have lived in the city for 34 years and 1 month ago found a possum in the tree in our back yard . she is beautiful and everynight i feed her walnuts , pine nuts ,a small piece of corn and carrot . also a half slice of bread and honey .small ammounts of nuts - about a teaspoon . it's such a wonder to have a wild life creature in the middle of the city . we adore her .
I have 3 Kangaroos, a Wallaby, an Emu, two Rainbow Lorikeets but the Possum is the most friendliest and appreciates a free feed. Some people bitch and complain about them but I live in a area where there are thousands and you don't even know that they are there most of the time. They are beaut animals and deserve respect as all Australian Wildlife dose.
@ChakaFerry I hear ya. I see that Tasmanians want to trap and export our Possums to Asia! Over one million wallabies are culled in Tasmania every year as the logging is pushing them out. God help our wildlife! Keep up the good work.
I love them - so much character. I feed them everynight and have about nine or ten that come to my door. They LOVE cooked sweet potato - but will pretty much eat anything.
aww...cute and quite well mannered. This remind me of the time I was in Melbourne to visit my sister. A possum scratched on the window by the kitchen sink (which gave me a fright because I was washing dishes at the time). Apparently, the people in the hall feeds him/her every night by the window.
The Possums are shy, but used to me now and they will do anything for the yummy fruit. There is a mother with the new baby out on the balcony now. I nearly touched her, she came so close to me to take some grapes and banana and apple. I say "poss, poss, poss" when I talk to them, quietly, and they like that. The baby is so big and still rides on the Mum's back.

Hi Gerlinde
Hope you are all well and enjoying the Spring.
