my GOD This takes me back over 30 years ago when Beverly Sills toured with this as part of her farewell performance and I had a VERY small part...what grand memories of such a great and IMMENSELY talented woman, thanks for posting this !
Thank you for posting this - it evokes fond memories, this was on 31st December 1983 at Covent Garden - I had the great good fortune to be there in the audience, it was a great performance, and everybody was in a terrific mood !
Thank you, Ame, really thank you. I had been looking for it for a long time. It grew difficult for me because I dont know German - Good it has French subtitles!
I have watched Fledermaus: Prey-Te Kanawa and found very beautiful. In the first act there is a trio between the two ladies and Eisenstein, who is leaving. I have been trying to find it here but cannot - Is it in youtube, does anyone know what is that trio?
By the way, I might want to mention that she didn't pour it on the man walking by. She pretended to pour it on him and poured it near him. I thought that was funny. It would have been mean if she actually poured it on him.
Regarding the music only, you are probably right, but as a show I think this production was the best: the artists were joking, drinking, enjoying the performance themselves more than ever!
I'm not sure. I haven't see Kleibers version because I own only the audio CD and although I'm a huge Hermann Prey fan I think that Eberhard Wächter is able to beat him as Eisenstein (for example).

@WaoYouka07- He's not the stagehand, he's the jailor. Of course they're all drunk- the party didn't stop even after 6:00 in the morning! :)

Haha, wonderful show!
...stupid question perhaps, but why is the stage hand tying everyone up? ^^

That is his way of saying "party is over folks, get off the stage."

I think that the guy is tying them up to keep them in a straight line. =)

Kiri Te Kanawa is excellent at this song.

THIS WAS WONDERFUL! Did you notice Kiri Te Kanawa who played Rosalinde poured champagne on that poor stage person at about 2:28 ?
strauss12345 3 years ago
She is having a ball and enjoying the performance.

I know. I personally thought it was hysterical that she poured the champagne on the guy.
