Ugh, I'm 19 and I JUST got braces.. a week ago. they said the pain would wear off after a few days but i swear, to bite down on ANYTHING is still sooo painful. I know the end result will be worth it, in a year and a half.. but my mouth feels so full all the time and i have this HORRIBLE lisp, like i actually do think they're horrid things.. lol. Did you have it feel that ridiculously awkward?
Hey! I'm so sorry it took me so long to get back to you! I'm on vacation so I haven't had the internet available to me in a while. I hope it went okay, let me know how your de-bracing went?
I know it's late, but to answer your question, I was absolutely terrified that I would have marks on my teeth when my braces came off! They don't clean them white, they basically just scrub off the glue, and they can't clean off white marks or if you have brown areas of decay.
But you have to basically neglect your teeth and not brush at all to have any issues with severe staining or decay/cavities around where the brackets were.
Anyway, congrats on getting your braces off! They're probably still sensitive and sore right now, but I promise it goes away. When mine came off they hurt all the time for a while, and I was convinced they would NEVER stop hurting, but eventually they do =]
ahh im so excited i get mine off in just seven days! less then a week including today :) i want to know how has you life changed sence you have had them off?
Hey! Oh yay I'm so excited for you! Honestly, getting braces is one of the best things I ever did, and I've been sooo happy since I got rid of them. It definitely helps with your confidence - before I had braces and sometimes while I had them, I was really embarassed to smile and always thought when I met someone new that they were judging me about my smile and crooked teeth. That's gone now though, I'm happy to smile and show them off all the time.
Aand of course since I got the braces off, my teeth don't hurt anymore which means I can eat again - which might not be a good thing haha, but I've been able to start weekly lunches out with one of my best girlfriends, wheras with braces it was painful sometimes, or just a pain to have to make sure nothing got stuck in them while I was out in public =/
Anyway congrats on getting your braces off, it's awesome!
Hey again sorry for the delay, I've been having issues!
But no, it's not really noticeable at all, especially since I'm used to wearing it now so I don't talk funny when I've got it in. It's a bit uncomfortable sometimes when I first put it in but after a few minutes it doesn't feel weird at all - just goes to show you though that your teeth move a tiny bit every in just a day!
Basically a retainer is worn after you have braces to stop your teeth from moving. If you don't wear it, your teeth will just move and the whole deal of having braces is worth nothing. Mine is just a clear plastic mould that slips over my teeth and I have to wear it 8-12 hours a day (when I'm sleeping) every night. Eventually, it will gradually be less time until I only have to wear it 1 or 2 nights a week. But it'll be for the rest of my life or my teeth won't stay straight. x
Are you canadian?
