This is one of the first relatively recent performances of Silverchair I've watched, and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. I mean of course it isn't going to sound the same as it did when it was released, Johns's voice has matured, and so has he, so the sound and feeling he puts into the song has obviously changed. And I like the change! He's an even better performer and a kick ass guitar player!! Can't wait for the new stuff this year! xD

this was probably the most disappointing show ive ever seen. the whole set he was acting like a massive dick, talking in a gay american accent for some reason n the way they screwed up the start of this song was just so smartass, the entire set was new shit n they left freak as the last song and they didnt even play it properly. its no wonder he got about 200 assorted objects thrown at him when they were on. thank god Rage were on next to completely demolish anything silverchair had to offer.

Silverchair lost their passion after 2002 and Daniel lost his voice also. I'm glad he got help with his anorexia but now he needs to get off of the pot and other shit. This performance is majorly weak compared to their early 2000 shows like Rock In Rio, etc....

Now he is 30, and he spent half of his life being a "Rockstar": means travel all around the world, give concerts and interviews or shitty things like that. I think he is tired. Definitely doesn't sing better than the Diorama era... his voice was super smooth and he could sing much higher without sounding so strained. He sings great now though, I love his voice, just not like it used to be.. that's a fact, you could probably ask him and he'd agree. But I love all of Silverchair's music!

I do LOVE the Diorama era and think his voice was great by then, the voice was smoother, yes, that's right... also higher (not much more tho)... but his voice now is more mature, controlled and powerfull... But anyways... I just think he's always great... ;)

I will agree with powerful, but it's definitely not more controlled. He has lost some control. Listen to "After All These Years" at Newcastle in 2003... also "Asylum" from the same show. The control he has is truly incredible.

I know exactly what you're saying, I'm not stupid... I sing myself. But, I actually disagree with what you're saying. Everything seemed much easier for him, voice-wise, in the Diorama era... now, the fact that it sounds strained at all proves that his voice is less like it used to be. The "Across the Night" chorus and the final chorus of "Without You" are proof enough that his voice was better.

@abtragedy he was still growing and his voice was still maturing when diorama was recorded, which is why it was even different in the across the night tour. i agree his voice was amazing but honestly when they toured with powderfinger in atgd it was the best i've heard it since 1999. listen to across the night from 07.. it blows away the 03 performances.
