Seen this film about 357.3 times!!! my brothers just handed me £250 qwid, and it made me think of this!! " £250 qwid - just think wot u cud do wid dat:) ....well - in those days you could prolly get a new car.... today?---hmmm let me think...
@JuanMacready Of course its dated but not badly acted. I suggest you go to another video, such as children's tv, you might like that and get off here. Join the "Firth " idiot and take your profound comments elsewhere.
This film is a stupid piece of crap. All that fast driving without any accidents! I'm glad the ugly, bald, wig-wearing cunt Baker gave himself the Big C.
Wow, Patrick McGoohan can really play evil great! I love those scenes of him driving with those crazy eyes. Would love to see this whole movie. Actually school bus drivers here drive like that lol!
PeterFirthFan, you must have never seen the movie to make an idiotic comment like that, but it's no surprise since upon viewing your channel, you're obsessed with Wacko Jacko and pedophilia and go around making ugly comments to agitate. It must be terrible living in your mum's basement.
This movie is a stupid piece of fucking crap, badly acted with a ridiculous story. I'm glad the talentless ugly Stanley Baker died of lung cancer at only 48.
Unbelievable - the "new" british movie generation of that time at one table - all became later very famous - Patrick Mc Goohan, Sean Connery, Herbert Lom, Stanley Baker, Gordon Jackson, Sydney James , Alfie Bass and also but not in this scene Jill Ireland (mostly known as the wife of Charles Bronson ) and David Mc Callum
Patrick McGoohan is a brilliant actor. He's really nasty here and the viewer sees him with disgust, but when you see him in something like Danger Man or The Prisoner he's a hero everyone wants to be.
Depending on your age and where you originate from, i could understand not knowing what one is. Basically its an old coin of money that was very low in value. 3 pennies to be exact. Before decimal value came to Great Britain money and measurements was known as 'imperial'. So 100 pennies became a pound and the closest to a thripennybit would be a two pence coin. So i used that denomination because the movie 'Hell Drivers' was around the time of the old type of money. Hope that clears it up for u
I love this film, it's a real British classic doing what British films can do best when they concentrate on homegrown themes: unglamourous, rough, unforgiving, humourous and stark. The cast is fantastic. I've always thought that Stanley Baker was one of our best actors, and he did a lot of very good work, for example Hell is a City is a great film as well. I think he's underrated, personally, but then all these things are just a matter of taste in the end.
The Italian guy is a much respected movie actor with fame to match the best of the rest of them. I can't recall his name at the moment but I think he deserves a mention while we are naming this superb cast.
It's like the joke about the English, Irishman, Scotsman and the welshman who walked into a pub. ie William Hartnell, Patrick Mcgoohan, sean Connery & Stanley Baker. ( Only Hartnell wasn't actually in the pub but he played a leading part as the crooked boss.)
I saw this film for the first time the other year and was amazed to see it stared James Bond before he became James Bond, Dr Who before he came Dr Who, The Man From Uncle before he became The Man From Uncle and The Prisoner before he became The Prisoner.
Not to mention other British stars such as stanley baker, sid James and alfie Bass.
Interesting MrAfroSheen, you have no opinions on the video we are supposed to be commenting on, just a reply regarding my spelling on a comment I made over a year ago. Your comment says more about you than it does about this movie.

Great tough film starring the late great Stanley Baker. A cracking supporting cast give this the class most films can only dream of.

Nah! your all wrong! The real winner was the old fart who had them all killing one another and driving like maniacs for a thripennybit!

What would a thripennybit be?

His name is Herbert Lom. Stared in the 60's tv show 'the human jungle' and went on to play peter sellers (disparing) boss in the pink panther films.

Patrick McGoohan stole the show all the way through this movie, it is the best performance I have ever seen of him.
When I watched the movie properly for the first time I found McGoohans performance quite scarey, very menacing.
In fact he was so convincing that I actually found myself afraid for the welfare of Stanley Bakers character.
Also I found it quite believeable that McGoohan was the hard man of the gang instead of the much bigger Sean Connery.
stanssoapbox 3 years ago
I forgot to metion Gordon Jackson, so it also freatured one of "The Proffesionals" before he became one of "The Proffesionals".
