Don't know why people haven't demonstrated the amazing B3 Organ sounds you can get with the GR series......Couple years back I heard a good band playing outdoors at a distance and swore there was someone with a Hammond B3.....when we got right up to the band we were all scratching our heads trying to figure where the great keyboardist was! Then we saw the guitar player had the GR setup. Couldn't believe how amazing it sounded. To me - that particular organ sound is the most useable in a band.
hmm i think its a cool product, i wouldnt mind sitting at home jamming with this thing, seeing what sounds i could get, but for live/recording? cant beat a good tube amp, good guitar and some skill
He is playing a Godin Freeway SA. Many Godin (pronounced "go-Dan") guitars, like this one, come with a built in 13 pin connector so you can plug directly into the Roland GR series synths. I have a Godan Multiac Nylon SA with that feature. ...very cool!!
Oh ok cool! And melodikdeath it is because I am into Techno/industrial music and I like to experiement on sounds not just what every other person on the hill does!
yes they do. you can buy the updated gr-20 which has a bunch of bass effects and buy a gk-3b which is a bass pickup which can work on 4, 5, or 6 string basses. exactly the same as the guitar pack
i went on a cruise one time and there was a guitarist doing a one man show with this he had backing tracks and he'd use the synth to play piano on the guitar etc
i can't lie it's possible but since it's robert on marcello im sure it possibl that it's him too, the sond's he's using arent exactly stock sounds i've heard on other roland keyboards but it might just be theis one, the harpsichord is from the JV/XP expansion card deffinitely and the synth i've never heard on a roland so i don't know...
That guitar has the Ghost system built in. Note the extra little switches in the control area. On a Synth Access guitar you don't need the GK 3 pickup, it's all built in. Check out the line of Godin guitars lots of them have a 13 pin 3 voice setup right out of the box. And lots of players take a guitar that they like already and install the system into it.
I have a GR-20 Synth but from what I have read the GR-55 has a lot more features. It has amp modeling and the ability to play pre-recorded backing tracks. I also think it has about 900 voice patches against the GR-20's 400 or so.
There are some folks that are having tracking issues with the GR-55 but I bet that has to do with the setup of their individual equipment rather than the GR-55 machine itself.
@mrcat1990 i agree its all this 80s hair rock bullshit. nobody wants to do this anymore. these synth guys are really starting to get out of touch with what is good. you see it in music stores too. all the old synth guys play really shitty stuff to try and sell their stuff... ugh.
guitar is a Godin Freeway Classic SA (Synth Access)... Godin are the best SA makers in my opinion. Check out there massicerange.... Especially the fretless 6 strings SA!!! Although many do say that Nylon strung is better tracking..
About 1 player in 1 million can play a guitar synth that fast, so it's a bit misleading ... but Roland makes the best, overall, and they more or less invented the modern, practical guitar synth. I won't have a GR20. Too limited. I like the GR33 and GR30, though. Roland, build us a new guitar synth, one with controls like the VG88!
