Tone is very enwistle, but the way youre playing it isnt. He uses the A and D strings during the main verses.....watch the Ox Cam video from "The Kids Are Alright"
think there's a mighty big difference in MIM Fender basses and their American counterparts. The tone wood really seems to breathe and resonate on the America whereas the MIM bodies don't seem to resonate-you hear alot of the neck IMO
Good Bass Playing chap. Going back to the fender jazz bit.. I own a Usa jazz bass. I was trying out a new amp. and i asked the saleman can i have a jazz bass.. I used a MIM jazz. Didnt even know the diffrents till he told me :-}
Hi. I own a Fender Precision in Arctic White that is Mexican built. They are basically the same as the US made Std models. To be honest, the parts are USA manufactured and shipped over to Mexico for cheap labour - hence the less price against the US built ones. Purists (argh!!!) argue that they are not 'true' Fenders - which is rubbish. They sound and feel just like any USA Std P bass. You will not be disappointed with Bass. I assure you.
you're correct that the parts are the same, but to me, the guitars made in the US have a 'glossier' feel. I don't really know how to describe it. They are both great instruments.
this is a pretty good basic playing of the song but there is a lot more of A open string to the A 2nd fret g string a lot more alrternate fingering on those strings. but it's better than what i can do now. bravo
your technique looks off. there's times when your thumb isn't resting on anything, even though you're not playing the E string. You should have your thumb resting on something whenever possible or practical. And your right hand fingers, at least so i've heard, should be straight when they come into contact with the strings. it conserves energy. i don't want to sound like a jerk; this is just what i've heard and observed from other players.
please see again the isolated bass video and compare whit your responses.... so you will accept it is not good, maybe later I will show you how to do this.... but, didn't want to offend you, only tell your mistakes to become a better bassist.... yes sorry, I can't evaluate you like a musician , you should be a teen trying to be a someone in your life. keep practicing maybe someday you will be able to play this correctly.... be cooll dude ...... peace..... xD
When you say the isolated bass video are you talking about the actual john entwistle one? We don't have to compare ourselves to him we never claimed to be as good as him. You aren't telling me what my mistakes are or helping me become a better bassist, all you are doing is pointing out that john entwistle is better than me which is obvious.
No, all I am using is the bass through a presonus tube pre (you can see it in that background) into an m-audio digital box straight into the computer. I chose it as the audio input on the computer so the video would be recorded with audio automatically
fuckin excellent choice to play i seen your other vids before i watched this and your good, this is one of the best fuckin basslines specially during the chorus "tip my hat to the new revolution....."
Clumsy and poor timing. Doesn't flow. Whatever, not everyone can be John, that's why he was so unique.

supongo que debiste de haberlo tocado con un bajo menos distorsionado y mas profundo, pero de todas formas muy buen video XD.

Great cover but of you listen to the song a little bit more you can hear it requires a little more finger work, mainly the verse.

NavyPilot400 3 years ago
It's not too hard but I did simplify it a little cuz I can't do all the crazy fast things john entwistle can do.
cariboufudge 3 years ago
are you using any effect pedals? or does your amp have gain?
then00best 3 years ago
no I'm using a tube preamp and it has a little natural overdrive
