I was excited to see that you were about to provide an alternative backcombing method, because I refuse to tease my hair. Removing the teasing means removing a lot of hair.

However, the result of your method looks about the same. I would not want to take out that backcombing. My preferred method for a raised crown is to backcomb a tuft of fake hair (which I got at a hair supply store) and pin that in, combing my own hair smoothly over it.

Wouldn't work with that style, though.
