  • Clumsy and poor timing. Doesn't flow. Whatever, not everyone can be John, that's why he was so unique.

  • I have that same bass!

  • Tone is very enwistle, but the way youre playing it isnt. He uses the A and D strings during the main verses.....watch the Ox Cam video from "The Kids Are Alright"

  • Nice job :)

  • I like the sound you're getting out of the bass, especially at the beginning. Nice low growl.

  • what does mim mean?

  • its pretty good the whos bassist was the best in rock and roll history

  • I don't know why this has so many views. It's not even that good. This was a while ago I can probably do much better with it now.

  • supongo que debiste de haberlo tocado con un bajo menos distorsionado y mas profundo, pero de todas formas muy buen video XD.

  • awesom. but no one can compare to John Entwhistle.

  • did u click on this video expecting someone to be able to match john entwistle's skill?

    great job

  • @lithiumnbassist09

    I get pretty darn close!

  • @lithiumnbassist09 yeah the guy had a really unique style

  • think there's a mighty big difference in MIM Fender basses and their American counterparts. The tone wood really seems to breathe and resonate on the America whereas the MIM bodies don't seem to resonate-you hear alot of the neck IMO

  • you have to play octaves at the end, A,E,D,A,E,G,D

  • Bad ass my man

  • Good Bass Playing chap. Going back to the fender jazz bit.. I own a Usa jazz bass. I was trying out a new amp. and i asked the saleman can i have a jazz bass.. I used a MIM jazz. Didnt even know the diffrents till he told me :-}

  • great cover dude!

how do you get the track over what you played?

  • i think what he might be doing is just playing the original, but has his bass up louder

  • yeah. you can hear the ox at a few part. like at around 1:20

  • congratulations man!! such a cool instrument..

  • i plan on buying buying a mim fender jazz bass (standard) how is it? Anybody who has it plz reply i need to know :)

    Thank you

  • Hi. I own a Fender Precision in Arctic White that is Mexican built. They are basically the same as the US made Std models. To be honest, the parts are USA manufactured and shipped over to Mexico for cheap labour - hence the less price against the US built ones. Purists (argh!!!) argue that they are not 'true' Fenders - which is rubbish. They sound and feel just like any USA Std P bass. You will not be disappointed with Bass. I assure you.

  • Comment removed

  • you're correct that the parts are the same, but to me, the guitars made in the US have a 'glossier' feel. I don't really know how to describe it. They are both great instruments.

  • this seems like another motivation to reach the next stage in awesome bass performance :D!

  • good job ^_^

check out my wont get fooled again cover? this ones better though lol.

  • Wish i could see the entire neck through the video :'( camera further back next time if you'd please :)

  • Lol You have the same guitar strap as me xD Sorry I just thought it was funny

  • nice, but i cant hear your bass

  • i have that bass xD

  • Omg just perfect keep on going

  • very nice could u send me the tabs?

  • sorry I don't have any

  • love it =D

  • nice bass!

  • this is a pretty good basic playing of the song but there is a lot more of A open string to the A 2nd fret g string a lot more alrternate fingering on those strings. but it's better than what i can do now. bravo

  • Great cover but of you listen to the song a little bit more you can hear it requires a little more finger work, mainly the verse.

  • Man, I love your bass' sound! What effect u use??

I liked the video, but you've got to improve your right hand!!! a lot!

  • i just went through a tube preamp right into the interface and then into the computer.

  • pretty good, this is a hard song to play for the bass.

  • thanks

  • That's a Fender Mexico Jazz Bass '62 right?

Nice playing :) 5 stars for you :))

  • thanks! I don't think its the '62 though its just the standard mexican j bass

  • ok thanks :)

  • AMAZING! 10/10

  • your playing style on your right hand is kinda like geddy lee's. great cover.

  • thats a "fender mex special white edition" ^^ going to buy same bass but just precusio. can u plz reply me is that a good bass/worth of buy?

  • yea I like it a lot

  • Ty for advice =)

  • your technique looks off. there's times when your thumb isn't resting on anything, even though you're not playing the E string. You should have your thumb resting on something whenever possible or practical. And your right hand fingers, at least so i've heard, should be straight when they come into contact with the strings. it conserves energy. i don't want to sound like a jerk; this is just what i've heard and observed from other players.

  • alright thanks I'll work on that

  • are mexican made basses good?

  • yeah they're pretty good, not as good as the americans though

  • not bad, but you left out some good parts

  • i dont play bass but how hard is this song on the bass

  • It's not too hard but I did simplify it a little cuz I can't do all the crazy fast things john entwistle can do.

  • are you using any effect pedals? or does your amp have gain?

  • no I'm using a tube preamp and it has a little natural overdrive

  • Too many mistakes? Are you joking? This is John fucking Entwistle we are talking about. Great cover.

  • R.I.P. John Entwistle...

  • sweet, that's the same exact bass i have, MIM in arctic white! nice playing, too. i'm still trying to master this song. =)

  • i got the same bass, it arived today at 8:00, ive been playing it all day!!!!!!!!!!! its so cool!

  • Good job man! Sounded really good to me. There are very few people who compare to John but keep this up and you're on your way!

This is called a constructive comment as opposed to some of the others from people who don't know what they're talking about.

  • thank you

  • poor..to much mistakes...but, keep practicing... it's better than another ones a seen

  • Um its too many mistakes not too much so you are the true mistake maker here

  • please see again the isolated bass video and compare whit your responses.... so you will accept it is not good, maybe later I will show you how to do this.... but, didn't want to offend you, only tell your mistakes to become a better bassist.... yes sorry, I can't evaluate you like a musician , you should be a teen trying to be a someone in your life. keep practicing maybe someday you will be able to play this correctly.... be cooll dude ...... peace..... xD

  • When you say the isolated bass video are you talking about the actual john entwistle one? We don't have to compare ourselves to him we never claimed to be as good as him. You aren't telling me what my mistakes are or helping me become a better bassist, all you are doing is pointing out that john entwistle is better than me which is obvious.

  • ok man...... good luck with your bass guitar....

  • thanks

  • Hey yeah fuck you

  • dude u rock... 5/5

  • thanks!

  • Are you using any stomp boxes or effects in general?

  • No, all I am using is the bass through a presonus tube pre (you can see it in that background) into an m-audio digital box straight into the computer. I chose it as the audio input on the computer so the video would be recorded with audio automatically

  • Dewd...killer tone! More importantly...you know what to DO with it. (Most don't.)

And while you miss some stuff...you always stay with it - TOTALY KEY! Really sick dude....nice work. And yer only gonna get better....

  • thank you!

  • hey, could you send me the tabs? the tabs i've been using don't sound like the part at all. thanks

  • I don't have any tabs

  • you should put up some how-to videos...would be helpful

  • your really good. thats a tough song to play.

  • thanks

  • Another well done WHO cover, man!

    Glad I found your stuff.

    Peace~

  • thanks!

  • the jazz bass is sick!!!!

  • SICK DUDE!i love it!

  • Thanks!

  • wow. i have a bass and i found some tabs for it and that a pretty hard song

  • fuckin excellent choice to play i seen your other vids before i watched this and your good, this is one of the best fuckin basslines specially during the chorus "tip my hat to the new revolution....."

  • thanks!
