.? *confused*
Yes, That is correct, but obviously not at the same time :p. The combination I use makes it sound more major as the blues scale is naturally based around the minor scale.
i like ur vids, v helpful mate. it wd be cool if u did a few where u just improvised through a few tracks in C to give us more ideas of playing. thanks anyway
It´s Better if you start to learn the other scale, coz normaly the people use it in mosly everywhere and guitar, harmonica... i mean it´s easy... good luck!
Your lessons are the best.....
